Hi e4rub, don't feel bad about it, life is for living not sitting in the doldrums. You got a bonus and you spent it on something that is useful, you love, and you'll see and use every day. That cannot be considered a bad buy. Caress your hands over the worktop everyday and enjoy it. (This isn't meant to be sounding a bit :eek:, I just don't think I'm saying it very well, I'll stick with what Sue and Cherryjack say).

The £5.50 from yesterday got spent on appletizer and a gift for the hostess of last nights dinner Anyway, I have loads of coins following breaking of £20 note, the £10 note today so they're getting thrown in today without counting so I can pretend to do a great unknown counting of my pot next week

Jakes-mum have you been to my house? What you're describing there is very accurate indeed, plus to stop my DW getting her hands on it I just place a bar of Cadbury's chocolate 2 feet away from the pot, that stops her every time

Ahhh I just looked at what DH has done round his wallet, and had a feeling he must have got the idea from somewhere :rotfl: the big mistake he made was to put Galaxy down in front to stop me . . . a huge error on his part! easy for Jakes-mum to step over that and grab his change

Now did I post that I 'liberated' £1.01 i think it was from DH last night . . . . well if I didnt, I have now I also think my DS has inherited my lucky gene, we gave him £5 to go to his school fair on the instructions he was to spend half on something for his sister, he comes back with a fuzzy felt face building thing, that they wanted £5 for and he convinced them to take £2.50 :eek: THEN he goes on the tombola, 5 tickets for 50p and 4 of them won :eek: :eek: and they werent too shabby a prizes either, a next liquor collection bath and body gift set, 3 x No7 make up remover, 1 x M&s hand cream and a salt and pepper shaker :rotfl: :rotfl: plus he bought a massive bag of popcorn . . . they had to gie him a carrier bag to take everything home :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

My first road kill this morning 20p then a bit further along 10p and 1p so another 31p in pot then change after being out 1.52, the pound goes into my pound box, trying to save them but keep ending up spending them, got up to £72 but now down to 51, very sad, but pot growing

Wow! Your Jake did remarkably well, jakes-mum! Are you sure it's inherited and not more a case of you give them both daily lessons on anything cash related? The latter I'll bet.

VERY well done, prepareathome! Talk about right place right time!!! Try hard with saving those £1 coins. I have to admit that I just LOVE saving those and the £2 ones, makes my day!

No cash in my pots yet today, but here's hoping when we're out later.

Where possible give it all a real good push over the next few days, it won't be long til we're counting it all out!

This is the first year that I've NOT nicked from a sealed pot and had a nice stash by 1st December. It's progress. :T

DH is rubbish at buying me presents too. I've resorted to buying them myself (having scouted around for a good deal) and telling him what he owes me.

I've made my pot today. It's not very hi-tech, it's an old quality street jar, with a slot at the back, then completely covered with parcel tape, including the bottom so I can't peek inside, then with a label that says "summer holiday 2013 treat fund". It's lovely.
