My DD is left handed and uses normal things ie, rulers, scissors and the likes.
At school they give her left handed scissors but thats all!DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

My Son is 18 now and a leftie. I've bought him various bits over the years but in the end he uses the rightie versions because its easier. Probably the best thing I ever bought for him, and something that aided his writing no end, was a simple set of pencil grips.0

As a left hander who can do pretty much nothing right handed (except use a mouse)I'd say don't bother. I was brought up with 'normal' non lefty stuff like rulers, clocks, scissors, tin openers and you just adapt. I was given a pair of right handed scissors as a gift once and I couldn't work out how to use them..turned them upside down and used them the right-handed way!

As a leftie who does use left-handed scissors, I'm awfully confused by your scissors tale.
If you take right-handed scissors and turn them upside-down, the blades are exactly the same and they're still right-handed scissors.
Equally, left-handed scissors always have the blades to suit left-handers, regardless of whether they're upright or upside down.0 -

Apart from scissors, I can't see why anything needs to be left handed. Most items can be used in either hand. I am right handed but slightly ambidextrous and I've never had any problem using things in my left hand. Except my toothbrush. Lack of fine motor control.
Aha, you really are right-handed in a right-handed world, huh?!
Screwdrivers aren't symmetrical. The standard screwdrivers you use screw clockwise to tighten and anti-clockwise to loosen. Left-handed screwdrivers are the other way round.
The same applies to left-handed corkscrews or can-openers. It's not a gimmick. There's a reason why left-handers have more accidents and it's because utensils are designed with right-handers in mind.0 -
Hi I'm left handed and I think I have only ever had some left handed scissors, especially when I got to highschool and did Textiles and needed some left handed fabric scissors. Most things I have got on with using the right handed stuff, although I would prefer a left handed fountain pen and I can't for the life of me get on with tin openers.
Most of the stuff is just a waste of money. You soon adapt.Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0 -
Screwdrivers are symmetrical. If you split one down the middle, both pieces will look exactly the same. I have used screwdrivers in my left hand and right hand. Maybe you want left handed screws but why can't you just turn it the other way? I never know which way to turn screws or keys or taps or the old fashioned type can openers. If it's not working, try the other way.0
