I came on here with good intentions, posted what i thought was helpful comments directed at people who may have had similar frustrations when dealing with LED as i have had and explained the pro's and con's of what seems to be the best products currently out there. I also posted my comments on another forum where a healthy debate has started and i was able to show photos of my kitchen with halogens and LED's to show the differences.
It seems this is not the place to express these kind of things and i literally cannot be bothered with the hassle and rubbish that has come with me simply trying to help some other people who may have been looking at LED products for their home.but this is a relatively polite place - never mind.

No i meant rivals. Every product on earth has a rival. Are you being this childish for a reason?0 -
The LED lighting business is just the latest in a line of 'new' fads to try to milk for silly margins before it gets too mainstream, people get too clued up and you can't get away with it.
Previous money makers have been things like car engine remapping, charging people £600 for a 10 minute download into the car, soon fell to less than £99 as too many people tried to cash in on it.
Anyway all this talk of quality, its just a few LEDs glued into a shell and wired up with a couple of resistors and capacitors. There is a point when you can't get any more LEDs or any brighter ones in - its not the mystical rocket science the LED mystics would have you believe. The main concern with cheaper ones is the temptation to overdrive the current for more output but shorten life. Poor light colour and running hot are tell tales.
don't be fooled into thinking reassuringly expensive automatically means quality!!! it often means someone is making a killing instead.
You can get a perfectly decent GU10 that will truly replace a 35-40 watt halogen for £4.50, stays cool enough to touch and has a good warm colour, the trick is to perhaps add a couple more to your installation, its only another 6 watts so what the heck.0 -

, but you don't have to pay through the nose for them either is the point that your trying to deflect from.
"I'd also have far more confidence in products that have been built using the best materials doing what they claim to."
in that case I have a some genuine ashtrays, only the best, made from finest Martian marble, honest - yours for £9999. Send me the cheque for express delivery, I will even come round and install for free. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I'm trying to deflect away from the fact i haven't bought expensive LED Spots because i think they are too expensive? Something i stated in my first thread that was deleted.

Could you please point me in the direction of these as the £4 bulbs i bought from ebay were rubbish and so were the marginally more expensive ones i bought from B&Q. I have found 3w and 4w spot lights to be absolutely useless in my kitchen and i have 20 of them.
They work ok in a confined area, like my downstairs cloakroom, but not in a area that is larger and needs lighting properly. They are not powerful enough.0 -

So i need to pay to get someone around to create two more recessed holes in my kitchen ceiling and wire it all up so that i can have 22 spots rather than 20 and that will make all the difference?0 -

Bored now. Cheers.0 -
Hope they do come down most people wont ever pay £30 for a bulb it would take you years to recoup that money if at allsillygoose wrote: »The LED lighting business is just the latest in a line of 'new' fads to try to milk for silly margins before it gets too mainstream, people get too clued up and you can't get away with it.

You are sure i am who? What temper? It's very clear you spend far too much time on the internet dreaming up conspiracy theories with which to keep yourself busy.
You accused me of deflecting attention away from the price of expensive LED's despite me stating clearly, three times, i hadn't bought any expensive LED's due to their price. You make no comment. You then tell everyone you know of good, cheap LED Spots that will replace up to 40w halogen. I ask you where you get them from. You make no comment. You tell everyone to buy cheaper LED spots and pay for an electrician to add two more spots in to make up for the lack of power. I explain that i have 20 spots in my kitchen and so far nothing in the 3w or 4w bracket of spots have come close to illuminating my kitchen properly. You make no comment.
It's not hard to see why you have now had enough. As for abuse, i don't think telling a childish person to grow up is 'abuse'. You have made comments about others being bullish and abusing you. Have you read any of your own posts? Time to take a look in the mirror.
Why on earth, if i was the owner of an LED company trying to pass myself off as a normal customer would i have stated;
1) Their 5w spot didn't come close to lighting my kitchen properly and it was far too yellow in color.
2) Their 7w Spot is not as good as a 50w Halogen, creates areas of shade due to the narrow beam angle and is very expensive, to the point where i haven't bought any.
3) Point out the issue i had with the yellow sticker on their LED bulbs.
I do wish all the conspiracy theorists would get off the internet and get out more. Seriously.0
