To all you lovers of fifties style - just finished watching a new series called "The Hour" - about a TV news programme set in the fifties. The clothes are fab.;)

Off to bed soon - like you Twinnie- feeling really shattered tonight.

Didn't get round to either the ironing or any exercise and I keep getting attacks of the munchies:(

I'm really struggling to get back on track at the moment.

It's a bit "chicken and egg". You fall by the wayside, feel awful, feel awful and fall by the wayside. Just need to break the cycle.

Need to just draw a line under the past couple of weeks and start again - hopefully tomorrow will see me ready for action.

Still - I'm better than I was at the beginning of frump to fab. I'm still making an effort with the grooming and trying to dress nicely and of course, still smell nice each day with the perfume. So it's not all bad - I haven't completely regressed back into abject frumpdom.

    G'night all x

Hi all, in a much better place this week. My nails look magnificent (well not quite but to me they do as they're all nicely shaped now and shiny!). Manicure was fabulous and I've booked another appointment before I go on holiday. Not too sure about the pedicure, although my feet feel smoother and my heels are vastly improved, just don't like anyone touching them. Keeping up with all the moisturising and perfume wearing. Wore one of my new skirts to work today and EIGHT people complimented me, I cringe to think what I must look like!

Loving reading about you all and your tips and successes.

Ouch! that sounds really painful LL and I agree you deserved the fish and chip lunch. Don't worry about a bit of backsliding, it happens to us all. I think it's all because we're used to setting ourselves high standards. Just push ahead whenever you can. Remember overall we are making progress!!!

I feel very similar when I put on a bit of weight. I only gained 0.5lb this week which is nothing in the scheme of things but it's hard not to be disheartened. I'm off out again tomorrow with my friend for lunch. She and I generally don't go to very posh places so hopefully I'll be able to get a nice, healthy jacket potato. I'm not very hopeful of weightloss this week either, too many 'bad' days.

I am lucky to live close enough to visit IOW for a day and at this time of year they have offers on the ferry/hydrofoil for day trips so fairly mse. Until last year had only been there once in 25 years:rotfl:Last year, DH and I went for the day to the east side (Ryde etc) and Newport, then we went again to take DGD2 to Osborne House. Yesterday we did more of the west side (Yarmouth, Freshwater then Ventnor). In Ventnor I found an amazingly old-fashioned sewing/knitting shop. It was like something from the 50s. Even though I only live about an hour away it's like time travel! Anyhow I bought some DK to make some miniature Ugg boot(ees) for the new babies in our family. And I found a stich'n'b*tch group locally which I might try soon.

Now I'm getting close to target, I'm starting to dream of things I might treat myself to when I get there. Fish & chips will definitely be one. I eat fish and chips regularly at home but nothing beats the batter from the fish shop:drool:

I've not done anything very much fabwise, just keeping up. I did buy some make up brushes today. Just a cheap set from £1 shop. I'm not expecting them to be brilliant but it's all part of my preparation. I'm so determined to master this eye shadow blending for the winter. Oh and just remembered that I shaped and painted my nails this evening.

Enough rabbiting from me. Hope everyone is doing OK.:A

That sounds great Jellybaby. Super about your skirt being such a success and the nails too. I have a habit of 'talking' with my hands and it's so much better when they're well manicured. Keep persevering with your feet too. It's really worth it. All in all you're doing really well. Good on you!:T

I did both my toenails and fingernails last night, a nice shiny red :) It's not like me to bother much about my feet generally but I'm really making more of an effort with them, and to buff off hard skin. Though my heels are terrible I've a feeling it'll take forever!! I have one of those pedegg things but although they're good my heels were just that bad.

I was going to wear a maxi dress into work today, then hummed and haaad and ended up changing into jeans and t-shirt as usual. Feel bad now, cos I should have just worn it and looked and felt more summery. But I was having one of those days where you think people will be staring and laughing so I changed out of it :(

    Wednesday Woes

Woe is me today. Tummy upset, feel cold & shivery, aches and pains. Def more frump than fab:(.

Carmen - thanks for the gentle kick - I will get my a** in gear in a bit. Just keeping out of the way whilst carer sees to OH.

Will tackle the ironing, make a nice curry, got some SS paperwork to do. If I get that lot organised then I will feel better for achieving something. Always feel better - smug and virtuous - when I push myself to do stuff.

Cold wind outside so all gardening plans on hold.

Bratz - don't overdo the foot filing - once a week is plenty. Too much filing can make it worse. Just loads and loads of cream, personally I find vaseline is best. Slather it on, then a pair of socks. You should see a difference after a few days.

Anyway - off to get some caffeine, then onwards and upwards.;)

    Hi all :hello:

    LL, hope your hand's healing?

I painted my toenails, but I want them a bit darker so I'll do another coat today.

I've had a bad couple of days, so yesterday I did nothing - didn't even brush my hair :o I spent the day flitting between the TV and the computer, eating chocolate.

Back to it today, I've got some strawberry exfoliating shower gel so I'll try that out in a mo. I also bought some shea butter (£2.99 for a 200ml tub in Morrison's), it feels great on my feet. I'll be doing a 25 minutes pilates workout too.

I'm on strike at home at the moment, so have loads of time to dedicate to me :D

    Edited to add -

LL, you posted as I was typing. Don't do too much today, you'll end up having the bug for longer if you don't rest. Lots of hot drinks for you - that's an order!

This reminded me of a time I wore a green patterned wrap dress to work. Bear in mind my usual attire was black trousers and varying coloured v necked t shirts. All day people were complimenting me BUT I felt sooooooo self conscious about it I hardly ever wore it after that :o Stupid really. I don't thin for one moment people will be laughing at you Bratz, sure they might stare but that's because a gorgeous looking woman has walked past them ;)

Tru - have a hug xx

LL - Hugs for you too. Hey you're entitled to look a frump when you're feeling poorly. I don't think anyone looks good when they are ill. Accept it, deal with it and remind yourself it's not a permament state. Looking after yourself is a priority and if not bothering to glam up is part of that and enveloping in cuddly stuff is the way to go then do so xx

Jelly baby - well done on your manicuring. I have to say my mini spa sessions when the kids are in the bath are working. Painted toe nails a lovely lilac the other night :D

Feeling pretty good about the mindful eating this morning. Was re-reading (for the millionth time) Paul McKenna's book so feeling inspired and positive on my 3rd day of doing it. I need to eat MUCH slower so that is something I'll work on today. I am not going to get hung up on how much weight I have or have not lost as it's too demotivating. Besides that is a bonus to the real task of stopping overeating :D Still tired thanks to one of the kids waking in the night but hey ho.

    Hello All!

LL the hand sounds painful- hope it's feeling better and don't worry about a little bump in the road- that's all it is - it will only take one little thing to start back into the swing of fabdom! I know it's hard I get like that myself at times I'm sure we all do, but pick one thing you will do- nice bath, paint nails, whatever works and do it- then you are no longer in a slump- you are on your way back!ok? simples:D sorry if that came accross patronising not meant to be at all, just that sometimes we overanalyse it all and I think maybe make this whole thing more complicated than it needs to be...just a little nudge from me to you:D

JB well done- you are certainly sounding more positive! always nice to complimented- but don't get sucked into thinking- god I must have looked awful before...that's rubbish, more likely people are seeing how well you are doing and want to compliment/comment on it it's just encouragement - a subtle pom pom shake:D

PP:j Go you with the weightloss! Sorry it's late but it's there! Christmas Cracker here we come! Sounds like you are getting plenty of exercise into your day which is great.

Carmen hello:wave: I'm a fan of those scrub gloves too- does leave my skin lovely and soft- my Mum used to have a stone she used kind of like a piece of slate I know it was from the big grey rocks at the beach back in mauritius- really good for an all over scrub I used to make a fuss using it as no-one else here did that- but i guess it's similar to using a pumice stone...hmm maybe that's what I will ask for next time someone asks what I want from there!

Maman Your trip to IOW sounds fun and baby ugg booties...cute! mind you baby anything = cute so you are on to a win/win lol! don't worry about the 1/2lb you are doing so well it won't be long now before you reach your goal- I'm a bit envious really, I've still got a long way to go and really need to push to get exercising properly again...

Bratz sorting out cracked heels is a bit of a long haul and you have to really keep on top of it once you get them looking and feeling good, so don't be disheartened yet! if they are really bad have you tried doing the clingfilm wrap + cotton socks thing? I haven't tried it myself as so far the coconut oil and socks seems to be working with a foot soak once in a while but might be worth a try? and don't feel bad about the dress- baby steps, if you usually wear jeans and a t-shirt could you maybe try smarter jeans? a nice top/blouse?might be easier than going from jeans to a maxi dress?

Phew! lot to catch up there! If I missed anyone sorry! not intentional honest! to everyone else:wave: hope everyone is doing ok.

I seem to be just about holding it together, visit to DH's gran pepped me up- although it did sort of make me long for my own dear grandma's both of my grandma's were strong women but in very different ways and I suppose I'll always have times when I wish they were still here...ah well I know they will be watching :A

Not a huge amount of pampering yesterday, in fact not much at all other than body scrub and moisturiser- but I'm seeing an improvment in my skin with OCM and steams/masks, which means that I've bothered with make up again- weirdly for me when my skin is a bit patchy/looking dull I don't wear much make up as it just seems to highlight and make worse problem areas- I feel like foundation doesn't go on well etc.

But today, I have a light dusting of mineral foundation, a little brozer on my cheekbones, have filled in my eyebrows (issues with really patchy eyebrows- any tips/ideas ladies?) and mascara and I have to say I feel/look quite "groomed" today. I also decided to wear a gray knee length dress which is quite simple but flows (jersey type fabric) but have jazzed it up with purple tights:D and in the words of Nina Simone...I'm Feeling GOOD

Right, that's enough rambling from me for now time for a cuppa!

    Bye for now!

    MrsWoolfe

ETA: LL, Tru and Bitsy Beans I took so long to write my post you had all posted in the interim!

LL- take it easy lady! and don't push yourself too hard.

    Tru- enjoy your "me" time!

Bitsy Beans- sounds like you've got the right approach re tackling the over eating- far better to deal with the what's causing the problem rather than getting hung up about the symptom (the weight) go you! (waves pom poms)
If you're afraid of the big bad Woolfe....beware of the Mrs!:rotfl:
