Good morning everyone - some sunshine at last.:j

Carer has taken OH out for the day to Matlock - a really pretty Spa town in the Peak District, unfortunately he won't be able to go on the cable cars or down the caverns but there are lots of tacky tourist attractions so he's have some fun.

I intended to blitz the study and tackle a load of paperwork, however the weather is far too nice for that so will go out and play in the garden instead.

I am in the middle of a phone call session trying to sort out respite care for OH in August, having to wait for everyone to call back. I am so fed up with ploughing my way through bureaucracy  - it takes such a chunk of my time.

I'd love to know how sick and vulnerable people manage when they don't have an advocate to sort things out for them. I often feel that people must think I'm a right royal pain in the a** - you can almost hear them think "On no, it's that woman again". It's just so complex.

Mrs W - so sorry to hear about your problems with your DH's family. I agree with PP & Floss - perhaps you just need to say "Doctor's Orders".

You have done so well to reclaim your health and life. Don't allow anyone to sabotage your efforts - the consequences are too serious.

If they get stroppy - ask them straight out - what would they do if they were in your shoes - lay it out for them. I Need to do this, this and this, if I don't - then this, this and this will happen. I think that might shut them up. If not then do what I always do - smile and just go your own sweet way;).

In this life there will always be unreasonable folk (my dear old dad is one of them) and there are some arguments you'll never win. I learnt long ago I can never win with my father. Although I'm now a grande old dame of 60 he still tries to boss me around - I just smile then ignore him. He sulks but I ignore that too.:D

    Back in a mo ..................

    Hi back again

Maman - love the idea of the doggy bag for DH. That's what I call a win-win - you get to be virtuous, your friend isn't offended and your DH gets some nice treats. Well done - blue sky thinking as they say.;) Your scarf sounds fab.

I've had a couple of mooches around the CS shops this week - my new winter skirt yesterday and a couple of demijohns for winemaking - 0.50p each. Lord knows when I'll find the time but, at that price, they can sit in the garage gathering dust until I'm ready. Also picked up a DVD of the original Star Trek for £1. I know - I'm just an old Trekki (only the originals though - Patrick Stewart could never be Star Trek Captain in my eyes.

You all sound very upbeat and positive, trying out new make-up etc. During my bedroom re-organisation I've gathered up make up, toiletries, jewellery etc and put them all together ready for a big sort out.

Not today - the garden beckons. So time for a coffee and a little snack al fresco and then get cracking. Can't do anymore about sorting out respite until I get some replies from my earlier calls. Good job I'm patient.;)

    Laters .........

    Hello Again,

Thanks guys- does feel a bit better having got that off my chest as it were.

I realise I probably didn't word it quite right- the issue isn't with the in-laws per say but with DH himself and our family as in both sides, which is why i suppose I feel so down about it- I feel like I should at least not need to fight quite so hard with DH of all people to get him to understand as by now he ought to really know how important it all is- he's been in there with me at the Docs he heard what was said etc...

tbh I've been over it with all of them explaining exactly why what/when i eat and looking after myself by getting enough exercise and rest is so important what the docs have said etc, i think it's just that day-to-day they can't really appreciate that little things do make a big difference so when I try and insist that I won't do something/ need to eat by a certain time etc they tend to act as if I'm making a fuss over nothing. I know I need to ignore that and carry on doing what is best for me but it gets me down that it has to be like this....

Anyway on to nicer things and back on topic- after our hellish journey home ( DH decided to ignore the sat-nav = 5hours to get home:mad:) I decided it was an OCM night, gave my lips a good buff too as I tend to have problems with really sore and chapped lips for most of the year- so buffed with the flannel after OCM and then applied some cream and then lip conditioner- so for today have nice lips:D

Have to say since I've got back into the routine of doing OCM I'm seeing a real improvement I have two slightly rough patches on my cheeks that nothing seems to get rid of, but they do seem to be getting smaller (fingers crossed!) and I think the dark bits under my eyes seem less noticeable now. lets hope things carry on in this vein!

Also did a bit of a defuzz so legs feeling nice and smooth...for today at least will probably go over them again with the epliator as I can never seem to get them all in one go for some reason!

One nice thing yesterday- I was wearing some sandals and my mum commented that my nail polish looked nice on my toes and asked where I'd got them done- so I must be getting better at painting my toes lol! she said she thought I'd had a predicure- given that I've never had one done at a salon before, I think I must be getting good at the DIY ones then!

tonight I may give myself a bit of a manicure, tidy up the brows not much else as I'm expecting a friend over for a natter and catch up.

right the suns out, I WILL stop getting bummed over things I cant change and instead take my book outside and get lost for a little while...

    bye for now!

OMG Twinnie, this is too spooky  I also loved watching the old Star Trek.
I agree Luc Picarde cannot excel James Kirk but I quite like him ;)

Twinnie - I always wanted to see Tina Turner but kept missing her concerts - there was always some damn fool reason why I couldn't go.I don't suppose she could be persuaded to come out of retirement for one last final fling:D I bet she would still be sensational and could outdance the Beyoncees, Maria Careys and Britney Spears of this world. She sure had some Ooomph:rotfl:

This reminds me of a few years back when friends of my mum and dad went to see Tina Turner. Apparently halfway during a particularly energetic number the wife turned to her husband and said "You do realise she's the same age as you?" to which the husband replied " Yes and she's a year OLDER than you!!!" :rotfl:

I'm a little boring with colours though so treated myself to a blue and a purple eyeliner. I quite like the blue one - though I was wearing the purple one and OH says to me - 'did I roll over and hit you in my sleep or something?' cue me getting all paranoid, 'no, why do a red mark or something?' 'no but you have 2 black eyes!' *sighs* he makes himself laugh at least :o

I've been using blue and a lovely emerald green colour for a few years now (not together lol). I just use them under my lower lashes and use a smudger with a grey/black colour then smudge the grey/black colour over the top lashes.

I can't wear purple although I'd love to - it makes me look ill.

    Hi everyone,
Can't remember this being mentioned before on this forum, I got an email last night about the above, apparently it can be the cause of M.S. Arthritis, Fibromyalgia and lots and lots of other things including restless legs, cramps and much much more. It is in most diet products Inc. Mullerlight and all the 0% yogurts diet coke and all other soda drinks. If anyone is following slimming world, weight watchers which I have been doing for at least the last 20 years ( must have lost tons over the years) only to keep putting weight back on. If anyone would like the article let me know and I will send it to you. I have most of the above ailments except M.S. It asks for us to give up the products containing this for 60 days and see if ailments disappear (it says people have been able to stop taking all medication for pain relief. One lady said she only has to take a tablet for Aspartame poisoning.) I am not scare mongering but if any one is having problems it is worth a try. If it helps with fibromyalgia it will certainly be worth it. Also it says if you do not have these diet products you will eventually lose more weight. Sorry for the long post but if this is right we may all feel better.

Kids had a bath, I had a very quick mini spa, files nails and did OCM. Skin is looking bit carp at the moment.....probably due to stress, carp sleep and eating too much chocolate :o

Hi all - still here, still lurking ;)

Went over my first weight loss goal today, finally(!), so a bit happy. Re-started the 30 day shred and I've just finished Level 1 Day 10, so back to level 2 tomorrow - I re-started as I bought new, heavier weights specifically for it and wanted to use them from the beginning. IN the last month I've lost 4.5" though so that's good.

Forgot perfume for a few days, but doing proper skin care each night, some mornings and always after my post-workout shower, so I'm getting there! I've broken a thumb nail really low down (to the point it's a bit painful) so no pretty nails for me at the moment, just clear glossy stuff.

I love reading all the posts, just don't have much to say at the moment, and even less for a while as the children finished school today, so chaos will reign for 6 weeks ;)
