Seems ironing is the new way of enjoying a Sunday!:( I'm just sitting down for a well-earned rest having completely cleared my ironing basket.:j I listened to the Men's Final while I was doing it which helped. I like many sports but other than live football I mostly prefer to keep up by listening to the radio. I'm a huge radio fan too.

Your lunch sounds good floss and the outfit. The weather here is very odd. Yesterday and today started off really beautifully but since then it's clouded over and yesterday evening it got really cold. I'm finding it vey disappointing as the spring held so much promise. Maybe it's coping with the sudden drop in temperature from the very high 20s we had on holiday. I do hope we can have more hot, sunny days. I've got white trousers I need to wear!;)

I'm off for a quick browse then I must start sorting our dinner.

I do hope you don't think I was getting at you - I'm just a bit shocked that they seem so unconcerned about your welfare. I worked in construction and we were well looked after on that score.

My SIL was an industrial chemist (worked for one of the biggest in the world) and they were very hot on H&S. She then worked in a very posh public school and they couldn't give tuppence.

She has damaged her nose linings, has lost all sense of taste and smell and you wouldn't believe the cough she has.

She has now moved back into an industrial facility and again H&S is a top priority.

Of course you must think about your comfort - I'm not a style dragon.:rotfl:

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:It is absolutely not in the H and S rules, but as with Jellie sometimes comfort wins when you're racing around all day.

Its hard to explain, isn't it?

Very hard to explain! If I was doing chemistry I'd be more worried. As it is I've only ever had accidents wearing shoes and boots when I've slipped over or twisted ankle over! Any recommendations on comfortable, cool, mainly covered summer sandals would be welcomed. The clogs look good but wouldn't look posh enough for my place!

I've been inspired by fashion week to buy some more fabric and patterns so have lots of sewing planned for the holidays! Also have some charity shop clothes to try and alter. No luck finding any nearly new shops round here.

    Not at all ;)

Ha ha and I have no fingerprints left - I'd make an excellent master criminal.
Its balancing comfort and practicality with looking promotionworthy isn't it?

Impressed you can sew, I always cut down the fold line:eek:

:rotfl: I can't really sew- am teaching myself and haven't been going long!

We have one guy in the staff room who is like the style police! I have a cord suit I love to wear and according to him it isn't a suit! If I buy something where the trousers and jacket match it is a suit as far as I'm concerned! He also complains about sandals. Haven't heard him complain when people show off legs in a suit with very short skirt though ;)

Did a face mask etc today. Any tips on the order of doing facial type stuff? Would you exfoliate before a mask, after or separately? How about peel things? Then there is the cleanse, tone moisturide bit?? You can tell I'm a novice and don't usually get further than basic cleansing.

  • He sounds like a weirdo - who put him in charge?

When I go back I am planning to go for dark bootcuts/fitted shirts/tank tops or waistcoats and ankle boots/clogs. That will be an improvement on where I am at the moment.

    Hi Everyone

Just a quickie - not going to post later tonight - my new master plan is to go to bed a bit earlier:o I am waking very early at the moment and I'm now far too old to be burning the candle at both ends.;)

Going to sit outside with my after dinner coffee, water my babies and transplant my beans and chard. DS1 helped me with the garden clean up - it's handy when he comes home - he is very sporty and muscular so he does all the heavy stuff for me.

Jellie - Glad you've been inspired to start sewing again - you'll have to tell us all about your creations. I'm going to start again when I've lost a bit more weight. I enjoy sewing but am a bit slow, so want to make sure I'm the right size before I make a start.

I was thinking of doing a few Skin Care Specials posts, if anyone is interested. I can include routines if you like. We can have a Skincare Week:D.

By the way I'm not the leader here - it's not my thread - it's for all of us - please do bring up any ideas or start any discussions.

What bit of expertise I have is the beauty therapy stuff. The fashion stuff comes from my keen interest in sewing and it was one of my modules at uni. I am not a fashion designer or writer.

I have a friend who was embarrassed at being a SAHM and was keen on sewing so she put Fashion Designer on her passport. Bless.

Maman- Well done on the ironing - there's a nice pile sitting on my dining room chair right now. The purple velvet number sounds fab. I could do with some scarf tying lessons too. The French are really good at it aren't they. Do they have lessons at school.:rotfl: I'll have a look on the web sometime - see what I can find.

Any off to do a bit more gardening. I picked some blackcurrants today so will sit and prepare them ready to make some jam tomorrow.

    Busy, busy, busy.:rotfl:

:mad:Grateful- we have a few 'metrosexual' males on staff. I think they spend more time on their clothes and grooming than I do!! I tend to ignore him!!

LL- I'm more than happy to entertain you all with tales of my [STRIKE]disasters[/STRIKE] creations :D once again I will probably be asking everyone for help! A skincare week sounds like a great idea. I've loved fashion week.

I know the thread is all about pampering and finding time for ourselves to become fab. Personally as well as diet, exercise, grooming etc I feel the need to spend some time on emotional and brain stuff! I've had a tough time recently and am feeling quote stressed. Was thinking about trying regular mindfulness meditation- does anyone have any experience of this or anything similar?

Hope everyone has had a great weekend

  • Meditation, yes. Works brilliantly. Problem is with a baby, I can fall asleep upright, and do!

Try the old-style board "5 old-style pleasures in your day" its a real count-your-blessings thread and very uplifting.

Thanks grateful- will check out the thread and try and meditate regularly. I've tried before but am not very good at keeping habits going. I'm fine in holidays then just feel to busy in term time to find time for me.
Target this week is to meditate on 5 days for 5 minutes at the start of my work day to start me off.
