Hi all. Another beautiful day here again!
After a week of not doing much excercise went to zumba and took dog for a long walk yesterday. My weight doesn't go up or down really but need to eat more healthily - I tend to eat too much chocolate and sweet things. Why do the things that are bad for you taste so good?

Going to try to make some small changes to my eating habits over the next 7 days. Another step towards the new me!

    Good morning everyone

Going to be a scorcher here today - had intended to do some serious tidying up in the garden - will wait till it cools down a bit later.

OH will be glued to the tennis, DS1 is home for the weekend. He stayed with friends last night and will be back later so he can spend time with his dad. That will give me a break and I can have a good potter whilst they watch the finals together. Frankly when it comes to sport - I'd rather watch paint dry.:D

Carmen - I'm having the same problem as you - I'm stuck a bit with my weight, haven't done very well this last couple of weeks so will just have to up my game - try a bit harder. I have slipped a bit to be honest so it's my own fault.

You're right Lizzie - that's it's about making small easy changes that are sustainable over the long term . I too have been a bit naughty this week with sweet things - don't even like them particularly. I do normally allow myself a couple of squares of good chocolate after dinner. That keeps me happy and stops me craving puddings etc

I really like all the summer soft fruits which are plentiful at the moment, berries, nectarines etc and they make a great pudding or afternoon treat for me. I've stocked up the fruit bowl now so have no excuse.;)

Dawning fruits are free PP on weight watchers - so if you stock up on fruit, veg, salads etc and then eat lean protein then the PP really is quite easy and very satisfying. I never buy any WW products - too sweet for me anyway and I think they are very expensive for what they are.

Also as I mentioned last night - need to get back to exercising. A bit stiff at the moment but later, when I've had a bath and loosened up.

Hope you are enjoying the wedding Mrs W lovely weather for one. DS2 at a rock festival this weekend - am pleased the weather has been kind to him.

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

Next week is going to be a busy one for me - the Zero arrives on Wednesday. I wasn't going to make much of it but the family are insisting that it the occasion has to be marked.:rotfl:

Not sure what it involves - will keep you posted.

Time for that bath & a little pamper - need a good slathering - my skin feels like an old crocodiles.

To the un-initiated a "good slathering" isn't a euphemism for something naughty - oo-er missus - it's means some serious body moisturising.

    Laters ..................

Grateful- we're not allowed to wear flip flops to school and some people frown at my fairly conservative sandals

    Interesting. What kind of school?

I know I shouldn't really, but my lab is like an oven...

Secondary- my lab is like an oven too so I wear sandals. I actually find it very difficult to find shoes I can wear all day without my feet hurting.

Just an idea - could you not wear your flips just in the lab and then change when you need to be elsewhere on campus, especially assemblies, staff rooms etc.

When I worked on site I had wellies for as and when, a pair of "sensible" shoes for walking around on site, all to do with health and safety.

Around the sales complex it had to be smart court shoes, and I used to keep some slippers (yes) for the show houses. I really hated those plastic shoe slip overs that the builders provided and refused to wear them.

My solution was those pretty satin sequinned slippers. My sales managers always thoroughly approved. The customers who visited loved them and they were great conversation starters.

As a matter of interest what kind of a lab, arent you contravening health & safety regs, chemicals, equipment, experiments, risk of slips and falls etc. I'm surprised they are not down on you like a ton of bricks TBH. Not getting at you here but clearly you've not been given sufficient guidance.

I wear Rohde clogs with trousers for work. (On my feet a lot and in hot, busy environment). Well worth the money. Very cool, comfortable and practical. A really good shoe.

These would look the part with a white lab coat (do you still wear those??).

If you google the make and model, they are often available at a discount online and with quidco.

 Hello Bronnie, good to see you.

I'm like many of the posters on here. I've been reading and thinking but not really had time to post properly lately. I shouldn't be on here now really as I've a heap of ironing to do (:o still left from holiday washing).

I've had a bit of a sort through my tops/t-shirts today. The drawer I keep them in was getting very full and not really room for those I'd ironed from holiday. More ready for CS, some more wintry ones put somewhere else and now the drawer looks tidy.

I've loved the clothes discussions this week. I still haven't attacked the coats yet but I definitely will. Each time I've read one of LL's posts I remember about something else I've got squirrelled away. I have a purple, velvet evening coat. It cost me £10 in a sale in Primark!:rotfl:I wore it to a sort of Agatha Christie whodunnit evening earlier in the year.

I'm a great believer in 'cost per wear'. So a coat that cost me about £200, 8 years ago that I've worn and worn has represented good value for money. The £10 coat doesn't need to last long to prove equally cost effective. I'm also a pashmina fan. I have two really big, warm ones which I've worn to death. They are getting a bit on the scruffy side and I'm willing to invest in a new one (cashmere would be good:D) but can't decide on what colour. I think I'll need to wait until I go to London as I'd rather feel it in my hand than buy on-line. Around here they don't seem to have any really good ones.

Talking of accessories, I could do with some lessons on scarves. I see other people wearing them and they seem to really give an outfit a modern look but I'm hopeless at choosing what will hang right and how to wear them. Anyone else manage to drape a scarf effortlessly around the neck? and where do you buy them?

LL told you the other day that I have enjoyed knitting of an evening. I hadn't done any knitting for years and decided to knit a sort of Aran/cable cushion because I thought the ones I'd seen in the White Company were extortionate. It also proved a great distraction activity to stop me munching/drinking the wrong things in the evening. Next I made some knitted covers for coat hangers, like these:
    https://www.cathkidstonusa.com/p-27190-cath-kidston-set-of-3-crochet-flower-hangers.aspx

I'm sure LL would approve as they are so good for hanging delicate things. I've got a load more to do.

    Back soon.x

Well I've had the contour wrap. It's not exactly a plesent experience, stripping down to undies and then standing there while she measures you! The woman doing it was lovely though so it wasn't too bad! I then got wrapped really tightly with clay-soaked bandages, and had straps attached, I had 2 on my thighs, one on my lower stomach and one just under my boobs. She asked me if i wanted my boobs wrapped so I left those out! Then when wrapped you lie on a treatment bed on a special heated plastic blanket thing and get plugged into the toning machine. It doesn't hurt, it almost feels like a tap at first but you stop noticing very quickly. You're all covered over with the blanket and left to "bake" for about 40 mins.

Unwrapping is much faster than being wrapped and then you're measured again. I can't remember exactly where I lost, I know I lost 1 on each thigh, 1.5 on my stomach, some on my hips. But overall I lost 12 inches in total!!! I can definately notice it on my stomach. You're not supposed to shower for up to 4 days after the treatment, but I'm back at work tomorrow so I'm going to have to go for a quick tepid shower this evening.

    2 more to go!

I was about to say that I was very surprised to read that 2 different labs allow flip-flops to be worn, I always thought that they were totally forbidden.

Have just been for a scrummy sunday lunch with DH & some friends - wore brown linen trousers and a sleeveless cream top with tiny spriggy print so was nice & cool!

Am about to expend some calories cleaning the living room now the builders have stopped creating dust. Then I will finish the ironing & sort out my clothes - I have waaay too much in my wardrobe!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:It is absolutely not in the H and S rules, but as with Jellie sometimes comfort wins when you're racing around all day.
Been at it 20 years so not lacking any guidance and its common practice at my place.

Its hard to explain, isn't it?

Bronnie yes some wear labcoats some don't.

Like the clog linky - when not pg I wear traditional wooden clogs in winter - but LL I rather think they may come into the frump category?

Fitflop do nice black suede clogs.
