Sorry to hear some of us aren't feeling too good. Very trying times. There's not much I can do practically to help but do feel you can come on here and rant/vent/moan. It's sometimes better than in RL.

I had my weigh-in today and lost a pound:j That's from being really strict with myself on the healthy food since getting back from France.

Have a great time tomorrow sparkles, it's always a rush after work but you seem to be well organised tonight. Same for you bitsy, you'll be rushing to get ready too. I don't blame you wearing comfy boots. i think we all have 'walking from the car/taxi' shoes and then more practical stuff. I'm delighted I found ballet pumps!

Just to share quickly (I'm going to try a new programme on TV at 9). I rushed out to SW this morning early and just quickly put on moisturiser, mascara and lippy. That's all I used to wear all the year round before I started this thread. Before going out to lunch I did my make-up properly: tinted moisturiser, bronzer, eye pencil, eyebrow pencil, highlighter, fresh lippy and mascara. Not the full evening works but what a difference! Thanks everyone!

Hope those 'oop north' are faring OK.

    Back later.

Plus, had a little shuffle about on a different set of scales at work to get weighed - might be at the target weight - I came in there! But I'll confirm tomorrow for deffo!

    Fingers crossed.

However stress is REALLY bad for you so I would suggest that you practice letting these feelings go. Sounds deceptively simple doesn't it but we grow into adults hanging on to emotions. If you look at kids they are happy, it's passes, they are sad, it passes too. Emotions are not meant to last, they come and they ebb away. So I try and enjoy the happiness moments and the sad, stressful moments I accept and pack 'em on a boat and let them drift away. Sure they come back (as do the good moments) BUT the point is I don't carry around the baggage all the time. I am by no means an expert at this but it's what I try to practice. Anyway food for thought.

I know the last couple of weeks have been especially difficult and I have been guilty of "carrying my stress/emotions around with me" but normally I'm pretty good at dealing with it.

I'm quite lucky in that I can put bits of my life into compartments and deal with something else even when I'm worried or anxious. I find working with my hands to be the best antidote of all - doing something physical like decorating or gardening or something that requires concentration such as a fine piece of needlework or making some jewellery.

However, for me the best way of dealing with stress is rather than find ways round the symptoms is to simply tackle it's cause.

This week it was been that damned fool from the SS. Today was the first time I had an opportunity to do anything about it.

I went to visit my OH and decided to brief him on what had transpired - just the edited version:rotfl: He just gave a rueful smile and said "We always knew what would happen, it's time - it was always inevitable".

I can now safely go back and tell the SS to shove their extra funding for carers etc (very politely of course:rotfl:) and confirm that we are definitely sticking with Plan A.

I then outlined my plans to OH for turning his room into a mini bedsit and he seemed suitably impressed:). I also mentioned my cunning plan.;)

That is when everything is done and dusted and I've had a nice little rest and am feeling suitably refreshed I intend to do a little bit of voluntary work. I will of course go back to the charity shop one morning a week. I was contemplating doing more hours in the charity shop, however, after having a chat with the matron in the nursing home I have volunteered my services for a few hours a week to help out with some of the activities - gardening, arts and crafts etc. Needless to say she just about snatched my hand off.:rotfl:

I don't think they get many volunteers. OH will love that.

Anyway although I've not done anything spectacular on the fabbing front and have just consumed a medicinal chunky Kit-Kat :o I don't look too bad. Although I wouldn't score many points for glamour I'm managing to keep up with the grooming and dressing nicely - no sign of the bag lady.:D Even my posture is a little better as the backache is beginning to ease a little now.

I've found a couple of blogs that I thought I might share with you - both very American and some of the outfits are a little extreme for me but I do love the sentiments of these ladies.

Shakespeare said of Cleopatra "Age shall not wither her" - well these ladies don't seem to be withering.

Have had to edit this - one that I wanted to show you isn't coming up right. Its called Advanced Style but for some reason I can't do a direct link.

To get to it you need to go the the Style Crone's blog, and then access her "Blogs we love".

The Style Crone writes in a strange way - using the Royal "We" but she is a lovely lady, recently widowed after looking after her husband for many years. I find her quite inspirational.

Some of the ladies on Advanced Style simply blow me away.

    Bye for now

    Fingers crossed.

    Thanks!

Nails base coated and painted with 2 coats - top coat tomorrow

Just deciding whether I can dash out for a run before work in the morning. Hmmm will see if I am quick enough to dash out for 40mins plus 15min dog walk and then a mad dash to get ready for work and rush in

Plan for tomorrow is a face mask, then layer up the make up to a suitable Christmas standard!

    Hi all,

Just a quick post so will have to catch up properly later. Had quite a nice afternoon yesterday, met a friend for a chat and a coffee and cake (healthy eating has not been going well lately!) then dashed home for OH's birthday. Felt bad that he didn't have the best of days, had ordered his pressie on Sunday and selected next day so was told by them would be here on Tuesday - didn't show up until this morning so felt rathe bad had nothing for him yesterday :( Was planning on having a charity shop mooch and then going to my film group today but the weather has been awful so decided not to go out. OH's poor friend who stayed over last night couldn't get home because the Forth Road Bridge has been closed so has been here most of the day - really horrible out there! Anyway have been trying to get on a bit with the book instead, am at 10.5k words so coming along slowly I think :) Need to find some motivation to have a good tidy tomorrow as have people round tomorrow night and the place is a tip :o

    Hope everyone's having a good day x

morning all - hugs to all who need them and LL I hope you feel better soon.

The points about stress are timely for me as I spent all day yesterday email-arguing with a certain company over a missing parcel. The courier signed for it and left it in the front garden (which the whole world can see) and someone lifted it. The company are playing silly beggars and saying as they have a signature it's been delivered and they've no legal obligation to refund.
Doesn't help that the fianc! threw out the card the courier guy left  I did, however pay through Paypal so have raised a dispute with them to get my money back. I've decided if Paypal find in the company's favour (as there's a signature etc on the tracking) it's small claims court.
The 'customer service' guy's attitude stinks and he's basically accusing me of lying/fraud which didn't go down well.

So yesterday I was stressed and felt terrible - sore head, grumpy, frowning etc. Today I'm less stressed as I have a plan of action and feel so much better - it's amazing the difference.

Well I am not picture for fab at all. My hair is lanky and needs a wash. I have a sore throat, I look like I havent slept in a month, and I havent slept much at all last night. I have been ill all week, and just want another duvet day. However I can't.
I doubt I shall be making it to the festive seasons a transformed woman. But not having he BF any more, and no inclination to find another one it doesnt really seem that important. Sick of fighting pain and tiredness to be honest.
I shall have to go and have a shower, as I have to go to the dentist today. So at least I will be washing my hair! Doubt I can do much else about the appearance in one day, but maybe I will feel a bit better and that will kick start the need to tidy up! me. never mind the house.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
