Thank you for the welcome Skymist. I will get started today, I SHALL make time for a facial this evening. I can relate to those of you who are feeling down, for me I think it's the short dull days. I find i have to push myself to get wrapped up and out down the allotment but once there it usually lifts my mood. I think it's being outside in the daylight and fresh air that does it. Good luck everyone.
Alice came to a fork in the road. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

    Hello Again

Welcome to Joan - never too late to join :D and don't worry we'll definitely still be here come 2012.

I am determined to make 2012 a good one.

Mooloo - sorry to hear your woes. Constant pain is so wearying and draining. Have you thought about attending a pain clinic - I think you would probably need a GP referral.

A good DIY treatment for most forms of pain is Lavender, in the bath, as a massage oil, as a room spray or candle. Lavender is a natural relaxant, helps sooth both the body and the spirit and is a great aid to sleep.

PP - good luck with the choir recital. Sounds like good progress with the book.;)

Anyway OH is now home and happy chuckling away at QI in the next room.

Off to help him into bed and then an early night for me.

    G'night all, sleep well x

:grouphug: to anyone feeling low; it does seem like pre-christmas doldrums are affecting everyone; short dark days before christmas are horrible, its easy to why the ancients needed their midwinter rituals and celebrations

Interesting to read about your plans sophistica, I've been trying to work on my plan for next year and longer term; I'm retired and no great urge to travel or business-wise but I miss having something to aim for. It would be interesting to hear about other people plans; LL I think your volunteering is a brilliant idea.

I've been doing a little fabbing, cocoa butter body moisturiser and facial cleansing and toning, not much but it really feels good to be doing something positive.
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

    Good Morning x
I agree Rosieben the doldrums have certainly grabbed me this year. Anyway Im hoping that I will escape their clutches this week coming and finally get my self organised for Christmas. Actually no hoping...I will escape their clutches.... (Note positive mental attitude).

I have suggested the pain clinic to Moo on a few occasions. I now go to a great one in Oxford but having said that this last appointment (last wednesday) was not so successful as the doctor was more interested in showing off to his students and demonstrating his prowess. He did not get the injection in the right spot and so it has minimal effect and has made my ear go numb :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

On the subject of ears I have persisted with my ear rings and my ears have settled down wonderfully so am really enjoying wearing my ear-rings again.

I have maintained my usual fab routines and have enjoyed them very much. My nails are also starting to look a little better and Im loving the sparkles.

Talking of Sparkles - go you girl!!! I hope you had a lovely party and wowed them. Really well done on reaching your target and i have loved hearing your preparations. Can we have a picture (anonymised) as i would love to see your outfit?

Sophistica - I was a little challenged by your concept of the Big Plan. I keep thinking about it as for me a Big Plan has a lot of inherent dangers. I think I had better stick to making small changes and have seen a huge difference to my lifestyle by making these changes. Each to their own x

Welcome to all those who have just found this thread. It does have plans to continue :T:T:T
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • went to bed early last night feeling down again after listening to how everyone's doing this that and the other xmas party/nightout wise. Looks like i'll have to have my own party alone on the setee.

feeling better this morn ing -well a bit.

my hair looks really nice, and the banter in the salon was really uplifting at the time - just makes me realise how much i miss having a chat/ laugh with people.,however just have to get on with it and try harder to take on skymists attitude and enjoy my own space.

I always seem to start by saying 'this will be a quick post' and I do mean it (honest;)). Our match has been rearranged for lunchtime today to please some obscure tv channel:mad: so my day's messed up a bit. I'll manage a bit of shopping later while I'm in city centre but it'll probably be manic there.

:Tsparkles, it's a fabulous feeling getting to target. Hope last night went well.

I must get organised too molly. DH has written and posted all the cards for US etc but I still have a load of local ones to do.

About plans (big or otherwise) I really think it's worth doing. I think it's essential to have something to look forward to. We had some news yesterday in a card. Distant cousin of DH tells us he's got an inoperable brain tumour and only months to live. Obviously it's very, very sad for him and his family but it got both DH and I thinking. We must enjoy the moment while we can. So, more travel is definitely on the horizon for 2012. Specifically not just foreign travel but I'm determined to have a few mini-breaks in the UK. I'll start by looking at some of the hotels offering deals in January and February.

Just one more thing: I did take some comfort from the post yesterday that old people shouldn't have anti-d's because it makes them fall. So if my doctor prescribed amitryptiline for my bad back I must be young!!:j:D

    Back later.

Good news! We will be having a new addition to the family tomorrow :D

Mum's rehoming an 18 month old Border Collie and calling him Star. I know it's nothing to do with fabbing but I thought I'd share it with you all.

    Hi all,

Sparkles - big grats on reaching your target weight :j
Lizzie - it's interesting you mention friends who don't make any effort, I have a few who I wonder would actually stay in touch if I stopped making the effort. I think they are just thoughtless rather then actually not caring at all, but it can get frustrating.

Sophistica - I think it's interesting regarding having a 'big plan' I do tend to try and think that way - I completely agree that I would rather aim way too high and maybe not get all the way there then aim low and never get any further than that. New Year is a time when we tend to think about our aims anyway so think I will need to think on a new plan.

LL - have been sadly lacking at the Millionaire Challenge lately, like you it's not necessarily about a million but for me it's more about trying to get out of the lifestyle I have at the moment, the 9-5 at a job I really don't enjoy to still have to scrimp and save at the end of it.
Joan - welcome, well done on the weight loss so far :j
Skymist - thanks am quite looking forward to it, hoping the weather is ok - we do seem to have had everything this week, gale force winds and now snow!

Have realised I have been rather letting things slip lately, have been lax with the make-up and beauty routines and hardly done any exercise. Agree that this time of year can be a bit demotivating. Anyway, put some eyeliner and lipgloss on today when going out and will try and do some treatments tonight. Was going to wear a skirt and my new boots but since there was snow out gave in and wore my hiking boots with the heavy grip, ah well, will see what it's like tomorrow.
  • hi,
said friend of earlier has now contacted me, just as i'd made the decision not to bother with her. She was asking me to go up but have put her off, unfortunately I do find it difficult to say what i feel without it comimg across as nasty. I never feel good after seeing her so why do i feel bad about putting her off even though actually what i said was the truth i am busy now as have done very little towards xmas and have got abusy couple of weeks ahead.

had lots of fresh air today , watching DD horseriding and then walking with dog. Anyway must get those 3 cards written :)
