    Don't worry Bitsy

I think we're all feeling a bit "end of yearish" and starting to run out of steam. I was only thinking about this earlier today.

For me I've just been treading water this last couple of months, not lost any more weight but at least not regained it all - put on a couple of pounds but not too bad.

I'll be pleased if I can just hold my own for the time being.

Fabwise - well again I'm just maintaining the status quo really. At least I haven't slid back to how I was a year ago :eek::eek: I never want to go back there again.

Fortunately I had the presence of mind to throw the worst offending clothes away - it was just too easy sometimes to grab the first thing because I had to rush to attend to OH.

Now the "first things" may not always be chic and elegant but they are at least clean, neat and tidy.

For myself I know the next 6 weeks or so are going to be very difficult indeed, not much fabbing time so I'm just going to concentrate on "maintaining" my current level.

I shall up my game in the New Year.

As we all know Christmas is almost upon us - with all the extra shopping, caring for relatives, entertaining etc that it entails so Ladies my advice is for now just do what you can, a little each day if you can, if not well then after Christmas we'll really get our acts together.

In our next Frump to Fab segment we will really go for it.

For now try not to worry - just be kind to yourselves, stay well fit and healthy.
  • Hi All. Do you know what i am going to do for Christmas shopping? Nada! Absolutely nothing. I am going to bung a few things into a Xmas stocking, which i already have, for my mum in the nursing home. Dad and i will have a bottle or port and a chicken with minimal veg which will be cooked in the sameroasting tray, baked potaoes and bread sauce and a bought dessert. And thats it! Gone are the days when I am prepared to kill myself. I am sending no cards except half a dozen to neighbours and that plan may get culled. Roll on the new year! Off with the old and on with tne new ( and tnat includes people).

Just calling in to say I'm back from my short break. Very enjoyable but foodwise it was hardly healthy. I'll be back later for a chat!

My back pain that is. My own stupid fault ...

Had to take OH to an emergency dentist appt. this morning. His PA came to help but it meant about 7 transfers in an out of the car several times, in and out of the dentists chair etc. OH became increasingly tired and it was getting more and more difficult for his PA.

I lifted the wheelchair into the boot of my car to help her, first time no problem, second time that was it - my back went again.

If I was undecided before about OH going into care permanently then this morning was the definitive deciding factor. I had been thinking that perhaps - maybe - with some extra equipment and more help .......... ..........

Now I truly know for sure it just cant be. OH's legs have virtually packed up completely.

So today it's been back to the sofa, the hot water bottle and blankets and the painkillers. I think I will go for the amitryptaline tonight although I don't really like taking it - makes me a bit loopy.:rotfl:

So today has been a bit of a write off. Easy convenient foods - mainly carb heavy snacks. Hey ho. Will try and do better tomorrow.

Sophistica - well done on your "streamlined" Christmas. I'm sure your mum will be delighted with her stocking of little treats and your Dad will just be happy with your company.

For us too Christmas will be low key. OH will just be happy to be at home and the boys are easy to please. They're both just a couple of home boys who like nothing better than some good home cooked food - as long as there's plenty of it:rotfl and just "vegging out".

Glad you had a nice time Maman - good to see you back.

Anyone had any snow yet? Apparently we had a few flakes last evening but I didn't see it. Blimmin cold though.:rotfl:
  • Do take Care LL. You can't risk your back anymore, you could permanently damage it. My Dad still not settled in sheltered housing. He wants Mum and him to move out as soon as possible. Trouble is Mum has been really poorly, and house manager had to get paramedics as she collapsed the other day due to bad chest infection. Dad still thinks she's okay. Have asked GP to review him as he's quite irrational now. Have been trying to be smart and have sent for some new tops for Christmas. Will wear one to Mum and Dad's Christmas lunch next week.

LL, you have to think of yourself too when it comes to OH's future care, it's not good for him if you are at the rough end of life. Hope your back improves soon.

We have had hail, sleet and some snow today - when I moved here in 2006 DH told me it "never snows in Blackpool". We've had heavy snow the last 2 winters and it started again today! Not very cold yet though so am not overly worried.

Floss send the snow to me please :D

LL get some ice on that back. I know that heat blocks the pain receptors but it just adds to the inflammation xx Take it easy xxx

Having an early night if DS will allow. Only had about 4 hours sleep last night. Why is it when you have plans with it ending up a late night that the kids and cat all decide to add to the lack of sleep

Here hoping DS goes off quickly (shan't hold my breath there) so I get myself t bed.

As for fabbing......more moisturing of legs this morning :D had to file some nails as they are splitting. Discovered that Green and Blacks Milk Chocolate with extra cocoa does indeed hit the sweet tooth spot without me resorting to eating the whole bar. Galaxy I do love you but you turn me into sme sort of addict when hanging around the house in large quantities :o mind you at the price of Green and Blacks not sure I could afford to eat a bar all in one go :eek:
As for exercise? Does 5 hours of standing and dancing count? Legs were shattered after concert last night but it was bloody good show :T
Mind you any benefits gained have surely been undone by the *mumble mumble* number of scotch pancakes with peanut butter that I consumed today :o:o
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.

Bitsy, it wasn't real snow, just an overflow from the Lake District and Lancashire hills. Do you think you'd manage just having a couple or three squares of G&B, its expensive but its doing you much more good than the Galaxy monster-maker stuff ever did?!

    I tried this

    MoserV2.jpg

from Aldi. It's not organic but it comes in various % cocoa. What I liked about it was inside the pack are 5 small, wrapped bars. Just enough for a small treat without being tempted to eat the whole bar. They do a nice milk one too.

I haven't done a huge amount of fabbing over the past few days as I was away but I am really pleased with how doing my make-up has become the norm. Over the weekend, I was complimented on both how trim I looked and also that I was wearing colours.:D

Today I had an early meeting and quite a drive beforehand. I was up and dressed (in my Tesco purple dress with opaques and a jacket today which has brought cost per wear down to about £5 so far), had a healthy breakfast and all made up and out of the house before 7.30 a.m. I've jumped back on the healthy food wagon for a few days until the next restaurant meal!

Do rest your back LL. I'm so sorry to hear you've hurt it again.:naughty:

I must go to bed. Sleep well all (DS allowing of course!).

I really need to own up to the fact that I expect my body to look fabulous but don't actually do anything to help it :o Think I am stuck in my twenties where my body was far more forgiving and able to look fab on it's own :o

Aaaaah yes, I know what you mean :D In my head, I haven't actually aged since I was 19. I still feel exactly the same as I did then. So why doesn't my body 'think' the same way as my brain does?

LL, you spend too much time thinking about everyone else. Even on here, you read every post and take time to encourage us. Sorry (actually I'm not, lol) but you need to be a bit selfish - selfish isn't always a bad thing - and STOP. Look after your back. Lecture over, lol :D

It didn't occur to me to get a tetanus jab. I haven't had one since i was at school.

Well I've got a bit of a cold, it started yesterday and I felt awful. But it seems better this morning, I'm just a bit achy and sniffly. So I'll just do a few gentle stretches today.

My nails are very brittle at the moment. A combination of DIY and lots of paperwork, I think. I need to use body butter on my hands instead of normal moisturiser.

I have 4 tubs of body scrub, they came as part of Soap & Glory (love that, it's my absolute fave) gift sets. I do use them but find they last so much longer than the other items in the set so they tend to mount up. I'll start using it on my hands twice a week.

I'm afraid posh chocolate just doesn't hit the spot for me, it has to be Cadbury's and that's that :D
