LL ice it, for 15 mins every hour to help reduce any inflammation.
Hope you're feeling better soon, know how excrutiating back pain is xxx

Aaaaaw LL, back pain is just awful. Time is the best healer for it. Don't rush things and take it easy.

When I had back pain the other week (disc trouble), alternate icing and heat seemed to help BUT have you made an appointment with the GP LL? I know I was in agony until I'd had prescribed drugs. Get on that phone NOW!!!!

Dropped out a while ago, but going through a bit of a tough time, so Molly had reminded me to come on here, and to put myself first instead of all the demands of the family. Have just split with partner after 8 years and not feeling exactly the brightest spark in the box. At 50 years old, fostering my 4 year old Granddaughter, and with cervical spondylosis, I do not feel an exact catch at the moment.! My heart is as gloomy as the day. But Molly has been fantastic friend, she brought me over wine, chocolates, flowers, a smelly candle (nice) and a glossy mag, so I am honoured and blessed to have her as a friend. I doubt I will be doing much today. But I will log on tomorrow before I go to physio and start again!
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Awwwww Mooloo there's a lot of it about :( I have found this thread to be so warm and friendly, it's excellent therapy. Have a dodgy hug :grouphug:

As for fabbiness here I am also finding that things are becoming more routine now.

I'm back on the EPO (I swear my skin was rougher when I wasn't taking it for a week), I'm using bio-oil at night, sugar scrub when I have a bath, slathering every day, perfume every day, hand cream at night and I have even been painting my fingernails FOR WORK !!!

  • Mooloo - big hugs, chin up - hope you feel better soon - take care, rest up and then, when you are ready, in the words of the old song, pick yourself up, dust yourself down and start all over again.

In fact put on some great music and dance yourself silly, always works for me - except for when I've put my back out of course.:rotfl::rotfl:

Well I've been ice-packing, hot water bottling, taking pain killers, applying gels - no bath unfortunately - wouldn't be able to get in and out - tomorrow hopefully.

Have spent the afternoon and evening resting on the sofa - and working my way through the mountain of washing. Watched one of my favourite films, "My Cousin Vinny". Just love the dialogue it's so witty and clever. Pain subsiding now and moving a bit easier - still walking like I belong on Planet of the Apes.

At least I can sit down now. Will I be able to get up again though - that's the question:o

Betony - well done on reaching the one stone :T:T

Meant to say Mrs W - Phew - what a weekend - don't overdo it hun. Time to take your foot off the gas and ease up a little. Pity you can't send me some of that food - sounds gorgeous!!.

Maman - glad the wedding went well. Your outfit sounds absolutely fab (and not black, he he). You are so right - style doesn't have to cost a fortune. Clever you, making a fascinator.

Molly - how was the course, was it residential - spill the beans and piccies of your quilt please. I can sew a bit but I think that would be a bit too ambitious for me:o

Anyway I've just realised its the 21st today. Which means...........one month till the Solstice:eek::eek:

Still got a long way to go before I reach a state of fabness. I'm afraid this thread will just have to continue into the New Year if I am to stand any chance of reaching my goals.

Pretty please nice moderators, can we stay - I like it here with all my lovely fab new friends.

DS2 has just bought me my hot milk - which translated into man talk means "Mum it's time for bed, don't stay up all night on that computer". Talk about role reversal.

    G'night all x

    Hello x

Thank You for asking after me and my patchwork. I am a complete novice and the course was for beginners with a very "FAB" tutor. I have learnt the very rudiments and will continue to build my quilt. I had quite a lot to contend with as my hand-eye co-ordination is abysmal and my balance is very precarious, but my dear friend Mooloo says I should be very proud of my work and as she is an experienced and very clever seamstress then I have to start believing it :T Pleased to see you back Moo :T
The course was residential with excellent facilities for those who are a bit wobbly (like me) and wonderful food. It was lovely to meet women from all walks of life and I think I will definitely join the WI now.

I agree with LL that the Fab routines seem to have stuck good and proper. I was having withdrawal symptoms as I decided to do my morning routine later yesterday as I was having to sort out the house after my weekend away:o:o:o Only little tweaks as my husband is very good but things were not put away in the right places etc. Anyway I didn't feel "right" in myself until I had completed my ablutions properly. Also doing my shower and hair wash/ condition and face pack at night has now become a familiar and comforting habit and one that does not cause me as many problems because i just go straight to bed instead of being exhausted for the rest of the day and having to write it off.

Please can this thread continue after the winter solstice (in a different guise as the winter solstice will have passed) as I have personally got such a lot from it, as others have, and dont want to lose my new "Fabby" on-line friends xx

LL - really hope you back gets better soon. I have been seeing an Osteopath as mine is also pretty sore at the moment and it has helped tremendously although is still a work in progress x
Betony - Well done on your weight loss:T:T:T
Mrs Woolfe - Another Imelda May fan. The beat of her music makes your heart sing:j:j:j
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

LL - Have you considered getting a specialised lamp to give you some extra light during the winter? I've got a 'blue light' lamp (I got it at a reduced price last year as I agreed to complete a survey about it.) It has an alarm, and then the light comes on for 25 minutes each morning (light can be set to come on for up to an hour) Sometimes I find it wakes me up, but other times it makes no difference (but this is usually when I have gone to bed later than I should have anyway!)

Just want to second this suggestion. I have two now and have half and hour in the morning downstairs and half an hour in the evening in bed. They really do help me :T
