I've had a fabulously frugal evening. Dinner at mum and dads which was lovely :)

We've come home and I've had a lovely bath with muscle soak bubble bath in because I still feel a bit achey and I've used my homemade sugar scrub all over and done my face with the Oil Cleansing Method. Might smooth a bit of bio-oil over because it still feels a bit tight.

Lots of funny TV on tonight - Rev, Life's Too Short (I'm going to give it another chance) and then Celebrity Juice.

Got to get up half an hour earlier tomorrow - 6am

  • Hi All, done my back in clearing garage, so this will be brief. Nightmare day, dump, offloading at charity shop, flu jab, supermarket, more garage clearing! Oh and i posted a direct debit for my dads meals on wheels. On the plus side, my cleaner has been! And i have bought milk. On the fabbing side of things, i only have had 2 slices of toast today and one very small sweet treat (ok i know it was cake and that is very bad) and 3 cook books from charity shop thay i cant use as i have to lose 4 stone! LL think carefully re home improvements. Council hates spending money on care homes. By doing the renovations to yr home, yr husband is no longer at risk and then they will want you to care for him... Sorry for my unasked for tuppence, i had all of that with my mum at start of year. Thinking about it makes me happier that clearing garage is current problem.

Ooer - my little rant about the world of work and the mess we're in seems to have opened up a can of worms. We can't all be wrong. Something is going to have to give.

Re the adaptations. Have been mulling it over and have had a chat with OH. I agree with you on this - it really is no longer a viable option for us. It really does have to be the nursing home route.

It's not as simple as getting a downstairs bedroom and shower-room. You are spot on Maman it is the need for carers, two person handling etc and, I hate to have to say this, but there will come a time for intensive nursing, and various interventions such as oxygen etc.

And I think you might be right Sophistica - I think if we accept funding for the adaptations then when the time comes that OH needs 24 nursing care they will try to wriggle out of providing him with what he needs.

One thing I do have to do is arrange for an Enduring Power of Attorney for when OH is no longer able to communicate. I already have a Lasting PoA for financial matters but we need an EPA for medical decisions so that OH can still be in charge of his treatments and call the shots.

Managed to plant most of the hedge - there's a patch of compacted earth that I couldn't dig so will get DS2 to dig a couple of holes tomorrow. Fingers crossed it will grow nicely.

It was rough on my back so spent the rest of the day resting on the sofa watching the TV and reading. Look after your back too Sophistica.

Not much fabbing but I did enjoy the fresh air and just pottering about in the garden - great for destressing.

    Off to bed soon,

    G'night all x

    I've calmed down a bit now:o

Just done basics (make up, dressed smartly) today. All I've really done on top of that is have a walk. I've been in Winchester, it was a glorious day, it's a lovely city and I walked part of the way home in the autumn sunshine. I've not succumbed to a cold or anything but I have been feeling very tired and generally out of sorts. I'm trying some regular fresh air and daylight as a remedy. It can't do any harm.

polesalot, what a lovely upbeat post. Sorry to hear you've not been feeling 100% sparkles and MrsW.

If you remember LL, I got Bio-oil for the scar on my ankle. I love the smell too so I'll try a face massage.

    Eyebrow shape and nails tomorrow.

    Sleep well all.

Everyone seems to be tired! I hope it's just the weather and the fact that we all work so hard with so much on our plates and not the winter flu thing :(

LL well done on getting most of the hedge planted. You put me to shame...

The insulation man turned up at 7.30 . I knew he'd be early. I wasn't dressed. I was showered and made up and just had to straighten my hair so I told him to come back at 8. He was OK about that and he seems alright. Only thing is he's on his own so wonder if I will called upon to help him - all I can do is pass him things!!!

At this rate he'll be finished quite early so I might pop into town to get my eyebrows done. It would suit me. If I go into town on a saturday I always get a headache :o. I could stock up on my EPO too.

Then I need to go to the tip...

Hafe a fab day everyone :)

    Morning :)

Another tired soul here :o My poorly DD was coughing all night & kept us all awake, not her fault but really feeling it this morning. DD is still asleep & I'm reluctant to wake her but she's supposed to be at college later, might just keep her off again.

Well yesterday I did a really long walk - over 2 hours!! Thoroughly enjoyed it though - the walk & the company :) Agree with maman it's important to get as much fresh air & daylight as possible at this time of year.

Hope everyone has a good day today, best wishes to those with aches & pains, get well soon.

  • I've come to the conclusion I must be solar powered. On a bright sunny day I have a modicum of va va boom but on dark grey murky days like today my energy levels hit rock bottom and all I want to do is sleep.

Today I've accomplished very little, woke up with a poorly tummy.

My hair is as flat as a pancake, I'm pale and pasty, my skin feels like I've spent a month in a desert, my eyes look as dead as the eyes of a cod on a fishmongers slab and I just seem to hover up food. It's as of my brain thinks there's a famine on the horizon and my body needs to stoke up.

No exercise - just too shattered.:(

    Where's my mojo???

I will look for it tomorrow. :rotfl: G'night all x
  • Hi All. Disastrous on fabbing side. I had to collect some lamps that i had bought from a novice ebayer who wanted me there on the dot of noon. So i belted out of the house with minimum ablutions and make up. Well the lamps were fabulous (large handpainted chinese ginger jar) and he lived in a multi million pound mansion. However he was totally fed up with ebay. It was his first ever sale and he only got £22 each for them! He was so annoyed he had cutoff the plugs and removed the bulbs. He had also sold a lovely lamp to someone for just 99p and yhey had not replied to emails for come to collect. So spent the day looking around leafy Surrey.
