    Molly that's great news :D

    MrsW hope you're OK xx

Feel tireder than a tired thing today.

I struggle to shape my nails into an oval, I have quite square fingernails :o I used to suffer with nail envy over a girl at work who had lovely slender fingers and gorgeous oval shaped nails. Hate my stubby ones :o

Hope you are less tired - don't forget your Vit D today.

Square fingers and nails are supposed to denote that you are a very practical, capable character with a strong artistic bent.:)

Don't try and force your nail into an oval if it's not meant to be - a "squoval" is good.;)

I went for my twice monthly counselling session yesterday and was talking to him about this thread. He said that this is part of my "therapy" as it is really important to do everything impossible to improve self-esteem. My counsellor and my husband had said they could both see a really noticeable improvement in my appearance and that I was taking pride :T:T:T

Dr LL and the team at your service.:rotfl::rotfl:

Actually this thread is good therapy for me too. ;)

Mrs W - What a lovely uplifting post. Am glad that you are bearing up so well and that is good news about kitty. Hope the mental trauma eases off soon and that she loses her "stranger" fear.

Sorry about your ring - fingers crossed it turns up. TBH I wasn't as diligent as you with my engagement ring. I was so busy comforting the children about their things and dealing with the aftermath it never occurred to me to alert the jewellers.

I still keep a lookout when I visit antique fairs etc just in case it ever crops up but so far no luck.

I fully understand what you say about increasing security - no-one likes to live in Fort Knox. However, after being burgled twice I did take a few extra measures. Burglar alarm, extra locks and bolts, planted some prickly shrubs next to the fence, we had already dug up the lawn and replaced with gravel anyway. It's easy to be wise after the event.

I now have a small wall safe for "good jewellery", cash, credit cards, passports etc.

I've photographed all other jewellery and large ticket items, cameras etc. I keep all receipts (I have them going back years now).

BTW if they've stolen items that you don't have receipts for it can help if you have kept the boxes. Luckily I was using some of the boxes for larger items to store stuff in the loft - the insurance company accepted those as proof of purchase.

The police did tell us that Nov through to Feb were the busiest times for burglary, often in the afternoon and definitely in the run up to Christmas.

Have just spoken to FIL - 89years old. He put his overcoat over the back of a chair whilst he went to order his meal at a cafe he visits 2 to 3 times a week. Someone took his debit card and credit card which he had left in his pocket. Horrible people.

He was quite shaken and upset. Luckily he contacted the bank straight away and they are doing what's necessary.

The same day that you were targeted OH's PA's daughter was also burgled. Unfortunately she, her husband and young baby were asleep at the time (middle of the night). The poor girl is in a terrible state.

"Bad peoples" - as my DS1 would say.

On balance though I would agree with Mrs W fortunately there are more good peeps than bad ones.

Polesalot I am so sorry to hear your news. Do take good care of yourself and allow yourself time to grieve. Lots and lots of hugs to you.

Well not much happening here - my sis here today - we did some baking - OH loves to eat the cake mixture (urgh!!) so he was happy.

It's very dark and murky here again - like Bitsy I seem to be permanently tired at the moment and have zero energy - perhaps it's the lack of bright light.

I vote we all feed ourselves up from now until Christmas, tuck in to a lovely Christmas lunch, then hibernate till April. Then we would wake up - having slept ourselves slim - just like bears do.

Think of the money we'd save and how sleek and trim we would be for the Spring.:rotfl:

    Bye for now x

Thanks LL I know I'll be fine eventually, it's just at that horrid raw stage.

Your poor FIL. There really are some horrid people out there. They are probably all blaming it on the credit crunch. I hope he doesn't feel bad for too long and the bank looks after him well. Years ago I worked on plastic fraud for a famous high street bank. We dealt with about 20 branches and at any given time we had at least 300 different plastic thefts that we were dealing with. Really opens your eyes.

Enjoy the products of your baking - I bet your house smells wonderful :)

  • So sorry to hear about your break-in Mrs W., and also your FIL and friend LL. Mum and Dad's old bungalow was broken into when they were away. Mum thought they'd taken her grandmother's brooch but luckily we found it in a drawer months afterwards when we were sorting through. She was so pleased! Our cat had a very bad limb for a while, don't know if he'd been kicked or hit by a car. After we'd taken him to the vets he ran away for about 48 hours. We were frantic, but he gradually got back to normal, although he still doesn't like strangers. Sorry to hear your news Polesalot. Take care of yourself.

    Hello all,

just wanted to pop back with some positive news- we found the Ring!!!!! am so so happy- it was caught up in some of the clothes they had chucked around:j will definitely be taking a photo of it and getting a valuation done...that was the one thing that I was really upset over so much happier now- the alarm is now installed and running so feel better there too and just had a call from my lovely cousin who is a builder- he, his brother and Dad are coming over next week to sort out a new sturdier fence...how lovely is that?

he's told me what I need to order and then they will come up and do it for us- with MrWoolfe's help of course, honestly he made me cry a little - why is when someone is kind to you after a bad thing you cry???? I tried to thank him but he just did the gruff " I'm your cousin- looking after you is what I do"...will have to cook up some of his favourites to thank him xx

Polesalot- sorry to hear your news, take your time and take care of yourself hun (((hugs)))

LL- sad to hear about your FIL and DH's PA- it's such a horrible thing to happen- I never can understand how people can do these things and not feel like utter !!!!!....

to everyone on this lovely lovely (extremely therapeutic for me!) thread- hello, thank you for all the kind messages and keep up the fab work!

Goodness me....I only popped out to the shops for a few hours and have come back to the thread to find more distressing news!!

You poor soul Polesalot. Lots and lots of :grouphug: to you. It's so sad, especially when it's happened so unexpectedly. But, try and not go the "Heartbreak Diet" way!! Your DD needs you and you are the most important person in her life, so you'll need to keep it together, for her sake as well as yours, even though you are in the "raw stage" at the moment. Much love to you Sweetheart.

And LL.......that's just shocking about your 89 year-old FIL!!! How could anybody be so heartless to such an elderly gentleman!!!

At least ther's some good news from Mrs W!!! That's GREAT that you've found your ring....yay!!!!:T

Never thought I'd find myself thinking "What is the world coming to", (as a child of the sixties, that was for "old folk", but maybe it's 'cos I'm now one of them myself!!LOL)....but I SO am!!!!

To everyone...I hope and wish that no-one else suffers any traumatic situations, that those that have find some peace and respite and that you all have a safe, stress-free and happy journey on the remaing days till the Solstice...and thereafter, of course!!

Mrs Woolfe, what a lovely positive post, love your attitude. Glad the kitten is not badly hurt, I'm sure she (and you) will bounce back again with plenty of love. And so pleased for you that your precious ring wasn't taken!

LL, That's awful about what happened to your FIL, some people have no shame, have they?

I can't say what I feel about scum like that :silenced:

Polesalot So sorry to hear about your split, most of us have been through a similar experience and can empathise. Try and just look forward to giving your daughter a fab Christmas.

Look who I found lurking at the side of our thread
    cardsgone.png

How dare he!!!! I'd hate to be him when the BIG BAD WOOLFE gets hold of him!

Sorry to make light of things, but I thought it was so apt to see him there.

Great, great news about your ring MrsW. The Insurance claim will be hassle but at least that's mostly for 'stuff' and your rellies are being so kind to sort the fence. You've obviously got us all thinking hard as a result of your misfortune. My DH collects antiquarian maps and many of them are quite valuable. I told him tonight he MUST photograph them all and do an inventory, so I'll be nagging him to get that done. I'll do my jewellery at the same time.

Sorry to hear about your FIL, LL, despicable. I know it's gone on for years but I'm confident it's getting worse with the recession.

:grouphug: polesalot I'm sure it's better in the long term as if he was going to pull out it's better than raising your hopes but you must be feeling very raw at the moment. Try to plan something nice for you and DD or have some friends around. Chin up.

Managed a little (cheap) fabbing today. Did OCM particularly on my chin and nose. I'm not in the habit yet but I'm persevering. Had lovely shower, hairwash, slathering etc Also, decided I was going out for a walk as a bit of blue sky appeared. DH volunteered to come with me:j We had a really lovely time, all urban but very nice. Walked for an hour or so and felt much better for it.

    Sleep well everyone.
