What's the problem, hun. How can I help??

Just one thing - 100 days is nothing when compared with the rest of your life. Don't be too hard on yourself.

I started this journey about 11 months ago - yes I've lost over a stone but look how long it's taken me.

Be patient, sweetheart, keep at it and I promise you, you will see light at the end of the tunnel.

Just keep going, little and often, one step at a time.

Don't measure your progress against others, you're the one that counts. Do it for you, in your own sweet time and at your own pace.

How is your haircut settling down. Perhaps you could have a little play with make-up, maybe try something new to go with your new hairstyle.

Do something nice - just for you, a bath with some pampering goodies, a gentle walk, read a nice book or watch a film - something that gives you pleasure will help you to stay upbeat and motivate you.

    Big hugs.

My hair's fine now it's been washed, I think it was just the fringe that looked odd coz he'd styled it. :o

I don't have much makeup that's suitable now really. I still have fluorescent pink and electric blue eyeshadow from when I was 15

The Boots extra points thingy is coming up soon (26th October) so if I have birthday money I may buy a new eyeshadow or two...

Also, I have some cross stitch to do now so I can do this :D

I haven't lost any weight to get into my dress for my birthday and I have no shoes! Grr.

Has life been getting in the way Willow or is it an attack of the CBA?

Hi All. Just got back from the hairdresser and my hair looks great. A couple of years ago I found this amazing hairdresser (I asked someone with fab hair who she goes to). He isn't fashionable or dressed in black with a chi chi salon but does an excellent job of base colour, cut and highlights for £52-69 a visit which in London is excellent value. My neighbours all pay £160!!! I haven't done any packing as I had a dreadful night's sleep - so tonight I am off to bed early and then I have one day to blitz house, pack, buy euros, print tickets etc. The joys of travel - you need a holiday after all the preparations. Hope you all had a good day.

BTW I am just wondering here if I can help somebody before my holiday. I have absolutely amazing skin for my age (mid fifties) no spots, blemishes or wrinkles. Part of it is genetics and part of it is my skin care regime which you may find is also suitable for you. My skin is "normal" i.e. it is not dry or oily...and I am prone to the very occasional blemish on my chin. At night:
    1. Remove make up using a cleansing wipe or a cotton wool ball dabbed with water and then a liquid cleanser.
    2. Then I wash my face with a facial wash - again something inexpensive (under £2 and from Tesco) and for a sensitive skin. I dry with a towel.
    3. I moisturise with a simple cleanser (Simple range) and use vaseline on my lips.
    In the morning:
I use a the facial wash and the same daytime moisturiser. Nothing I use costs more than a couple of quid and I think the most important thing is to get rid of all traces of makeup and not drag the skin with my fingers. I also stay out of the sun.
If any of you are battling with this issue - please give my regime a try. And I am struggling with weight loss so if there is anyone out there who has any tips for me these will be gratefully received.

Have you spoken to him about this? Asked him to restrict eating these when you are not around etc?

Can you not cope being around these foods? Find them irresistible? I tend to try and visualise these foods mixed with stuff that makes me gag, sprouts, human hair, mackerel etc. Might be worth trying some negative associations with these foods to lessen their appeal??? Xxx

Lack of support can be a real bar to losing weight. I think this is where you might find joining a slimming club very helpful. You will get support not just from your leader but also from the other members. Plus they discuss things and you pick up all sorts of useful tips so it's important to stay for the actual meeting and not just be weighed and then go.

TBH Willow - it sounds as if you haven't quite got your "dieting head" on at the moment. I find you need to have your head in the right place first in order to be successful. Sometimes it simply isn't the right time.

If this is the case for you I would forget the word "diet" for now and just concentrate on healthy eating and try and do a bit more exercise. Don't set yourself unreasonable goals and unrealistic targets - that just sets you up for failure and makes you feel worse than ever.

Just be kind to yourself and eat good healthy food, good proteins for energy and bone strength, fruit and vegetables etc, some healthy carbs such as wholemeal bread, potatoes, pasta - not too many though, better to "fill up" with vegetables and salads.

Re your OH and his crisp/biscuit/cake habit. Could you get yourself some nice healthy treats so that instead of feeling deprived when you watch him tuck in, you have something nice to nibble on.

This is where a well stocked fruit bowl comes into its own. Your OH can stuff his face with empty calories (there is absolutely no nutritional value to crisps, cakes, or biscuits) whilst you can feast on healthy nutritious foods such as grapes, apples, bananas, plums, nectarines, clementines - all packed with vitamins to keep you healthy and your skin glowing.

For a treat, instead of fatty, sugary puddings try a couple of squares of good quality chocolate. Bliss.

Realistically - you can't really expect your OH not to eat whatever, whenever he likes in his own home - that wouldn't be fair. So I don't really suggest that you make a song and dance about this, it will only upset him and cause friction in your relationship.

Many of us with children have exactly this problem, my sons enjoy all the puddings and goodies, so does my OH so I do have to buy and cook them and then resist them. Quite difficult sometimes but I just steel myself to do it.

In fact my OH has to eat at least 3000 calories a day just to maintain a reasonable weight otherwise he gets dangerously underweight.

The amount of food he eats is astonishing - and it's all high calorie stuff, pies, pastries, puddings, cakes etc It's very hard for me when he's tucking into croissants, pan au chocolate or cornish pasties. I can't even go into another room whilst he tucks in because I have to physically spoon feed him. I'm almost salivating sometimes watching him eat, then I have to go and tuck into a plate of "rabbit food". Still that's my choice.

I'm afraid there aren't really any short cuts to this, I guess you just have to want it badly enough. If so, then get organised, keep the fruit bowl and fridge well stocked with healthy nutritious food and keep a picture in your mind of how great you'll feel when you've reached your goal weight.

Try visualising how fab you'll look, imagine how much energy and vitality you will have, the compliments you will get and the admiring glances from handsome young men.:D:D

Keep busy and happy, eat well and exercise, a little bit of TLC, a little bit of pampering, take care of the grooming - it will all come together in the end. Fabness will come.

    Trust me.:D

Sophistica - well done on the skin care routine.

I second the use of the Simple range. When I did my beauty therapy training our tutor recommended it - they do a wide range of basic skin care products to suit most skin types, there's rarely an allergic reaction and they are a good price.

I've asked him so many times to help me out by buying less of these foods and stop eating so much in front of me. Thing is though, we're in a studio flat so I can't ask him to go into another room to eat.

Right that's it, I'm not helping him out so much for food shopping coz then he'll just buy rubbish and I won't have any money left over to buy healthy things for me. It always happens. We order off Asda online and I'll buy some fruit and veg for me then he'll realise that he can't buy so much rubbish so my stuff has to go first....I had to take my bananas off the list for some sweets I think.
