So it's not just me who has a thing against hairdresser and changing room mirrors
I don't mind changing room mirrors but hairdresser mirrors are really unkind
Also, I'm getting my hair done Saturday - why does it always look fab a few days before I have something major done to it????:cool:It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
I've had my hair done now. I never like it for the first week but when it kind of settles down a bit it's lovely.Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.0

A very productive day;)
Picked up a lovely little red coat from Barnados - size 14 & it almost fits - just another half stone.:rotfl::rotfl:
It's only man made fibres and it's a bit "on trend" so not really a long term investment coat but at £6-50 I'm not complaining. I have been dithering over a long Aquascutum number but it's cherry red and I really want fire-engine red so I'll just wait until I find the perfect coat and make do with my "Red Riding Hood" coat for now.
I also picked up a really fab pair of black leather Clarks knee high boots, brand new £8 from CS, quite dressy with a chunky 2" heel and then, lo and behold, in ASDA I bought a pair of chocolate brown pair of leather "riding" boots for £38.
So a nice few additions to my winter wardrobe at just over £50 - not too bad.
The temperature is plummeting here - I think we're in for some "weather" - the lady at ASDA said I was buying boots at just the right time because snow is on its way.
Anyway not much news.
Off to exercise and then cook dinner - the vegetarian option today - baked 50p çåuliflower cheese & left over new potatoes served with roast (whoopsie) parsnips. Cheap and cheerful.
Well çan't afford smoked salmon & caviar when I buy two pairs of boots in one day.:D
Hope you are all well. Bye for now.0 -
I managed to get a pair of those Asda riding boots LL. Was lucky as there were only two pairs left, one happened to be in my size!0

Hello Ladies and Lurkers!
Hope we are all doing well!
LL your talk of boots made me chuckle slightly- I have a paid of flat black boot i love and have had for over 4years, they are past their best but because they are so comfy and lovely I wear them anyway- I thought I'd wear them today with a black/white/yellow shift dress I picked up a couple of weeks ago in tesco's sale...but noticed at lunch that the body of the boot is coming away from the sole:o so will be hunting for some more asap! I do have wellies in case of snow though so will be ok!
!!!!!!- awww that's such a lovely post!!!
And to you all: thank you so much for all the hugs and positive messages- it really means a lot to me:D:A.
Bratz- I'm a bit jealous of your dress sounds so lovely!
well, today have not yet done much- but had a very productive work-day am storming through and getting lots done which at least gives me a bit of a lift and feel like I've acheived something,
painted my toe-nails yesterday and have to sa they look really cool, chose a pewter colour that MIL gave me and it looks fab on, trimmed and tidied fingernails- they were getting scary long:o but not painted them so might do that tonight mainly I want a bit of a chill out so will probably pop a face mask on and watch some telly- I did notice WIld Sargasso Sea was on BBC4 but DH was watching something else so might try and catch that on iPlayer...
hugs and sparkles to all of you!!

Hey Everyone,
LL - Interesting reading RE the Derbyshire history/tourist info, I'm from Derbyshire (North East) but haven't really explored the area - apart from the Matlock chip shops that is, lol! Congratulations on finding the Clarks' boots - what a bargain!!! :T
MrsW - Sorry for your loss (((hugs)))
Lizzie - Congratulations on signing up for the counselling, and also on speaking up about the letter issue! :T
Your course sounds like the one I've just finished (DD101). Do they offer online tutorials? I did them on my last course and although they probably aren't as helpful as face-to-face ones, they are better than nothing. I've just started DSE212 and can't make the tutorials, they don't do online ones either so I'm feeling a bit lost and lonely with it, it's also a bit nerve wracking as this module has an exam at the end (will be my first with the OU!) so I could really do with the support from the tutorials.
!!!!!! - Fab post!!!You may not feel good about yourself now, but you're making positive steps to change it... so no more feeling like a fraud!
Keep at it, and keep posting, and you will soon get into the 'fab' way of thinking
.
Well I've been muddling along, doing the odd bit of pampering here and there, but I'm struggling to get into a routine. I have made a few small ongoing changes - I bought a new shampoo, it's quite pricey for a shampoo (Aveda), but it's supposed to be really good. I tried it for the first time today and it has made a difference already!!! :T It's only a slight improvement, but I'm hoping that continuous use will finally sort my hair out (it's a dry, frizzy mess at the moment!). I've also been keeping up with my MicroDermabrasion body scrub and body cream routine, and I'm actually really impressed with the results! My arms in particular are really silky and smooth and my skin is actually 'glowing'.
I think my face is the next thing to focus on, I bought a new cleanser yesterday. It's one that you use with cotton wool pads, I bought it thinking that it's something I can do in front of the TV/laptop, along with my serum and moisturiser, so I should end up using it more often than my 'wash off' ones - no more quick fix cleansing wipes for me!!!0 -
Very quick post as should be in bed!
Deighted that at today's weigh-in, I'm now lighter than before I went on holiday! so this week's healthy eating has definitely paid off.
DH and I went to Ikea tonight (more bits for wardrobes etc) and I was sorely tempted to say let's go to the chippy but I didn't:A. I came home and cooked the healthy dinner I'd planned even if it did mean we sat down to eat at 9.30! I'll have some treats over the weekend though as I don't want to go too much below target.
Well done on your fashion buys LL (and you too verynewmoneysaver). They sound very good and £50 isn't bad for such staples. It's getting really cold here too but I'm really trying hard not to plunge right into winter clothes just yet. I had my denim jacket, little cardi underneath and a scarf on today but it wasn't enough, ended up with heating on tonight.
I like the sound of your changes lolly, well done you for experimenting. If you don't try and all that! I must say I did laugh at the idea of you and Mrs Woolfe of an evening. She sitting there with her face pack and you doing cleansing and creaming in front of the laptop!!:rotfl:
This post is growing, I'm too much of a chatterbox! I'll catch up with the rest of you all tomorrow.

hi,
Lolly- I'm also from NE derbyshire and yes it is the same course. There was a on -line tutorial but it seems to have disappeared from my page, may have to get on to tutor about it. Good luck with your course was thinking of going for 1 that had an exam myself but chickened out in the end-maybe next year.
!!!!!!-lovely post.
LL- your purchases sound lovely. Have started to feel the cold last few days. Hard to believe this time last week it was so hot.
Maman- well done on resisting the chippy :T. Have made some small changes to my diet this week -felt sluggish and unhealthy after eating rubbish on hol.Frump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler

Morning all,
Been feeling rather rubbish yesterday - was thinking whether I had turned into a total lightweight as I did go out on the Wednesday night but only had a couple of drinks and left early so was feeling rather hard done by to be ill!Think is perhaps a bit of a bug though as ended up going to bed when I got home last night which is very unlike me. Not too bad this morning so am hoping will be all better for tonight as meant to be having some friends coming round for a few drinks as is my birthday on Sunday - would be typical for me to be ill for it lol!
So nothing done yesterday, and had half a tub of ice cream - for purely medicinal purposes of course :rotfl: Was thinking though that I can definately see myself making more of an effort when I go places now, even if it's just to work. Am slowly building up my wardrobe so I have items that I feel good in rather then whatever I can pick up first, am using accessories and make up more - so I might not make the weight goal I was aiming for for my birthday but there are definately positive changes being made
Am still feeling a little urghy so not going to comment too much but yay on people's lovely bargins and !!!!!! that was a lovely post, really made me smile on a day when I'm not feeling too great so thank you x0
