Quick post: sorry to hear some of you are suffering with the heat. I just love it, but worry not it won't be lasting more than a few days.

I was chatting with someone last week about the problems of just taking hand luggage on flights. Her issue was that she couldn't take her hair mousse as a can was more than 100ml. That got me thinking that I'd not used it for ages. So I've used it the last couple of washes and not only does it give my hair body but it's so much better when I get hot and sticky or wet in fine rain. So that's another bit of fabness to build into my routine.

Like you LL, I've got some tan back and so haven't needed any foundation or anything but I've been slathering after my shower and making up my eyes in the evenings plus lippy so feeling good.

One post that really stuck in my mind when catching up was Lizzie. I'm so sorry you're feeling down with relationship problems. I should go for the counselling and any other help on offer. And stick around on here too. It'll give you someone to sound off too and if we can help you feel good about yourself that'll be a plus too. I remember going through a really bad patch some years ago. My doctor asked if I looked forward to anything and I realised I didn't. This was despite all sorts of holidays and what anyone else would think of as treats. My depression was caused by my (then) very stressful job and sadness at DD1 breaking up with SIL. I haven't got any magic answers but healthy eating, taking care of yourself (i.e.fabness), plenty of sleep, fresh air and exercise all help. I think, for me, it was about taking control of the parts of my life that I could control that really helped.

Off to bed now. Back tomorrow.

    Hi Everyone

A lot cooler here today, still managed to get OH into the garden for an hour or so. Going to make the most of these last few days because realistically, although I can work in the garden and keep warm, OH feels the cold so he won't be sitting out much longer.

Hope those who were suffering from the heat feel more comfortable today. Now that it is cooler I plan to start exercising again - I have been very remiss of late.:o

Woke up feeling grotty today (something I ate) so have been taking it relatively easy. Have managed to re-upholster two dining chairs, will try and finish the other two in a bit. Other than that, just cook a nice dinner and rest a bit.

Hopefully, OH's full time PA will be back tomorrow - she was off sick all last week. She had a fluey thing and I wouldn't let her near us. OH has a very compromised immune system and we have to try and avoid contact with people with bugs. Problem is I've not managed to get out and about much this last week or so and get anything done - so next week I will need to get busy.

Lots of plans, ideas and things to do - as usual.:rotfl:

Hope you've all had a great weekend.

Are we ready for the final countdown (da da da da).

Ladies, 12 and a bit weeks until the Solstice - time to up the ante.:)

For those who are struggling, and a bit down in the dumps, just keep going. Remember the elephant.

Like you I will not make my final weight loss by then, but hopefully, will be a stone closer. Currently a size 16, 14 would be nice. So that's my next target.

    Onwards and upwards. x

A good day today with a 7 hr hill walk meaning 7000 kcals were burnt off and I'm intaking approx 3000 today to replenish

    Pleased with 2 things
    1. my fitness levels were good today and so much better than in the summer meaning my legs are a little tired now but recovered well from that long intense hill walk
    2. my walking trousers now fit brilliantly compared to how they did in June. No more squeezing into them as before.

I am surprised how much difference there is between end of June and end of Sept in terms of weight loss and fitness and clothes fitting

Just goes to show if you stick at it for 3mths it is well worth the result in the end and I'm only mentioning this to try and motivate you if you're feeling fed up with it all.

I was fed up thinking it wasn't making any difference at all and then after a couple of months it started to pay off and I could see the difference for myself - so stick at it ladies it will be worth it in the end! Let's all go for it! Winter fabiness here we come ready and waiting for it!

Amazing weight loss everyone. I laughed when I thought of my post on why diets are not working for me. If I spend the day working at the computer in my PJs and the only exercise is drinking a cup of tea...what can I expect?

Great news about the trousers sparkles, and good on you for all the exercise and burnt calories!

Like LL, I must get going back on the exercise soon. We did walk miles sightseeing last week so I'm hoping I won't have put on too much when I weigh in on Thursday. My DH is a fast walker (no ambling for him) so I think we burnt off a fair bit of the sangria and tapas!:rotfl:

Although it's really lovely and hot and sunny here I know it won't last and I'm starting to think about tights for the autumn/winter as I'm planning to wear more skirts and dresses. Apparently Kate (aka Duchess of Cambridge) has started a trend for American Tan sheer tights (remember those;)) but I'm not sure that's my thing. Can anyone recommend good brands/colours for tights? I want some really smooth opaques both for every day and for 'best' (i.e. special occasions) and suggestions for sheer for evenings and mild days. What does everyone else wear?

morning all - haven't been on for a few days but I've caught up I think with all posts :)
I was terribly bad at the weekend, too much alcohol and too many carbs/junk stuff but I did get all dolled up to go out on Saturday night so I was half fab lol

Still, must get back to being good food wise now, too much junk makes me sluggish and a bit down. Also, am now walking home from work too these days since my fiance moved office and can't pick me up, so an hour of walking a day (split into two x 30mins) should be good for me.

    Good morning fellow fabbers :D

I was really good last week, I only ate three cornish pasties :DI brought 10 home with me though, lol. Ate plenty of salad and granary bread and drank many bacardis.

My hip still isn't back to normal. I dosed myself up with painkillers, brufen and balmosa cream so I could walk up and down hills and steep harbour steps. The exercise has done it a world of good, I can now go up the stairs without using the handrail and step into my over-the-bath shower without having to steady myself on the wall :D

It's cool here at the moment so I'm going to do some tidying in the garden before it gets too hot. There's not much that needs doing really, I just want to keep my hip moving. Walking around my area doesn't have the same appeal as walking around harbour villages.

I'm off to file my feet and paint my toenails, hope you all have a good day :)

  • Morning everyone.Just spent the weekend sorting Mum and Dad's bungalow down south with my sister. We worked solidly all weekend and moved dozens of boxes to dump, charity shop ect. Back aching a lot this morning so will try to take it a bit easier today, although have brought several boxes up with me to take to their sheltered housing .Have enjoyed wearing summer clothes the last couple of days even though didn't get a chance to see much of the sun. Unfortunately I think my sister may have sent my best T-shirt and nighty to the charity shop with the other stuff!

I tend to buy 100 denier opaques from Tesco, their microfibre ones are really long-lasting, usually in black although have bought some 60 den teal & maroon opaques this autumn. I also like patterned ones to wear with my black, grey or maroon shift dresses & black patent lace-up shoes - adds a bit of interest! These I pick up from Primark, Tesco, Asda or Matalan. Re sheer, during the colder months I only ever wear "natural" or barely black when going out - too cold for me otherwise!

Don't worry - even a blob of handcream every now & then counts, as does a squirt of perfume to cheer yourself up!
