amsjrt wrote:Yes, you read right. For example, I order a dvd of £6.99, they simply cancel my order (with £5 vouchers) and not refund the difference ie £1.99!!
I made about 11 orders over the whole of last week, and most of them cost are between £6.99 to £8.99, so with £5 vouchers, so we are talking total of £30-40 refund here.
I agree that what I did is abusing the system, and should not make a buss about it. I'll probably let go if it's less than £5, but not that much.....

But they arent even supplying the goods
How are they going to justify this on their accounts, surely this is going to give them a bigger nightmare when the 'system' will show they have charged for goods that they havent supplied.
think 11 orders in a week was a bit daft though (IMHO) no wonder they rumbled you

Not defending them just pointing out that we all knew we were skating on thin ice. Hope all money is refunded obviously0 -
no I realise what you were saying, just cant get my head around the justification of what they have done although I can see why they would try and do it.
There was a lot of trouble with littlewoods codes that got 'exploited' and all those who used them were charged full price after the fact, as you said we all knew the risks.

amsjrt wrote:Hi,
Does anyone have their orders cancelled but not getting their refund back?
I made a few orders last week, but they were all cancelled, then I checked my credit card and they are not refunded. So I sent an email querying when are my refunds, and below is the reply:amsjrt wrote:I used credit card to buy the dvds. I think I'll try to reply to them asking for refund before going the dispute route with my credit card company. If I raise the dispute case with my credit card company, does this affect credit scoring or is this something troublesome to do eg have to answer questions, write in to apply the dispute? I wouldn't borther if this takes a lot of work to do.

Firstly, have you been using one account for all the orders - if so, then obviously you might want to re-consider doing that as it makes it a little too obvious.
Performing a "chargeback" / initiating a "dispute" with your credit card does not affect your credit score.
What usually happens is: your credit card company will freeze the transaction (so you pay no interest on it); they'll usually send you a form to fill in (obviously in this case it'll be non-delivery of goods) and then they'll "investigate" it. With CD-wow it'll mean the company they use for processing the transaction will have their funds reversed. You'll then get a refund - since CDwow haven't (and aren't going to) send the goods.
You could try and reply to them saying that if a refund is not forthcoming you will assume their action constitute a binding contract and will therefore expect delivery of the goods shortly.
Not matter the rights and wrongs of it - they know about the voucher problem and have had ample time to solve it - so i have absolutely no sympathy whatsoever. Furthermore, they can cancel the orders if they want (as is their right, provided they do so within the terms of their own terms and conditions) - they cannot, however, do what they are trying to do - which strictly speaking could be viewed as theft or fraud.0 -

They even e-mailed me another voucher when an DVD was supposedly out of stock (received it two days earlier).
If you're stupid enough to place 3 orders (i.e. greedy) a day every day, then you're asking for trouble and deserve to get your orders cancelled IMHO.No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
Well, my third and last try of the day has avoided the Worldpay screen !
Have given the order a go, not much to lose if I fall flat on my face !
Hope you get things sorted amsjrt...0 -
I have a question about ordering . If you order something that's not released until next Monday do they charge you when it's despatched or straight away?0

Hello
Thank you for your e-mail.
The reason you have not been getting your refunds is because it costs the company money to keep processing refunds on your orders that have vouchers on that you are not entitled too. We have cancelled many of your orders for voucher abuse and sent you emails to advise you are breaking our terms and conditions, yet you still continue to put the orders through.
Until you stop doing this we will not accept orders from you as you are breaking our terms and conditions over and over again and are again costing the company money to process refunds.
Any future orders you place whereby you are using the vouchers you are not entitled to, your order will be cancelled but not refunded.
Kind Regards
Vicky

Is this legal? First of all, I did not receive any emails and the orders were simply cancelled and no replies from them. So I was not warned about this.
I want to know can they do this, ie not refunding, simply keep quiet about until I sent an email asking it?
amsjrt
It's quite ironic that some posters (though not amsjrt to be fair) are getting so hot under the collar on this one. I did warn you all about this scenario in my previous post on this thread.
It's ironic in the sense that MSE is sometimes billed as being about "consumer revenge" but here what we seem to have is "company revenge"
Let's call this what it is shall we?
Many of you have knowingly used and re-used a voucher that you weren't entitled to and publicised it. In some cases you have even boasted here of how much you have taken from this company, that you know you should not have had.
That is fraud or simple theft and either are criminal offences - nothing more, nothing less. To be blunt (more blunt than some of you will like) if I worked for CD-Wow and I uncovered this, and could see what you had done, I'd be calling the police, not just keeping the payments in on your fraudulent offers.
I'm not saying it's necessarily right for them to take that approach, but I don't particularly blame them either, and I certainly think it's daft in the extreme for posters to get all moral about "is this legal" in the circumstances.
For those of you with a long order trail there, and sitting on piles of ill-gotten goods, I'd be very concerned if I were you that now they have worked this out they might eventually come after you for the money.0 -
Next you'll be telling us you emailed cd-wow to tip them off.
Why do so many people worry about what others are up to?
I bet you've used a supermarket code before that you weren't issued with?
That's just as much commiting fraud, so get off your moral high-horse.Fog on The Tyne isn't mine all mine... but if I wanted it, I'd want it with a discount code.0
