I want to add my voice to the many praising this site. I joined a few weeks ago and so far found it to be really useful! :T Its so easy to list items and to browse, very intuitive - and what a FAB idea! I listed a few things that would have ordinarily gone in the bin - some PS1 games without box or instructions for example - which were almost immediately snapped up. So far, for myself I nabbed an excellent cookbook, and a tamagotchi for my little boy! Yay!
I really hope this site really takes off as I think it has such potential - the amount of times we've dumped old furniture or old kids bikes etc when actually someone may have wanted them. If their members grew so you had more in your local area making more pick-ups possible then that would be great. I emailed my local council and local newspaper about the site and the council replied they would add a link on their recycling pages, though no reply from the newspaper. They've also got a competition on at the moment offering a £50 Amazon voucher for the member who has referred the most people to the site - I'll be trying!!!

Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure
  • I think it's a great site and have just signed up. I'm sure it will catch on if we all spread the word :)
Don't sweat the small stuff ................It's all small stuff!

  • yep definitely the more sign up the better, I've just noticed in their forum that they've provided flyers that you can print out and give to your friends. Wonder if you'd get away with pasting them round the local recycling bottle bins etc? ;)
I was having a browse at some of the things that have found new homes and theres some great things in there - kids roller skates, perfume, DVDs and videos, a freeview box and even a pocket PC! I actually saw the pocket pc listed on there but someone had emailed before me - I reckon you have to check often as the best stuff must get snapped up pretty quickly!
  • I agree, a fantastic site and an excellent idea although I could'ent find the printable flyers for distribution on the forum.
    Could someone direct me ?

    Cheers

  • oh for goodness sake these recycling tree-hugging hippies do my head in. If they had their way we'd all be walking round in old potato sacks (biodegradable ones obviously) By the time our grandchildren are in charge they'll have figured out a solution to the problem. Instead of landfills they'll probly work out a way to launch it into space - problem solved.
  • Honestly, I can't believe your attitude ted, are you american by any chance ?
Im sure your grandchildren will have figured out a soloution to the landfill problem by then, but first they will have had to evolve gills and flippers to enjoy their new underwater lives.

Take responsibilty or pay the price !
  • LemmysWart don't you think you're being a little Hollywood dramatic here! The media blows everything all out of proportion anyway, and if you look at earths history the climate has gone through these changes before. It all just goes in cycles. Very little we can do about it anyway - what difference is a little recycling here and there gonna make! Just a drop in the ocean!
