Obviously has a bee in their bonnet about paying £30 for a CHAPS fee. I refer back to an earlier post mate, BACS is not guaranteed to hit an account at a certain date, if you send it to an incorrect account number the onus is on you mate to get that money back, not the bank. A CHAPS transfer is secure, you are paying the banks involved a fee to handle your money safely and securely to get to its destination as quickly as possible.
If your BACS payment had been delayed, posted to the wrong account your deal with the solicitor would have been delayed and could have cost you more. It is obvious that the opinions of the staff who work there and know the system and deal with this day in day out (and also the people who comment on here) is insignificant to you, it's obvious you have a grudge because the bank were not able to carry out what you thought could be done. At the end of the day it is their business, if you don't like that then take it elsewhere.0 -

Let's have a whip round.0 -
If the banks are successful in abolishing cheques (hopefully not, but they usually get what they want) then something akin to branch-based BACS will have to be put in place. Of course they would like to force everyone to do everything mundane online, with the branches being just sales outlets for expensive products that nobody needs, but I don't think that will fly any time soon.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

LLoyds bank counter staff seem to be told to push everyone in the direction of a CHAPS payment (30 quid fee) when the BACS option *is* available. Some managers know this, and some are ignorant.
from lloyds very own website "The Bankers Automated Clearing Service (BACS) is a free service which can be used to make direct credits and debits. Payments using BACS will usually take three to four working days to credit the beneficiary's account. BACS will continue to handle payments that cannot be sent by the Faster Payment Service. Faster Payments is a service for personal and offshore customers that customers that lets you make single immediate (one-off) payments over the phone or online between participating banks, all day, every day. In most cases this cleared money will be available on the receiver's bank account almost immediately, but it can sometimes take a couple of hours to show."
note the magic word *free*. For those feeling the banks are doing something for nothing (heaven forbid), money is made from the time period it takes to move accounts.0 -

The answer, fairly conclusively, appears to be no.
So what's your point?0 -

To confirm it cannot go by BACS in branch. Can I find out my credit score? You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)0
