thanks, i will try this this time. But is it worth doing for those who have never done it before? ie is it worth doing if you don't have a priority booking form?

Art - yes it is worth it or keep an eye on the threads here as sometimes some very generous posters give their priority codes away of they are not using them.0

hi
I have just had a look on the Haven site and the prices for oct are only about £150 (except half term of course)
Does anyone know what price it work out at with the Sun offer?
If the offer can be used in late Aug or October i can see it would we worth it.
I will definately buy the newspaper and find out more, I suppose if i apply this year, then i might get a priority booking form for next year??
We can not take kids out of school in September, and probably should not in OCt as dd has just been diagnosed with learning difficulties... so we will need to book school holiday dates..
anyway thanks for the info

Hi its usually £9.50 per person. Some sites charge for entertainment passes and linen, servicing (ie cleaning + electricity). We went to Warmwell in Dorset over the halloween/half term from fri to mon (3 nights) and in total including linen, entertainment, servicing it worked out at £19 each for 8 of us. Although this did include being charged for our little boy who was a month off his 2nd birthday.
The only resort that I know you have to pay for the linen is Butlins as they dont allow you to bring your own but its something like £13 or so for the resort to supply. The entertainment costs vary from resort to resort. Again Butlins is the most expensive at £9.50 each but some resorts offer free entertainment passes.0 -
hi
thanks, I will get all the codes and see if i can apply for Oct half term- we might be lucky and get in without a priority booking at one of them!
Does anyone know which are the most popular places? I am thinking if we applied to the least popular we might be more likely to get the half term dates?
Are some companies eg Haven more popular than others?
We have a dog so cant do Butlins....
any info appreciated from those who have done this before,
thanks

you might find october half term not included in the dates , but i could be proved wrong , we have been on a couple of the sun £9.50 holidays , if you're flexible on the dates and the choice of campsites, plus not bothered about getting the lowest grade of caravan , then they are excellent value for money0

Hi MellyJ
We loved it. There is an alpine centre there and our boys and nephew learned to ski and snowboard. This is an extra charge the snowboarding was about £6 for just over half an hour but as it is very physical it was enough for the 7yr old and 5yr old. You have to do an initial learn to ski but once done you can then book to go on as many times as you like. Think it was about £10 an hour. The 15yr old was on the slope a lot.
The lodges at Warmwell were basic but clean and comfortable. They are set in woodland and laid out so you dont feel you are up close to neighbouring lodges. We had Deer wander around the patio area outside.
The entertainment is similar to what you get on haven, pontins etc. They do a lot for kids and get them up and involved with competitions between the Sid the seagull and Lizzy Lizard camps (odd no lodges V even no lodges) Great for littlies but our 15yo was a bit bored.
All in all a very good break. Our 3 bedroom lodge had us 5 plus BIL, SIL & nephew. The 15yo was on the pullout sofa in the lounge whilst our 2yo was in with us. They are lot more spacious than a caravan so plenty of space for the kids. Have fun0
