It was a bit of a random collection of sizes, mostly very small or very large - there's usually a few left that fit me :D I meant to go in another branch this morning to see what they had but totally forgot.

Found the free crisps coupon but gave it away, not likely to go near Waitrose any time soon in time to pick it up. Lol @ handing out the coupons!
  • hello all

not been posting much - really just been batch cooking (stirfry, pasta dishes, meatballs) and meal planning like crazy! trying to plan around what we already have in and have managed to eke it out to last until the end of the month - at least with regards to main meals!

making risotto and lasagna on monday, will be portioning those when cooked and will put in freezer, have all the ingredients already :)

been ploughing through the special k honey clusters cereal that I got with the coupons that essentially made it free (from last year), really nice. have another box of special k red berries I'll be working on next week lol!!

need to re-inventory cupboards again but otherwise well stocked and just need basics and fruit/veg as we go along :)

Vegan meal tonight, mostly dictated by the two veg boxes that turned up today - made mediterranean veg style risotto, with aubergine, vine tomatoes, courgette, fennel, ramiro pepper.

Finished up 1 jar of rice though not sure if it was carnaroli rice or paella rice as they look much the same! Still got 1 more jar of each left. Nothing used out of the freezer.

Called in at my local ethnic (North African/Mediterranean) foodstore on the way home, just for a look round. I like to see what unusual foodstuffs they have. I'd bought some filo pastry at Mr T near work, but it was much cheaper in the foodstore - should have known, really, with all the Greek sweets and similar that use filo pastry.
In the freezer I spotted some kataifi pastry and sambosa leaves (also pastry - not veg!), which I've never heard of; has anyone else, before I ask Mr Google?
    :)

I have just alot of things that need using up in the pantry, toiletry cupboards and the freezer is full to bursting so I have decided to use it all up the best I can.
First use up date is 20-6-13

    my rules

    - Have £20 emergency money to buy something that I have totally run out of ie oxo cubes or if there is a briliant whoopsie that is too good to leave on the shelf, but with only £20 it will stop me buying reduced items that all get used, but end up visiting the freezer first.
    - Buy the Super 6
    - I have wrote a list with 13 items on. I will only buy these as I need them and not stock pile ( as that is defeeting what I'm trying to do) My list is below and its harder than I thought to just choose 13 items

    Milk
    Eggs
    Yoghurt
    Cheese
    Bread
    Flour
    Sugar
    Broccoli
    Turnip
    Cucumber
    Potatoes
    Bananas
    Toothpaste

so hence this makes the date 20-6-13

we will see how it goes!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Morning all. Nice and bright but a chilly start.

Welsh Poppy - enjoy your hols. I'll be using up bits next week and just buying what's needed. Plan is to go for cheap Italian a week on Monday, then just get some buns and ham for sandwiches on plane. 6am flight, so not too sure if I'll be that hungry!!

    NSD yesterday.
Been to Lidl to get Brother's bacon (5 packs) and bought for myself - 1 pack of bacon for 99p, a pack of sausages for 74p, mint sauce for 49p and fudge for £1.25 - £3.47 spent so far today.
I need carrots, but might wait or just pick up few loose ones. I have enough potatoes and onions to get by and a couple of sweet potatoes left. I looked at the swede in Lidl's today, but tiny for 75p!!

Toast with jam for breakfast, h/m pizza later (naan bread) and will pop some vol-au-vent cases in and use last of pate.
Stir fries and curries planned and some pies in freezer - so just pick and choose on the day. We won't starve though. lol

Off to do my Brother's decorating later and then getting mine ready to start, but will leave mine until after hols.

    Morning all.

Looks a lovely day today.. about time. Still suffering from this cold. Felt really awful yesterday and I'm starting to get a bit chesty. Hope I'm not hacking away coughing at my interview on Monday.

Having Maccy D's for dinner today as I'm going to Asda. Annoying they have Maccy D's in Asda when there's one across the road!

Need to buy bits and pieces like alcohol for tonight lol. Dad has a bottle of tequilla stashed in his cupboard that he'll never drink so buying that off him. Also need lemons and munchies.

WP - Enjoy your holiday. Crossing my fingers the weather is nice for you.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Need to get something out of the freezer for tomorrow's dinner - but the workmen have moved things - can't find my freezer book.
We had the ready meal from the freezer - postponed from last night. Sweet and sour chicken plus extra long grain rice and naan bread. Not great but dinner. :(
