WP - what sad news but amazing age..

RS - ah well they worked quick though I'm a bit  at the thought of statins, I'd rather go vegan and that's saying something! :D - I've got to go and have a lot of other tests next week so found another dr who readily agreed for me to have mine tested while I was having other tests. But although I try and be reasonably healthy I've had the worst diet recently as I've been snacking on cakes and toast and things whilst the building work is going on as it's been difficult to cook much, though that may give me a shake up if it comes out high!!

So muesli for breakfast (forgot to get bread out of freezer so not much choice) but had it with vanilla dairy yoghurt... and the next couple of days will be healthier than the past few weeks, not that there is a lot of time to improve things... lots of veg, fruit and salad though not planned out meals yet, maybe stir fry, risotto. Have an organic veg box, salad box and fruit arriving from Abel & Cole later though that was ordered anyway before I knew I was having the tests. Not sure what I'll be having with it, maybe tofu though did order some haloumi too.. was going to make cakes when the eggs arrived later but may just leave it a few days till post test!

Hubby doesn't want to go near them either. He would have tried them until they told him once you start taking them, you are on them for life!!
He was thinking of 3 months or so.
BTW, he's lost 6.5kg since his "peak" in early January. Xmas took it's toll!!
As stated his cholesterol dropped from 7.9 to 6.1 in combination with diet, exercise and the weight loss. He was never "BIG" though and a max of 3kg to go if wanted. His BMI is only a tad over 25 now (was 27.6). I think he'll settle at just under 25 BMI as that was his goal - may be after holidays though. lol

Yep I'd rather do it that way ^ where poss and that was a great result just on diet alone in a short space of time. Are the drs just happy to let him see how he gets on and test periodically? I didn't know about the 'for life' thing but the links with R/arthritis ? and the fact they have just halved what they thought was the 'safe' dose all these years is worrying. My BMI is 21.48 ish, though weight varies by a few lbs up and down day to day. Max I'd want to lose is 4lbs ish (glad I didn't have it tested when I was shopping at the 'Company Shop' and had the extra half stone weight gain lol) so with that few lbs drop and maybe less snacks and cakes or less dairy if it came to it I can improve, but I don't have a lot to play with if it's high I guess..
  • Morning all.

I'm spent out! Went to the hatfield outlets, got 5 bras for £16.49 in m&s spent £34 there, spent £36 in body shop, another £40 in Costco and £40 the day before, £15 petrol contribution, Phew, it was all within a budget i set myself though and got stuff I needed.

Going.to have the last of the fruit smoothie for breakfast, maybe some crab and mayo pittas for lunch and the remainder of the Saltfish for dinner so no cooking.

Off out to a friends bday party tomorrow at a golf club, canapes and free drink.

Jane those biscuits sound yum, where are they from?

    Congrats on the new baby!

Bought a cheap business phone o. O2 so need to activate that so i can get my o2 moments freebies, lol I had ulterior motives lol.

6 months checks for the time being.
They seemed happy at 6.1 even though still high, but they know he's put the effort in.
Obviously loads can't or won't change and that's why they seem keen to give out the Statins. Genetics obviously have a bearing.
He knows he ate loads of cr4p, stopped exercising etc and he's cut right back on dairy products, eggs and prawns - I'll have the prawns. lol

Hopefully in September, he'll be at least stable or nearer to 5 or 5.5 max.
Fasting before a test makes sense as milk with cereal and drinks in the morning could/will affect results.
High cholesterol readings might indicate high levels of good cholesterol, so a break down would be advisable.
Nestle Factory Shop - I took a few bags of stuff to Son and Girlfriend last week. Staying away for a few weeks. lol
300g boxes of After Eights for 48p are tempting though. :D

    ms_night_ryder - great bargains.

Time for elevenses - a bit late!!

(I came across this amongst some recipes I'd cut out to keep, haven't tried it so can't vouch for the recipe:))

    How to eat grass
Fresh young wheat grass is both digestible and palatable when chopped very finely and scattered on salads, muesli, or in stews to make up 25% of the volume.
Grass can be dried in a thick layer on a cloth, laid on an oven rack or refrigerator shelf rack, and placed in a well-ventilated place or, for faster results, over a radiator, stove or hot air duct. Straw tastes like straw, so only green dried grass should be eaten. Powder it by first chopping finely, then putting through a grain, food or coffeemill several times.
Dried and powdered, it can be added to any food to boost its nutritional value. Or - and this must rank with the first potato as a food 'discovery' - it can be mixed in powdered form with wheat or barley flour to make up to 50% (but ideally 25%) of the volume, and baked into truly delicious and sweet-tasting biscuits.

    Chlorophyll cookies
Into 1/2 lb of wheat or barley flour, rub 1oz of fat or oil, and 1 tsp of salt.
When well amalgamated, add powdered grass to make up some 25 % the volume, plus enough liquid (ideally, milk or vegetable cooking water) to make a dough.
Beat the dough for 10 minutes with a rolling pin, then roll small pieces of it as thin as possible.
Pr1ck all over with a fork and bake in a very hot oven for 5 minutes or until brown-edged and crisp.
These store well in an airtight jar, and are excellent eaten with cheese and celery.

For a disguising savoury flavour, mix in to the dough 1 tbl of soy sauce (and adjust the other liquids) or dried vegetable powder, first reconstituted for 10 minutes in a little water.

To hide the green tinge of the biscuits, add to the dough a few drops of brown food colouring.

"Don't mock. When I served these biscuits at a buffet party, I was highly complimented." John Yeoman.

    Morning all.

Ended up having a banana for lunch and sausages, mash, mushrooms and sweetcorn for tea last night, sausages and sweetcorn from out the freezer. Bought a couple of things from shop yesterday but only a pack of party biscuits and a pack of buns that'd both been whoopsied so only paid a £1 for them both.

Ds is at beavers tonight so if the weather is ok I plan to take him to park before that, and get him something from chippie for tea.

Welsh Poppy - sorry to hear about your cat. Such a shame when a pet that's been with you so long, goes.

ammonite - congrats on having your lil one... boy or girl? Have you got others or is this your first?

RS - you made me laugh with your ginger biscuit house. Lately, whenever I've had a sweet tooth, I've asked ds if he wants to open an Easter egg. :D

Flo - We all know you're really actually having a big kebab and cheesy chips when you don't show us pics. :p
Actually I have never eaten a kebab in my life. Mr F has a kebab 4 times a year when he visits a client in London to work all day on VAT returns. I am always telling him how unhealthy they are.
I am having a frozen ready meal tonight - Mr F got it sometime - sweet and sour chicken. I will do some basmati rice and naan bread with it. It will be a quick easy meal - house in total upheaval - not one straight room here - to think I have next week plus 6 more weeks to go through of this. Must focus on the end result.

lol Flo - for some reason I didn't think a kebab would be high on your list for treats. Your place sounds a nightmare at the moment, especially with another 6 weeks to go  but it'll be worth it in the end, and you'll be able to put your feet up and relaxxxx.

ETA - just phoned the plumber and he's coming to do my bathroom Wednesday yayyyy. Hate it when I have to chase people up. But..an electric shower... Can't wait!!! Fingers crossed it all goes to plan.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Hmm they sound a little strange, may let you try the recipe first!

Even the normal M&S have a lot of cheap bras at the moment on the reduced rail, tried on one yesterday, they had loads for £1.99 and knickers for 59p! Didn't get anything in the end though :(

Be interesting to see the result of his next test.
Not sure I could face another After Eight after eating boxes of the 17p ones!

I have to fast from midnight so will have to try and get the test done early the next morning as I'll be starving.. Also having the glucose test by choice on top of the other tests they want to run.

Maybe the drs are improving but think they've given the statins out too easily in the past before trying to improve things.
