He was told that it probably was genetic though and to start taking statins immediately. At least two males on his Mother's side have had heart attacks (one fatal), but both were smokers. Sadly he no longer has any confidence in that Nurse!
We were told not to accept a single result before just taking statins "willy-nilly", but to have at least three confirmed results.
Just shows what can be achieved quickly and also what can happen by "letting yourself go".
Not totally out of the woods yet as still on the high side, just heading in the right direction. 5.5 and under is the target.

    Nice weather for a change.

I don't smoke, drink, not overweight and have a balanced diet but all my tests were high.

Evening all, well Good Friday so it had to be fish. Took out of freezer some salmon and smoked haddock, made this into a fish pie but did a breadcrumb topping instead of mash potato as suggested by The Hairy Bikers. Very nice, served with extra vegetables.
  • morning all.

well funny thing from yesterday. I was SO determined to start on finishing the box of opened cereal from the cupboard. I was prepared to have cereal for a week or two from that box.
So I opened the box, took out the inner packet to see how much was in there...and literally there was enough for three bowls. :rotfl: So it will be used up by tomorrow morning and my OCD self is now happy. More room on the shelf too. :D

Freezer movements: took out 2 pork chops and half a pack of sausagement, DM making hm stuffing tonight yum yum. Will have that with some peas and the fresh potatoes I got yesterday.

Half price gammon joint cooked yesterday (took about 4 hours!) and had some for dinner last night, was lush. <3 Will slice some more and have it with salad in wraps for lunch.

Lynsey, glad to hear your hubby's improving. :A

Morning all, nice bright day here. But temperatures to drop it appears!!

Took out beef joint for Sunday and Monday and left a nice gap.
Once bread has been used along with that tub of ice-cream, then looking better.
I will try harder next week and could do with a cheap week. Tot up later, but more than planned for the week.

Hot cross buns to finish and I was going to Lidl for some chocolate, but got enough Nestle stuff and might give it a miss.

Deleted_User - improving?? Don't know about that .................... but his weight has dropped along with his cholesterol level. :D

Would be interesting to see if a vegan diet made a difference though before drs say it's definitely genetic with people as most people still consume a fair amount of animal produce, usually daily. I'd like do do an experiment myself if only my drs would let me have 2 more tests! Lynsey - fascinating result in such a short time! Get him on more vegan meals ;) Want my bean burger recipe lol?! Quite shocking though when you think what can be caused by food and it didn't sound like he was particularly living that unhealthy a lifestyle before especially compared to some people.

Great win MNR! I've just had an easter egg win arrive :D

Not on much, not doing hardly any supermarket shopping so not much to report, not really saving money, still using the org delivery co's but only for the basics, am not buying any 'meals' as such but freezer is still a long way off being emptied... my baking cupboard however is improving as I'm slowly using things up week by week and mostly not replacing them at the moment if there's something else I can use first. Made bourbon biscuits yesterday, was quite impressed how they turned out!

Afternoon all. British Summer Time soon!!! Pfffttt.

Hope all are well. Been eating out of the freezer well. Almost made it round Asda yesterday when I was with the folks, without buying anything. But, at the last minute I spotted some RTC items in the freezer. Bought some bird's eye chicken mushroom things half price, and got a tiramisu cheesecake reduced from £2 to 50p. Now I would never buy it if it wasn't reduced, but have to say it was absolutely gorgeous!!

Had fish and chips last night at Mam's. Tonight I'm not sure what I'm going to have. Thinking cap on! Have about £15 to last til Wednesday, then I'll have about £30 to last til my big pay day on Friday, so manageable, but means I can't spend much this weekend. :(

Lynsey - good news on hubby's results, pleased the hard work has had an effect.

MMR - That's a fab prize you won! I don't like turkey leg though since I last cooked one in the SC, the veins were massive! _pale_
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Lol thanks for that lipstick I'm having roast turkey leg for dinner tomorrow lol gonna attempt to hack the rest and stuff in freezer.

Just visited Mr w, no meat today got 2 packs of blueberry muffins, a loaf of Hovis and a slice of mint and chocolate gateau which was yum, it was marked as reduced to 59p, but the guy at the deli marked it to 55p, £1.34 to pzay, gave the guy £1.40 and strangely he gave me 21p change so only 1.19 paid lol.

Muffins In The freezer will portion the bread for the freezer also.
