Hi all. Have been a bit busy lately so haven't had a chance to say hello. Hope all are well.
I've been behaving myself and not splurging in the shops, although have had other expenses like gas bill and my hair dryer frying on me. Did buy a few whoopsies last Thursday I think. Mainly ready meals tsk tsk. My freezer has a fair few pockets of space in it but don't feel tempted to buy anything much right now. It's ds' Easter parade on Thursday so need to buy stuff for his bonnet, and make it tonight!
Will make salmon and mushroom pasta bake for tea tonight. Looking forward to that. I've just had mushroom soup with a couple of black pepper Ryvita for lunch. Love those.
Blueybug, love the graphics on the FF. Great idea. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Can i join you? I have crashed and burned on the GC and already over budget, so with everything stocked up i need to try and gather some tips from you lot for the next two weeks. I have done an inventory of freezer. Got meal plan for next two weeks, though this was done before the inventory; but most importantly need to stay out of the shops!GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July ££110.46/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Been to Costco and bought 1.5kg of chicken breast fillets so need to portion those up to freeze today - got chicken chasseur for dinner, in slow cooker now, will have with rice.
Also going to Costco tomorrow to stock up on loo rolls, cat food and microwave rice whilst on offerso larder increasing not being used up so much.
Would have been an NSD today but had to pay 22p library fine :cool:0 -
Well I am certain one of the two branches of Tesco's down our way have lost a customer! Went in there today to use a £2.50 off £10 spend on Easter Eggs, got 3 and they were any 3 for £10.
So went to tills with those and a few other bits we needed, lady at till couldnt scan the coupon so sent me to customer service.
Woman at customer service was completely unhelpful, rude, beligerent, and talked down to me. She tried to tell me what I had bought like I was thick, then said I couldnt use it as part of a multibuy (doesnt say so on the coupon because I checked).
I know I am a fairly young woman (and I look younger than my 29 years) but anyone would have thought I was trying to scam the supermarket the way she was talking! And when I did get my £2.50 back she slung it across the counter at me!
Have phoned Tesco directly already to complain and they apologised and said they would look into it (bs) but I am still fuming. I never have such problems in the other branch of T's (that we use regularly)! Will be going to Asda more now I think!!
Anyhoo....not much bought today. Used 10% voucher in Pets@Home and got £1 off pet food, used a T's double points voucher plus (eventually) my £2.50 off voucher for Easter Eggs, then went to Asda and used a £1.05 price guarantee coupon and picked up a y/s loaf of Soreen which DM was pleased with, she said she hadnt seen Soreen in ages :rotfl:0 -
Afternoon all ! OH went to docs this morning and despite flu jab via work he has flu virus with secondary chest infection and has been put on amoxycillin. GP must be concerned cos antibiotics are like gold dust around here !
Abel & Cole order arrived this morning. OH grabbed it so I'm not sure whether the watercress was a freebie or whether I had a funny five mins and ordered it by mistake. We do eat it, but I hadn't ordered anything else we eat it with.
Freezer movements: out - wild Alaskan salmon fillets (Sainsbury's YS)
Hope everyone well xx0 -
Been doing really well at making our 'weekly' shopping last two weeks with maybe one top up shop inbetween. Planning to give ocado one last chance (after the last 'last chance' I gave them...) so am hoping to do a largish order from them over the next few days. Today we had porridge, sandwiches and for tea I am making a casserole with some thinly sliced wheaty vegan chorizos, some red and yellow peppers I got from Asda two weeks ago and they are still fine, odds and ends of celery out of the fridge, the last bits of several bags of frozen veg from the freezer including onions, a dash of olive oil, bit of marigold bouillon powder and some baharat (Middle Eastern spice blend). When its mostly cooked I am going to stick some instant mash on top (sorry but I am useless at proper mash and we have no potatoes in) and cook for a bit longer xx0

I'm still working my way through my chicken. I go to the cash and carry as well. My parents took me to Bookers and I got 3kg of chicken breasts for £19.99 it worked out to 21 breasts stashed in the freezer so i'm working my way through them. When i'm done and go back for more i'm also stocking up on ham, steak and fish. It really works out best for me as I have a stock pile of lentils and black beans, kidney beans etc so all I need is frozen veg.
Today was close to being a NSD.
I had porridge and coconut milk for breakfast, my office supply fruit so fruit and soya yoghurt for snack with chicken salad for lunch. Followed by steak and veg and a soya protein shake after my workout.
I spent 50p on a bag of carrot batons for today and tomorrow. I tend to graze at work and this sees me through.
I'm really loving this thread and finding it useful. It makes you stick to it, when you are accountable so thank you0 -
Coming out of freezer - 2 slices HM cake. Nothing going in!
For dinner we had cottage pie with carrot, leeks, asparagus, onions, swede and gravy.

Was very frugal this evening, instead of going out to get takeaway burgers, I took a burger and some chips out of the freezer. Cooked and made toasted bacon sandwiches for DM as she wanted them
Made for a very nice meal this evening.
Will be buying the Campbells packet rice again, had the second of two packs I got free with coupons this afternoon with some meatballs from the freezer. Very nice and good value for the price.
Took out more cheese from the freezer today as DM doesnt like the Tesco's own cheese I took out two days ago. Also rescued from the depths of the freezer a half loaf of hot cross bun bread, will have that for toast to use it up over the next few days.
Might have to pop out later in the week to get some more fizzy drinks as I am craving it at the moment, but otherwise dont need much.
Planning on making bread and cakes this week as well now I have yeast and cream to finish up both recipe needs!0
