Thank you Lynsey, i was posting on the thread and i have been doing it but hadn't posted in a while so thought i better post sometime again. I think there's about £80-90 in my pot now so okay, but your doing well.
Food today going to have scrambled eggs in a minute, lunch probably soup and dinner was going to have lasagne lidls fresh ones, the large ones were scaning at £1.49 at the weekend but i have gone off that idea now, think we will have chicken curry now and youngest dd will have fish.
Catch up later.0 -
morning all
had last of bacon in bottom of fridge for eleveneses (or nooneses lol) with remaining two white rolls out of freezer. will just snack later.
took couple of microwavable burger ready meal thingys out of freezer last night - will have one for dinner with remaining onion rings in pack and some salad.
DM's feeling a bit better today - she actually had a bacon sandwich with me! - so hopefully she will decide that she wants something decent for dinner0 -
Erk! Just back from dentist - tooth is salvageable and doesn't have to come out which is good. However, that's where the good news ends. It has been repaired for now and should last a good few months but long-term it needs some root canal work and then a cap putting on - estimated cost £600!! At least I've got some time to save up for that unexpected expenditure so I think much more batch cooking and reduced sticker shopping than usual is ahead of me!
Time to go peruse the Old Style board for lots of recipes and ways to stretch food out I guess!
Sticking to porridge and soup today to give the repair time to set properly and Mr S will have something simple out of the cupboard. My parents have the children on a Tuesday night so don't have to feed them today!
Wishing everyone a tasty and frugal day!Sealed Pot 5 number 15440 -
Evening all! I am a lurker to this thread but after spending 15 mins trying to fit stuff in my freezer I thought I really need to join in!
I am a bit of a shopaholic so this will be a big challenge for me but I intend to clear my freezer so I can give it a good clean so will be planning around what I have in there. My cupboards aren't too bad, I have plenty of tins/packets etc that I can use with our meals so plan to only buy in fresh fruit/veg/milk/bread/sandwich stuff/salad.....
Wish me luck.....
I look forward to joining in the challenge0 -
Ok so day 1
Out of freezer : bag of garlic mushrooms, 7 chicken drumsticks, box of popcorn chicken, chicken sandwich! Tub of homemade rice pudding
In : 8 chicken breasts, bag of broccoli, bag of green beans, bag of mixed peppers, bag of sliced onions, bag of waffles, bag of frozen mash, box of popcorn chicken, 8 cod fillets, box of loaded potato skins
Have sausages in fridge for tomorrows tea, will serve with potato skins (waffles for kids) and veg from freezer. Have lots of onions in fridge so will make up some onion gravy.
Will be writing out a meal plan tonight, will aim for 2 wks on planning....0 -
Thursday is the big monthly shop for me, not been on for a while as Ive been sick turned out I'm a Gluten hater:(
My guts have been hurting of late and after a food blog its happening after bread, cakes, pasta etc etc so I'm keeping off the stuff
I did buy an ice cream maker anyone got any tips for nice homemade ice cream?
One thing that this whole bulk buying/saving money game has taught me is, the whole idea of random dinners made from odds and sods in the cupboard/freezer is a real gem.
I love it!
I was given some extra cash this month for a "odd" job I did so I'm buying a few extras in the shop so instead of my 50 pounds a month shop I'm going crazy and spending 75! Woo Hoo0 -

Morning all. Freezer sorted, ashamed to say that I found a box of faggots dated Nov11, think these will have to go in bin on bin day. Taken out for today, a quiche dated Sept 12 and some salmon fillets dated Oct 12, think these should be ok. No plans for a supermarket shop this week, will use small local shops that way no temptation for adding more stuff to freezer.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

No freezer movements today.
We had roast chicken, roast potatoes/parsnip, cabbage, carrots, swede and gravy for dinner.
