I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Weird isn't it?? I could never go for home delivery. I like to look around and see what I'm buying. Always something reduced and nice finds.
Lynsey
Yeah guess for most people they prefer to shop in store, but for me it's more of a pain in the shops as they don't stock much of what I want, especially the two supermarkets where I live so either I travel further afield or generally there's a better choice of the sort of things I want online but it does cost me more overall rather than buying the odd thing as I need it.0 -
Had a jacket potato with a hm beanburger out the freezer and huge pile of watercress & lettuce.
Just made popcorn - had been in the cupboard so long I can't remember buying it but it popped perfectly! Topped with agave syrup which has worked really well. Made far too much... not sure why I don't make it more as it's cheap, quick and would be ideal for snacking on if out and about too.0 -

It will drop ............................ as soon as he starts with those statins.
He'll never be able to fully eat "only" the "right" foods, but will cut back the "bad" ones. He's had approx 1/3 tub of double cream with his tagliatelle meal ............................ it did look lovely though. He thinks being almost 1 stone overweight may be the issue. The nurse is convinced it's genetic. He has approx 7 lbs to lose and doing a "Healthy Hearts" programme and on the hamster wheel at home. So he will find out if added fitness and getting to his ideal weight helps.
But I will pass on the suggestion, thank you.
Pooped to Sainsbury's to put lottery on and not great "whoopsies" and surprised myself at paying £1.49 for a pack of pork and apple sausages!! I would never have paid that last year. lol I am short of decent sausages though and these are nice (TTD).
Also got a pepper for 19p and a decent size melon for 49p = £2.17 to add.
Days total = £6.27
Weeks total = £19.10
Year to date = £119.65
So 16 days of Feb and I've spent more than the whole of Jan. Jan was very frugal though and helped by having Xmas stuff.
My plan at the moment is to buy generally what I need to make meals from my stash and just pick up the odd bargain.
I did get my free 2 litre Cravendale, so that helps.
Unless Lidl have a great meat offer on, I'm trying for £90 budget for Feb.
Chicken stir fry is main meal tomorrow. Chicken breast (diced from Lidl) from last May ..................... so God knows how old some of the pork is??

OH has venison stew cooking smells gorgeous. I had organic salmon fillet from ASDA (2.28 or 2 for $4) for lunch but keeping it in fridge for 4 days hadn't done it any good, my fault. OH had scrumptious (love that word) smelling Higgidy steak and Stilton pie from freezer. Org carrots, broccoli.
zafiro1984 you made me sigh wistfully, love the smell of horse. I worked on a stud at Newmarket for three months in between school and college. Your stallion reached a good old age there. Hope your new horses are everything you want
Did you listen to the radio show on BBC Radio Five Live about Frankel ?
It should be on podcst, was called Star Studded.
Kirri I love popcorn but as it does my blood glucose no good I only ever get it at the cinema and we seem to visit less often now
Lynsey -my mother would happily visit Sainsbury's every day.. some weeks I think she does. I prefer home delivery but I do visit supermarkets. Last week Lidl and ASDA and this week I'm going to Waitrose with my mother Thursday. Don't actually need anything though. Even though I shop with her in different branches of Sainsbury's and Waitrose I get bored. The Sainsbury's are almost identical, I trundle round and forget which town I'm in.
It also seems such a waste of time when I can do it online or on my phone.
Well done on the frugality.0 -
^ yep hate the time it takes up so even if I need one or two things I wait until I need more to make it worth while and usually try and wait till I have to go out for something else rather than make a special trip to go shopping. Next week I will probably get in Waitrose as I'm passing it but only have 4 things on the list so far.
I wish Ocado would bring in a small shopper delivery - if I could get say £20 of shopping a week delivered I'd do that as I just don't need enough to be able to use it weekly yet still need veg weekly.. I always have a list too so I'm fairly exact in what I need and rarely come out a shop with anything unplanned.
Is popcorn full of carbs?? It was very good

No freezer visits today.
We had HM mince pie with roast potatoes, savoy cabbage, brocolli, carrots, garlic and gravy for dinner.

12 hour fasting before giving sample may be worth a try as the Nurse stated milk in drinks/cereals etc could make a difference. He is thinking of a "fruit day" and drinking water only a day before giving a blood sample (after reading up).
Interesting also that it may only take 3 weeks of a "good" diet to improve results.

Hi All,
Few spends today in poundland and Aldi. Not too bad though.
Went to visit FIL today so had food there mid afternoon. Kids had a couple of tins of spaghetti when they got home followed by yogurts and brioche. We have had a lovely pastrami pizza from Morries that has been frozen for ages! It was lovely! Loads of salad with it as we have plenty in. Very nice. Need more pizzas now though as only a couple left.
Tomorrow we have dug out a couple of pork loin steaks and three lamb chops to have with hm roasted veg and pots. mmmm.
NSD tomorrow apart from paper unless I venture to butcher friend..3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

I'm up near Vx next week, I had that on a list of places to visit purely from the cake side of things! I've had Vegusto too, thought i was really good, not seen VegGourmet yet. Very interested in the Burmese Tofu as I have half a pack of gram flour to be used up (was going to make another lot of pancakes with it). I tried a Coyo yoghurt the other month but maybe it's something to get used to, I wasn't keen on first try but useful tip on using it in baking - they are very expensive though per pot..
Not decided on food today yet - something based around the veg box though..
Vx has loads of stuff, some of the kosher parve items from America could be got more cheaply from Jewish supermarkets though I think. They tend to sell out of the cheeses quickly but these days keep getting new deliveries in so hopefully they'll have loads in when you go. The vegourmet, the montanero block is best as it also has tahini in so is more substantial than some of their other varieties that are akin to a vegan version of processed burger slices. Coyo is pricey but I find as its so thick a little goes a long way in cooking and baking, and the more popular it gets the more the price has gone down. A year or so ago the 250g tub was £4.99 now the 400g one is the same price, the amount I use in a 9x13 inch cake or a korma ends up costing no more than £2 and since the other ingredients involved are usually bargains it doesn't blow the budget. I love coconut so the fact it tastes of it is a bonus :T xx0 -
Ooh and almost forgot, tonight I made a meal pretty much entirely from the cupboards, vegan sausages made with granose mix, Sainsbury's basics mash made with water Kara, vitalite and black pepper, Sainsbury's basics apple sauce which is strangely more natural than the regular Sainsbury's version, and the last bit of the aunt Bessie's vegetable gravy I got with the general 50p off coupon that was around ages ago, total cost per person a mere 54p
