Hi All, I wish I could keep up! Well done Kirri for catching up better than me and posting to everyone!!

Our freezer quest continues and we are seeing a smidge of space. Had a quiche tonight so not much out. yesterday was pies, chips and peas /sweetcorn all from freezer. Tomorrow - not much as out for lunch.

Sorry - not posting much tonight as way to tired but need a benchmark to come back to!!

    Love to all xx

That's an excellent thought:T; I might do the same. I bought some Quark last week, which I'd never tried before (still haven't used it but have lots of ideas in mind), but I can't resist foodstuffs named after sub-atomic particles:).

    :j

Quark, Strangeness and Charm springs to mind seeing that ^ !

I've never tried the food Quark, can't say I've even noticed it in the supermarket. I've tried a few new foods in the past year for the first time but I don't actively try new foods much, thinking about it.

Checked Ocado, Waitrose and Sainsbury's for the plantain but none stock it.. (apart from some crisps).

    Evening all.

Spent a fair bit than I thought I would today. Forked out £10 on stuff I really didn't need in Tesco another £15 in Asda but those were on essentials like loo roll and milk (that I should have got from Tesco). I bought a really nice beetroot topped pork pie in Mr T's. The topping was lovely and sweet and went really well with the pie........ooops... er........ just realised I've admitted that I've not done so well on veggie week. :o Did have a veggie tea though!

Had a busy day as had to go to ds parents evening. He's doing well, but why do blokes whitter on about carp... might tell the ex not to bother going next time lol.

Lynsey - the price of the gym classes is probably about average I guess. Mam's agreed to pay half though now. :T

Thanks for your reply, so it's usually the packaging that smells off, just want to be sure as the smell puts me off using it, as its a strong off smell.

Yeah it's perfectly normal for it to whiff a bit. If you leave it to air in room temperature after opening the package, the smell will go.

Still feeling a bit under the weather. Ate better through the day than yesterday. Dinner was as on my menu plan - mexican rice and sausages. This was a packet of rice that Mil had bought - so OOD but now out of cupboard. It was so salty to our taste buds - not something I would buy - but hate waste so decided to use it.
Dinner tomorrow - steak - FF with potatoes and veggies.

Coming out of freezer - 2 HM muffins and some pie - going in pack of YS puff pastry.

Should think it's quite normal for decomposing animals to smell when wrapped in plastic... ;)

Now back to Veggie Week :D

Meant to say, as you like going to the cinema with your DS, are you a member of See Film First? Not sure how much if any they have for kids though but there's quite a few free films and shows on offer.

Florenceem - I find that with any processed food that it tastes so salty though I guess if someone eats it all the time they just wouldn't notice. I even find shop bread salty on the rare occasion I have to eat it.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning all.

NSD yesterday and could be one today? Picking up Nestle Shop order tomorrow, but sharing some stuff with foodbank. Some great offers on at the minute, but staying firm'ish.

Kirri - yes, still a lot of "stash". Last year it was my "comfort zone", but honestly a bit of a burden this year as I want an empty freezer to start again. Weird??
    Frustratingly slow!!

Florenceem - hope you are feeling better.

JackieO - nice to see you posting.

Lip_Stick - see, you have a lovely Mam, despite al the "stick" she gets. lol

4 more "veggie" days to go and I'll get there!!
Omelette for myself and curry for hubby (quorn pieces look horrible).
Beans on toast for hubby and toasted hot cross bun yet again. Probably tinned pears also.
I have one last cupcakes/coffee Groupon to use and that could be today or Saturday (ends 10th feb).

I can't see the need to have more than a few week's worth of bargains in stock unless there is a plan to stay out of the shops for a long while. I hate shopping and even I ended up in the supermarket 7 times in January. The longer we go without shopping the longer the money stays in the purse. Also if a change in eating habits happens for any reason then certain foods might not even be wanted in future.
    bread

I absolutely agree with Kirri about a change in eating habits and certain foods not being wanted in the future. That is exactly what has happened in this household.
I have been diagnosed with high cholesterol and high blood pressure both of which probably can be controlled with diet. So whereas I used to prepare meals which we both could share I now have to do separate meals in order to use up all the things I should not be eating on a regular basis like red meat, gammon, and loads of store cupboard items. I have to say this is a pain as I must have at least 10 months worth of meat in the freezers not to mention all the tins and packets I have in the pantry. I'm ending up making decent and varied meals for my DH but making more of a snack meal for myself or batch cooking and eating the same thing in as many different ways as I can like on toast, with vegs, as a soup, it does get boring.

I had a very sad decision to make yesterday and spent most of it in tears so I haven't had time to catch up. Needless to say yesterday the diet went totally out of the window, steak, bacon, chocolate and drink were on the menu, so I feel really down today.

    Will post later about food,
  • Hope you feel better zafiro.

Morning all, I've had 2 crumpets with cheese and a mint tea, corn chowder and green beans for lunch, need to get flour for cakes etc, gonna head off for my walk soon, looks like rain is looming, but i have an umbrella :)

    (((zafiro1984)))) and morning all..

Well apart from the black pudding lapse Sunday I tried with veggie but OH has been a pain, and I'm sick of frittata and omelettes. Just can't eat things like lentils and potatoes and eating more root veg not good either.

Did my second Shorters Club order yesterday - not from concentrate OJ, pittas, Heinz organic biscotti and Kettle Chips - all for OH plus Evian (21% off) and anti-bacterial handwash.

Really sunny here but chill in the air.

Freezer has taken a few raids from OH who has had all five organic ready meals.

Morning all. Veggie week seems to be going well.

Are we going to be doing a reduced spending week soon? Would prefer that tbh lol. I feel as if that's doable.

Not sure about meals today. Ds is with his dad for tea so it's just me. Yesterday I bought some course corn meal, just because it was half price so 34p a packet. No idea what to do with it lol. Suggestions welcome!

Kirri - if meat wasn't meant to be eaten, it wouldn't taste so good. :p

Lynsey - Mum is obviously on a guilt trip! :D Actually she does splash out when she's on a guilt trip. I'll have to arrange to meet her in town one day for a wander around the shops.

Zafiro - Hope you're ok. Sounds like you're having a tough time of it. x
