    Hi all,
I'm up for a challenge next month, the vegie one sounds good

Just had a delivery from Mr A £29.91 not bad, needed things to try and reduce my BP, got some Alpro almond milk, never had it before so should be interesting

    Breakfast fruit as usual
Lunch large plain salad plus pistachios
Tea, peppers stuffed with toms, mushrooms and a sauce, plus 30gm 85% dark choc

Be interesting to see if the weight starts to go down as well.

Total spend this month £71.86, should be able to stay within my original set budget of £120

Wow, everyone is doing so well and is really committed! Today I bought 6 eggs, a 4pt of milk for the little one and 4 muler lemon fat free greek yogs. Total cost: £3.83. Had to go to the corner shop as get me in Asda and I buy tons! X
    2022 Comp total (prizes + free spins): £494.81 #20 £12 a day Jan: £382.95/£372 #57 360 1p challenge: £17.70 £10 a day Feb: £571.09/£280 March: £311.96/£310
  • I'd be up for the weekly challenge too. I could help with some very nice veggie recipes too. We do eat fish and sometimes have meat replacement items. Usually convenience.

One difficulty I have is my son needs to put on weight which is difficult on a milk free diet, but DH needs to lose weight!

Rice milk is fine for adults, but has too high an arsenic content for children. Might only not be ok for under 5's I can't remember!
  • My phone is the Galaxy Note. So found the budget on Google Play. It's just Simple Home Budget and I have removed all categories except food.

There is no flexibility on any other category and nothing left for luxuries so I only need to track food.

I'd like to be organised and have multiple spreadsheets but I don't update them. I applaud you Kirri.

^ I had to start to work out where my salary was disappearing to whilst trying to pay the bills!

Anyone got any Tesco value burgers lurking in their freezers? Affects both Ireland and UK..

Had the tofu stir fry, though mainly carrot and courgette as only had 1 mushroom left... should have defrosted some sliced beans. Got enough tofu for another two portions the next two nights.

just trying fussy eaters must be a pain for you but you're doing the right thing. My mother was a right food sadist at times. Trying to force kids to eat stuff doesn't work.. my bro won't eat fish and neither of us would ever touch liver or cod's roe again. When they're older and they lurve tomatoes or whatever you'll have the last laugh telling them how much they hated them as kids :D

canspendnomore that's a really difficult problem as what would be better for son would be worse for daughter. :( I like the idea of the veggies on the thread being our coachs :T excellent idea canspendnomore. It's a long time since I ate totally veggie so I'm going to need to have time to pick out some low carb veggie recipes.

My NY resolution was to buy more food from non-supermarket sources. Used the last bit of my refund to kick start the resolution off and order some Swedish organic ground coffee today from Totally Swedish.. The coffee itself is from South America and no way am I admitting how much it cost on this thread.:o Lynsey would say she could feed 16 people for a weekend and banish me and I like it here :D OH didn't even blink however.

I only spent a bit today as needed milk - went into Tesco and came out with 2 x 4 pints of milk. Didn't take a basket or carrier bags an went straight home. Then on wayto pick car up DS1 and I walked and popped into a different Nisa I have never been in and bagged a Christmas pudding with cider and rum in dated 2015 for £1 (need one for next Christmas so this is perfect!) and two packs of munch bunch doubles yogurts for 50p each which my kids go through like water... Very low spend and stocked up on what we need. Might need an aldi fruit and veg trip at some point later in the week butnot much. Will need red pointed peppers! The kids are wolfing them atm!

Apart from "Rebecca" the snowman in the front garden, we have no snow much to little one's dismay..might be more at the weekend so they say. We want to get the sledges out!

    Welcome Jak!!!
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

  • Erm arsenic? Cheers for that, put me right off!

I took a swig and decided it was actually alright, I'm hoping you have made a mistake and don't mean arsenic, I looked on the side and it says it is o.k for kids, but not infants. Off to research rice milk.

It's not that long ago that you could buy horse meat for human consumption; it's a bit before my time, but a friend of mine just a few years older remembers when there was a horse-meat shop:eek: at the corner of our road.
