  • Morning all.

My thighs are still killing, just had 2 crossaints and realised I have a lot of breakfast stuff in, q pack of crumpets, a pack of pancakes and a tub of flavored Greek yogurt an a single crossaint all in freezer, In cupboards there is a 10 pack of porridge and a pack of homemade granola I got as a crimbo pressie, in fridge the is the rice milk.

Going for a walk in a bit, then off to do some jobs, unsure of lunch, but I have taken out the boneless piri piri chicken thighs for dinner, rice or potatoes and veg of course.

Hope everybody is o.k, this thread is moving very fast, love the banter receipe ideas, support and the general chat, so nice to see :)

Afternoon all, just a quick post as i am suppose to be tidying as oh brother is coming. Not really that cold here but raining (pouring). The oh is saying there is suppose to be snow tomorrow the kids are saying Monday so we will wait and see who's right.

Well done Lynsey, that tablets were a great price.

Right food today, i never bothered with breakfast, kids had cereal, lunch i think i will have a quick roll or maybe a cup a soup and dinner is sausage and steak pie with chips and veg simple.

Right off now catch up later.
  • Decided to take out of the freezer nandos quarter chicken for lunch, but have changed my mind, I'm going to have a cup soup as I have 4 packs and the last 2 slices of bread from the freezer, its a breast piece, i hate breast as It's so dry, so will mix with mayo and sweetcorn and use as a filler over the weekend.

Guys don't forget to grab your free 4 pack of cushelle, Facebook promotion, they send you the coupon in the post, can't post the link from my phone, but It's on coupon thread, that's a whole month of bog roll for me, I'm down to my last 16 :)

Well done Lynsey, that tablets were a great price.

I need to keep him going for a while ......................... he brings my coffee to bed every morning ..................... can't miss that. :rotfl:

Who was asking about Lidl half-price meat offers and when they'll be back on??
Well, not next weekend - no meat offers yet again!!
I'll post them in a minute.

    Bought 2 x bags of red onions @ 39p per pack and a swede for 75p - £1.53 spent.
Need potatoes and veg up to date for basic things.

Hot beef and gravy sandwich was nice and trying hard to get rid of some biscuits.

2013 food spends now £14.23 and well on track for the £60 month target.

Great banter, I agree and love the JSA stuff. lol

  • Hi All, I am in a mega bad mood today - don't really know why - could be the menopause, could be the fact that I have no money thanks to elder daughter "borrowing" £200 from me over the last week so she can go out with her friends and get her hair highlighted etc. She's out now getting a tan done and has just rung me to say for me to put chicken fillets in the oven for her dinner and it has enraged me!!

Anyway - for those who asked, here is the lamb curry recipe. There are alot of ingredients but you can leave some out if you don't have them I'm sure.

spice mix: 1tsp ground corriander, 1tsp ground ginger, 1tsp ground cumin, 3 tbs medium curry powder, - you can add more if you like it spicer I guess.

    1kg lean lamb, diced
    2 onions chopped
    2 carrots, chopped
    2 sticks celery, chopped
    2 eating apples, chopped
    1 tin tomatoes
    good squeeze of tomato puree
    1 cup orange lentils
    about 600ml water
3 stock cubes - not oxos they taste too strong
    4 tbs mango chutney
    salt and pepper
juice of a lemon (or a bit of bottled "jif" type lemon)
    2 tsps cider vinegar
    2 tsps sugar

I dry fried the lamb in batches and put it in the slow cooker, then fried the vegetables in the lamb juices, added the spices and fried for a bit longer, then added the water, stock cubes, tomatoes, lentils, mango chutney, tomato puree, cider vinegar, sugar salt and pepper and put it all in the slow cooker with the lamb. I cooked it for about 3 - 4 hours on high and then for the last 10 minutes I mixed a bit of cornflour with a bit of water and stirred into the sauce to thicken it. You wouldn't need to do that if you were doing in a regular oven though because stuff doesn't thicken up in the slow cooker like in a casserole in the oven.

This makes enough for about 10 portions. possibly more. It works out at 7 pro points value per serving - I put it through the recipe builder on the WW site.

THe naan bread is just 2tsp yeast, 450g flour, 2 tsp sugar, half tsp salt, 1 tsp baking powder, 2 tsps veg oil, 150ml natural yoghurt, 150ml warm water and a beaten egg. You just mix it all together to make a dough and knead it until smooth and then put it in a large bowl, covered with a damp tea towel until well risen. When risen, take small pieces of the dough ( I got 16 out of this mix) and roll them with a rolling pin on a floured board into an oval shape - they should be fairly thin. Then get a frying pan hot on the hob - DONT add any fat and put the rolled out naans into the pan and cook for about a minute each side. They puff right up and brown so you will know when they are done. If you want you can add onion seeds, poppy seeds, corriander seeds or any other flavourings to the dough. Just put them through the WW recipe builder and plain like this they are 3 pro-points each.

Had a fried egg sandwich for breakfast (it was yuck - why do I forget that I don't like fried egg sandwiches?) and have just had some sunbites with half a merringue shell for lunch - I am in a real picky mood - I hate that!! (haven't even tried to do WW points tracking today!)

Dinner tonight is chicken thighs which I defrosted for tea last night but didn't cook owing to me being on the way home from taking younger daughter to street dance and finding myself in the chippie asking for fish and chips!!:o It wasn't my usual chippie and I was astounded that it cost £6.80!!!!!! I did get a large chips so it would do us all but still...... Also it wasn't nearly as nice as my usual chippe either and I ended up not eating barely any of it (kids liked it though!).

Well I had better get on with work - I have this big piece of work to submit on Monday and I am only about a third of the way through it and I just can't motivate myself.

Kitty-ears - huge congratulations on getting a first - sorry about the mess up and hope it is all sorted out soon for you.

    Hi All,
It's turned very cold here I had to put a coat on to put chucks to bed.
I got quite upset this am when Small Dog went missing but fortunately he turned up a couple of hours later the colour of sand and bleeding from his muzzle and cheek. He's been down a hole and had a fight with something, prob a fox. I cleaned him up & DH had a look, said that he's been bitten right through his cheek. Small Dog now has a very swollen face and feeling sorry for himself.

    Breakfast fruit as usual,
    lunch soup
Tea, chciken wrapped in bacon, veg, Hm ice-cream, all out of freezer
  • Just came across this thread - can I join in the challenge too? There's not much in the freezer compartment apart from bread, but I've got a cupboard full of weird and wonderful goodies collected over the months and years, and I need some incentive to get make use of them :)
