donnajt - that made me lol, hiding the approved food order. :D

Lip_Stick - I hid them well...until I unpacked them, I had two huge Approved Food Boxes which had 6 more cardboard boxes inside!!! DS was playing with the boxes (who needs xmas presents!) my goodies were all over kitchen and hubby returned home unexpectedly...he was like "where has all this food come from" lol!!!
  • Hi Everyone! Good luck with joining the challenge sjprmc01! I like coming on here but I'm not the best example as I keep falling off the wagon and buying stuff!!

kirri - thanks for the link to farnell farm - I had a really enjoyable time looking round the site and will definitely order some blubell, broom and foxglove seeds as I love them!

donnajt - I like Approved foods but have found that sometimes some of the stuff like biscuits taste a bit stale IYKWIM. That said I love it when they have the wraps on offer, or the tins and jars - I have to be careful or I order stuff that I don't need!!

lip_stick - OMG I didn't know you could stil get Fray Bentos pies - My Mum always made them (she was a terrible cook!!) and I used to love the way the pastry was all squidgy where it met the filling.

ms-night-ryder - hope your back feels better soon. I had a dodgy back over Christmas and I have to say the heat pads didn't do much, but the Naproxen tablets helped.

I have a shed-load of work to do today as I have a big report to submit by 14th, but I keep procrastinating!!

Breakfast was All Bran with banana and dried apricots, lunch is hm turkey soup (from freezer) and dinner will be lamb and lentil curry with hm naan bread. I've never made naan bread before but will give it a go and see what it is like!!

I went to Tesco yesterday and bought some bits and pieces, and ended up spending about £40:eek: I was quite pleased though because I had a £4 off £40 till spit voucher from Sainsburys which they accept again now, so that was good! I also got a big tin of fox's biscuits for £1.

Hope you are all having a good day - it's pouring down here and not warm either!!

Need to go out again to the dreaded dole office, will pick up sugar when I'm in town.

I feel your pain!! ^ I've just got back from the dreaded work programme, what a waste of my morning that was, just a presentation. Though they did pay my trainfare to a town that has a Waitrose so I could do my shopping at the same time, so not all bad :D

Spent £12.78 today, 2nd spend of 2013, apart from butter the rest was fruit and veg. Got my free newspaper too with my Waitrose card. Still got plenty of food to make meals from without needing to buy this month. Stir fry tonight with cashews and some vegan chicken.. (it's actually quite good).

kirri - thanks for the link to farnell farm - I had a really enjoyable time looking round the site and will definitely order some blubell, broom and foxglove seeds as I love them!

It is good isn't it plus I prefer supporting the smaller suppliers, they despatch straight away too. You reminded me I bought the bluebell seeds a while back - I must sort them out and work out when to sow them!

Donnajt - looks like you are running a restaurant :rotfl: that amount of noodles would give me nightmares!

Afternoon all, it's raining again so washing is out in the tumble dryer.

ms_night_ryder, you could try naproxen as well as has been suggested it might help/suit you. I've tried it before long term prescription don't think it's that good, but you can take paracetomol with it.

Donnajt-omg what an ammount of noodles, you'll need to have noodles every night for your dinner and have chicken noodle soup for your lunch, only teasing !!.

Food plan today brekie was toast, lunch going to make soup in a second and dinner is going to be stew, tatties, dumplings and veg. Just going to make the stew now.

Kirri, i feel sorry for you having to go on that work programme an absolute waste of time.

Catch up later. Off to make the stew.

    Hi all,

Went to Morries this morning as was looking for cheap Christmas wrapping paper but they had none. OH came with me and we ended up spending £18.09. :O. But did get 12 cans heinz tomato soup at £1.67 per four pack. We get through loads of that so I always stock up when I see a good offer. Also got some weight watchers naan breads as they were half price and we have none left. Got some fresh veg and salad. No coupons today.

Going to have a salad with the stuffed chicken breast later and maybe a savoury rice. The kids will have similar.

Might dig out a HM sausage casserole from freezer for tomorrow and see how we go. Then cook more from frozen stuff on Thursday. HM freezer meals really low now but plenty of raw ingredients!

Kids are back at school / preschool and all is quiet but loads to do tidy / sort / find new homes for!!!
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Hi everyone, well you're all inspiring me so much I managed a quick run round Asda and bought only what I needed - milk, bread and apples. Absolutely unheard off!! DS2 is back to school today so it's ham sandwiches, fruit and yoghurt for him and I've brought in yet another wee pot of hm lentil soup. I've worked out I've saved approx £4.50 by bringing my lunch to work and Dad gave me a jar of coffee so making my own drinks instead of buying the over-priced canteen brew.

Don't know if I will ever keep up with this thread as it moves so fast but love reading all the hints, tips, chat and what everyone is having to eat. Can't remember who mentioned gammon and pineapple salsa but thankyou that's dinner sorted tomorrow night. Tonight is chicken breasts wrapped in bacon with a cream sauce, roast potatoes and brocolli, everything from the freezer (well apart from the sauce).

Hi Welsh Poppy, they are dried and have to say very nice - made myself some and gave them a quick toss in the work with a bit of soy, garlic, peanut and lemon...I am just still shocked at the size of them

Well done on your weight loss - what diet are you following?

Went to Home Bargains and bought sugar, and about time! Also bought wraps, some shot mugs or something and eggs. Spent £4.50 there abouts. Need to go to Asda again today to get ds some school sand shoes. Will buy garlic and lemon whilst in there.

Donnajt - that's a big stash of noodles you have there now! I bought a 2kg pack of pasta yonks ago, which I'm still working my way through. Got about half left. This time next year I might just be finishing it. Am having the dreaded pie tonight.
lip_stick - OMG I didn't know you could stil get Fray Bentos pies - My Mum always made them (she was a terrible cook!!) and I used to love the way the pastry was all squidgy where it met the filling.

Don't be building my expectations up! I'm not expecting to find any filling! :rotfl:

Lol. Was speaking to the woman about a payment I'd had a week early. I was joking saying I thought it was a Christmas bonus. She replied 'We're not that I nice', and I said 'I know!'. It was one of those things you instantly regret saying lol. Not going to be on the good side of her.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
