Hi all,
had to go to shops for newspaper for hubby tonight and scoured for any decent bargains. Still hunting down the Decaf Yorkshire tea that is £1 atm - only managed to get two boxes so far. Spent £3.14 after a coupon that pretty much halved my bill. Got bread for 15p, half price cheerios for DS brekky, 3 pks innocent smoothies that DS1 loves reduced to 55p each, a bag of granny smiths reduced to 95p (more thank I would normally pay but DS2 loves them and it is school tomorrow), oh yeah and a pack of frubes for packed lunches - half price naturally! Done really well with coupons so far but running out now. Plus not needing to shop either. Might need a bit of veg at some point but planning to use what we have as much as poss first - probably check what aldi super six are.
dinner tonight is HM spag bol - we are all having the same and the boys loved theirs. We have a pack of ciabatta toasties from freezer with ours. There may be a portion to freeze.
Oh has just dug out two stuffed chicken breasts for tomorrow that will go round all five of us as they are HUGE. Not sure what to do with them yet but will involve veg somewhere!
I hope everyone is okand welcome newbies!
EDIT - ooooh child-free day tommorrow! If only I didn't have so much already to do (garage / library / selling stuff). Roll on Wed afternoon post my voluntary job for a couple of hours to myself3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

ms_night_ryder, only a suggestion but i find them to be pretty good and i have tried various tablets from ibuprofen to long term prescription ones and quite a few times taken to many as it's that sore, anyway if you can get them at the chemist, i got them from home bargains Anadin joint pain ibuprofens are really good, would recommend them. Think they are only about £1.70 but worth every penny. They are for joint pain, muscular pain, backache and neuralgia. Hope you get some relief soon.0

Evening all. Went to soft play for lunch and ended up sharing a main meal with ds. Nearly £8 for what was a crappy cheap burger, smart price coleslaw (recognise it from mam's lol), chips and drinks. Just had a tin of soup for tea to share as we'd been munching on biscuits while watching a film after we got back so wasn't that hungry.
Tomorrow I do need to buy things: Sugar, fruit and veg. Spent about £3 this year so far.
Tomorrow's meals will probably be soup again for dinner, and a... Fray Bentos Pie! Yeah yeah, it was one of those things I bought for an emergency. And since there's not going to be an apocalypse anytime soon, I'm going to use it up as I'm sick of the sight of it. Going to serve it with mash and veg.
Really need to meal plan so I can see what I've got to use up.Lip_Stick - hope that back eases. Take care. Lynsey
My back's fine ty. I hope ms_night_ryder's feels better soon tho. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Been stuck in my kitchen ALL day, just finished wiring up all the electrical items inc my pc from a tangled mass of cables - was having a new floor fitted in the rest of the flat after my neighbours flooded me. Still waiting for my new ceilings and electrics... Flat in a total mess, been up since crack of dawn and can't go to bed till I've moved all the stuff back.Ooh.. thanks Kirri, they have cobnuts too and though quite a way from me, are within driving distance of my mother
My FIL and my father were great ones for chucking Roundup over stuff too but I've never seen it actually work except on seedlings
I've had 2 boxes of cobnuts from them, 1 golden and 1 brown (or whatever they are called!), I forgot to get the green! Pesticide free, fab quality and absolutely gorgeous, I made a choc and cobnut cake with them and cobnut, choc and condensed milk biscuits, got another box waiting to be used, maybe on something more healthy!
Idiot 'gardeners' at my flats killed my flowers with roundup - I had a huge go at them, bloody idiots let alone they were spraying it all round my open window :mad:I want to try to whittle that down too as I have a unit at the back of my kitchen that I could get rid of if there was cupboard space for things like dishes and pots and pans
That's sort of what I did - I had so much dried stuff in the cupboards I couldn't get the pans in - kitchen is looking SO much tidier now I have more stuff in the cupboards. Still got lots of food to use up though but made huge progress in 2012.

Impressive spend, lower than me, I must try harder!
FB pies remind me of one particularly stingey ex lol. I can't see one without thinking of him..0 -

On a good note, bumped into my neighbor while walking home from getting the heat pads, he owns the local fancy butchers, he was carrying a venison and red wine pie, he gave me it bless him, its a shame I didn't see him 1st as I took out 2 gammon steaks with pineapple salsa out for dinner, will have the pie tomorrow.
Not much spent today, just heat pads and mini muffins that were half price to cheer myself up.
Hi ms_night_ryder - hope your back pain has eased over night
what a lovely neighbour!
thx for the gammon with salsa idea0 -
I am also guilty of having full cupboards (tins, packets) but not actually eating what is in there! I want to try to whittle that down too as I have a unit at the back of my kitchen that I could get rid of if there was cupboard space for things like dishes and pots and pans

Morning all, up early as dropping Brother off at bus station and then on to Ikea for that free breakfast and a look in Debenhams.
sjprmc01 - welcome and good luck. I think we're all guilty of stocking up and not using stuff and I've got a few things that need using up, especially in the baking cupboard. My back's fine ty. I hope ms_night_ryder's feels better soon tho.
Low spends, well done and I thought I'd done well!!
I also need sugar.
ms_night_ryder - sorry and hope YOUR back eases. I use naproxen for pains if you can get any.
Well done with the pie, sounds nice.
donnajt - good luck with the noodles!! Are they short date??
I must be missing something, but I don't get Approved Foods and prefer bits from Home Bargains and B&M's etc, I'm lucky tough in that I have a massive choice of shops to choose from.
Kirri - Nestle Shop have decent clearance offers (staff stock etc) and loads of coffee that's cheap, including Gold Blend - staying away until February as coffee top-heavy and still plenty of Xmas stuff to get rid of.
I'll get some stuff in February for foodbank also.
2 x NSD's and only 1 more needed for this week - might make it 4 NSD's with a little luck.
Quick coffee and out soon, catch up later.

My mum is still trying to use up the influx of cheap coffee I got when I was buying from there, over a year since, I stocked them up nicely on 300g jars lol. Cheapest was always £2.40/300g then for the regular stuff but it used to be out of stock for ages and always went very quickly when in stock.0 -

Lynsey - I didn't get the whole Approved Foods thing until I ordered from them (and I have only made two orders) but they have saved me a fortune...I will take picture of my delivery, yes they are nearing or over their sellby date but i ignore those most of the time anyway lol!

Morning all. Ds' first day back at school, and boy, was he moody this morning after getting dragged from MY bed. I wasn't allowed to put music on, as it made him tired. Was almost crying lol.... or maybe that was because of my singing.
I've been doing a really weird thing the last few months, every so often, where I sit up in bed asleep. No idea why I'm doing it lol. Very strange. I've freaked ds out a couple of times doing it after he's sneaked in my bed, last night I remember him saying 'Mam what are you doing?!' lol
Went to Asda and did some shopping.... forgot the blinking sugar! arggh. Spent £13.50 on 4 tins of soup, 4 Apetina snack things, 2 packs of philly, cheese, curly kale, mushrooms, orange juice, 4 pots of aero, rocket and watercress leaves and bananas.
Need to go out again to the dreaded dole office, will pick up sugar when I'm in town.
donnajt - that made me lol, hiding the approved food order. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0
