Evening all, nice day here was frosty in the morning. Was at asda earlier as had to get mini tortillas, lettuce, fruit and couscous as back to making pack lunches tomorrow night have everything else.
Food today was brekkie cereal, lunch was toasties and for dinner went to a friends house and had a Chinese, so no cooking but I did wash up the few dishes there was. Apart from that a quite day. I've got the pork joint out the freezer for Sunday lunch .
Catch up tomorrow.0 -
I'm impressed with all these inventories, lots of you dashing out for bargains, working and most of you seem to have children at home. Wow that's women power. I just wonder where I am going wrong, children have flown the nest, I do shopping online, just the two of us. If you think I'm very house proud and spend all my time gardening and cleaning, -sorry, - two dogs, and a variety of 'outdoor' animals take care of that. Where am I going wrong?:undecided0

Morning all. Feel absolutely shattered. I've only just got up, talk about lazy!
Ended up having chicken and noodle soup for dinner, and the extra special paella for my tea. It didn't seem 'that' extra special. Not sure what I'm having for dinner, but tea will be HM lamb and feta meatballs with pasta. Ds will be disappointed as he loves my meatballs lol.
Need to pick up some soups Tuesday, noticed asda had heinz in for 50p, but don't plan on doing much shopping. Need to have money in the bank for the Sun Holiday.
zafiro1984 - what types of outdoor animals do you have? I imagine those, and two dogs keep you busy enough. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
I thought i had multi=quoted but it didn't work
Lynsey - thanks for tip re meatballs at Lidl and using the Tesco burgers - never thought of that
Lipstick - (i think) - your meatballs with feta sound yummy - could you share the recipe please
also welcome to the newbie - your freezer sounds amazing!
this week i am going to do an inventory AGAIN of the kitchen cupboard, fridge/freezer contents as i never kept the last one up to date (stupidly)
today is slow roasted shoulder lamb with all the trimmings of a roast dinner really looking forward to it as i had flu over xmas and couldn't eat my xmas dinner boo hoo!
OH YES...Lynsey just remembered - I had to get out of bed in the early hours and sleep downstairs on sofa cos hubby was moaning that my coughing was keeping him awake!! Then he had the cheek to wake me up to ask me where my throat lozengers were....aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhh0 -

Welsh Poppy, Thanks about the hens - did a head count today as they came out of their houses. Fortunately I and stll have my full compliment of 350
Lipstick:- We have 7 horses, five of which are stallions, my husband looks after those, but we also employ help - so I don't do anythng at all with the horses, chickens, as above, but again I have help with them. and three alpacas. The dogs don't need taking for a walk as they are out and about on the place most of the day. So I still can't work out where I'm going wrong, maybe it's the weather!!!
Breakfast - fruit as usual
Lunch - maybe cheese and biscuits, christmas items before they go out of date
Tea - pheasant, didn't cost anything and I have enough bits and bobs to go with it, will casserole it as it's quite a large male and the spurs are quite hard so it's not a 'this years' bird. (I originally put the correct name in for a male pheasant - same as a male hen - and the forum wouldn't accept it, I can understand why, but, what is this world coming to?)0 -
Incredibly stupid birds, pheasants - I once caught one with my bare hands as it wandered round the kitchen garden
Now that I live in a town, I have to buy them from Abel & Cole, 3.55 each but they aren't as tough
If you live in the country, you get free food, not just people offering pheasants and brown trout but things like sorrel, chestnuts and blackberries. When we first lived here in a town, there was a patch of undeveloped land nearby and an elder growing which I could reach from the pavement. My townie neighbour walked past and asked what I was doing when I was collecting elderberries0 -

Still being good
Had usual bagel at the coffee shop in town for breakfast before grocery shopping. We bought 9 bags of lidl muesli so that's OH brekkies sorted for a couple of months (we actually bought 12 but my MIL had three) and the usual fruit and veg but I was very careful and we only spent £7 instead of the usual 15 or so. We had a sandwich at MIL as OH was doing some chores for her and then last night I was very tempted to go for KFC but got sausages out the freezer and made meatballs with the rest of a jar of lidl tomato pasta sauce from the fridge livened up with some econa hot chilli sauce and steamed butternut (I'm trying to cut down on carb consumption as well)
We had toasted drunken panatone this morning - £3 from sainsbugs after christmas and I've taken a small leg of lamb out of the freezer for dinner.
I have to go to the shops for stuff for school so will go around 3pm and hope to find some bargains.
Zafiro - I really wish we could have some hens but not enough space unfortunately.I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

Afternoon all, just about to have Sunday lunch so just a quick post.
The food today is brekkie toast and yoghurts, lunch is pork with all the trimings and will probably have a sandwitch or toastie later just depends how hungry we are.
Will make pack lunches for tomorrow later this evening and make sure the kids have everything they need for school. I know i have to find my dd a pair of shorts today or tomorrow (the right ones) as she has had 2 pairs disappear at the academy in recent months and i've no chance of seeing them again joy !!.
Catch up later and have a nice relaxing Sunday everyone.0
