  • Afternoon, I was going to skip brekkie, my belly said no, so smoothie has be consumed, lunch will be a cinnamon bagel and a cup soup, I realised there is only 4 small pieces of pork, so defrosting a handful of prawns too, then will chuck in the same bag ad the pork and sweet chilli sauce and grill later, with steamed rice and veg.

Going to clean the front room Windows today.

I only have in the meat drawer, a pack of prawns and a quarter pack, 2 lemon and pepper chicken breasts, a pack of lean mince and a cheesy haddock meal for 2, I have literqlly been sticking to the title this week, getting a bit nervous about the meat drawer tbh, but I know once it is empty I will search out tge bargains, I have lots of frozen veg, that I didn't pre Blanche before I put it in, It tastes too watery, so i have decided that i am going to put it all in sc and make a veg stock, It's better than wasting it, very mse, after that, there are some doughnuts, a pack of mini quiches, a pack of bagels, a pack of muffins, a pack of mackrel, a pack of pancetta, a ball of mozerella, a pack of Thai rice, a sheet of herby puff pastry, 2 portions of chilli, some peppers, a couple of mini ciabattas, 4 mini steak burgers and parsley, that lovely lot will last the next 2 weeks, I'm really pleased, that lot could probably fit in a drawer and a bit.

    Hi all

Been a while since I posted. Hope all are well. It's really cold here, and with miserable rain, not looking forward to the school pick up.

Need to eat into reserves at the moment, am skint after two large bills and the expense of Christmas and a few birthdays. Not sure about tea. Thought of takeaway, lol. Ages since I last had one though.

Need to buy veg oil and milk today. Had lo chicken drumstick and wings for my lunch.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
  • Hey Lip stick, your back, was wondering where you got too, hope your o.k :)

Hello Lip_Stick hope you are well :j:T

No snow here just rain rain rain..

NSD for me and I've adjusted my Sat Ocado and Mon Abel & Cole orders downwards cos I have soo much veg still.

My good news is that new washing machine turned up :D my bad news is that when OH pulled old one out he discovered huge damp patch, looks like the hose was leaking eek

Lynsey, remember that your son does have to pick up the hamper to put it in the car ;)

I've started a tinned salmon offers thread but if you like it it's always worth nipping into the organic thread because as it's wild I stick any offers I see up on there.

I was checking ingredients for Heinz products on their website this week and whereas they always used to boast no artificial flavourings, colourings or preservatives I found glucose-fructose syrup in Heinz spaghetti aimed at kids.

This is another name for HFCS (high fructose glucose syrup) and I know that two years ago it was still banned in EU so I'm wondering when that was sneaked in. Unlike sugar fructose can only be processed by the liver and whereas in nature it's in fruit with fibre this is a manufactured concentrated version made from corn. It's used cos it's cheaper than sugar but it's worse.

If you live near a Costcutter they've got some good offers on.. 16 Andrex loo rolls 5.99, Ariel 800g 2.39, Kellogg's Corn Flakes 500g 1.69, 500g orange citrus fruit £1, Fairy washing up liquid £1, Viennetta £1, any 2 ltr bottles Coke etc 2.50, Innoccent smoothies any 2 for £4, Cadbury's Yule logs 2 for 3.50, Haagen Daz half price, Lindemans wines 50% off, Branston 520g £1

    Afternoon all.

Lip_Stick - great to "see" you again, hope you and the "little one" are well.

You've reminded me that we were going to have fish and chips from the chippy, definitely tomorrow night.

NSD so far, but off to Sainsbury's later to get foodbank bits and hopefully that elusive till spit. I'll check for any decent reductions.

Had bacon sandwich for breakfast, cake and coffee for lunch and mince and tatties later.

Had to visit MIL as she had problem with light switch, so hubby replaced it. £1.88 from Wilko's and she was going to call an electrician out!!

I was going to miss Lidl tomorrow, but Brother wants bits, so I'll get some rice for the foodbank.
We need basmati, so need to find a good deal.

No snow here, rain washed it all away.

Edwardia - Son has a good selection of what to take home, he'll probably leave it though stating "no room"!!

    Hi All,
Still eating the chicken I cooked earlier in the week, got enough left, so tonight I'll put it in puff pastry, bulking it out with veg and there are still bits left for soup together with the stock.

Got a 'reduced' duck before last weekend, saving the fat to do roasties, and the giblets turned out to be just duck livers so made pate out of that - OH had it for lunch the other day and I'm just defrosting some chuck steak to do in the SC so I can put the remaining pate, chuck steak and mushrooms in the leftover puff pastry to make a poor man's beef wellie. very money saving :rotfl:

Very cold here, and the hens have decided it's too cold to lay productively so down about 20% on eggs just when the customers are cooking for Christmas - sods law comes to mind.

Haven't been on recently as computer decided to freeze on me. Got that fixed then my bt equip went wrong and had to wait 1 1/2 weeks due to "tech problem" i.e someone forgot to put order through properly .
Just trying to catch up now. We got freezer down to half and have now filled it with stuff for xmas and a better variety. :o
Should only need fresh stuff, bread and milk oh and any yummy xmas goodies :p

Just heard from bt. They are going to pay me back the daily cost of broadband since the problem reported and also are sending me some filters for free :j
Looking for bargains anywhere i can :hello:

zafiro1984 I had a mad thought of hens in little jumpers.. I have tried lots and in the end my perfect eggs are Abel & Cole large organic free range and I get through fourteen or more a week :D Eggs are just fantastic, they should be classified as a superfood and so versatile too. However there's nothing like a couple of five minute boiled eggs.. mmmmm

smegcat I've had those technical problems and it meant they got one digit wrong on the order code and it went nowhere :( Good that they credited you though !

That reminded me that I got a letter today from a company offering to get us a council tax rebate. I know we're a band too high and an identical house in our road on same side was rebanded lower. I followed all the steps on MSE twice and the Valuation Office won't budge so I called and explained.

They said they'd have a go and I thought well 70% of the difference between the band we should be on and the higher one is better than the nothing we got - and if it won't cost us anything upfront, heck why not.
