Made the gram flour pancakes today and quite impressed with them for ease and useability. Used a Madhur Jaffrey recipe and reduced quantities down - so just used 2oz gram flour, 4 fl oz water and a few Indian type spices and make it like a pancake.

Should have made the spicy potato/pea filling but haven't worked out a recipe for that yet so I just had them with the chestnut veg burgers from yesterday which wasn't such a great combination.

Been searching for cracker recipes this morning after watching the Bake Off and found a few to experiment this week which will use up polenta, seeds and flour etc.

Have updated my 'stock' list in Excel! Not much better than when I posted at beginning of year as a lot of this stuff has been in the cupboard over a year which isn't great as I hate having so much! Am using what I can, having to throw the odd thing that hasn't kept well. Most stuff in the freezer is in multiples as most is from the allotment.

I have another list of potential meals just to remind me what to do with it all, and that has at least 65 meals from this lot! Again it's ridiculous to have so much in for me.

Also all topped up with veg from the allotment as needed although I keep some stuff from it at home as well if it keeps.

  • Cleaned cupboards out a bit today while I was busy in the kitchen - found a few medicines on a top shelf that were out of date! They went straight in the bin. Also found a half loaf of bread that had green mold on it which is pretty disgusting and dont know why it wasnt chucked out sooner!!

Cupboards and fridge are certainly looking emptier and not just because of the disposals - managed to finish off some cereal and ketchup from meals earlier in the week, along with running down basics like eggs, cheese, veggies, butter, etc. Had five packets of sunbites crisps which had been in my possession for a few months - have been using these as "before work" snacks for myself so they have now all been consumed.
Some tinned goods were used this week when DM made hotpot for dinner (made five batches from it) so she used up several tins of veggies; also got rid of a corned beef tin and a tin of peas from another meal.

Going to use up some salad I bought on Friday tonight - have put up two fish pieces to eat with it, also freezer dived and found a pack of bacon and 2 minced lamb pieces, they will do for later in the week. Will freezer dive again in a few days and see if theres anything good lurking at the bottom for eats. :)

What a weekend. Boys were at camp with beavers and cubs so I have driven around 170 miles in chaffeuring them to and fro over the last two days..... Antibiotics were working but i think the crazy busy weekend has taken its toll. My chest really hurts tonight :(. Lets hope I don't end up back at the docs.

Food tonight for boys was lemon sole goujons and waffles with fresh brocolli and cauli with cheese sauce. We are having meatball tapas x 3 with chips, olive ciabatta bites and salad. Also cooking 6 thai chicken kebabs for use ove the next couple of days as the pack was damaged. Using as much from freezer as possible. Not actually hungry.

Love to all of you that are ill. In fact, love to all of you anyway! x

    Evening all.

Just snacked today and hubby said those 50p Chinese style belly pork slices (Sainsbury's) were really nice. Probably none left now, but I'll look this week.

Spent £2.68 on bits this afternoon, bread, some cheap apples and milk. Also some pork kidneys for 14p, might do a steak and kidney pie. Definitely another deep dish apple pie later in the week.

Took out some soup for tomorrow and curry for hubby.
Probably pate on toast for breakfast to finish pate??

blackandwhitebunny - we weren't at all happy with the donation boxes, but the centre does run classes etc for people with disabilities and maybe the money is to fund projects??
I think we'll be looking to donate elsewhere, but would prefer a smaller organisation. We may have to look at Red Cross, Salvation Army etc and maybe even a Women's refuge?? The stuff will go somewhere though.

    Afternoon.

Took Brother shopping to Aldi and B&M's and he spent about what we spend in a fortnight!!!

I spent £1.89 in B&M's on some Ross's pickled onions for 49p and hoola hoops and throat sweets.

Probably venture out later to Sainsbury's.

No news yet of the HMV Galaxy thingy and expect it to get cancelled ............... ordered the Acer Aspire thingy from Tesco just in case. lol

Hope all are well, but we're feeling much better.

    Christmas bargains:-
Went on the MSE discount finder then through to the Amazon's website and ended up on the Amazons 'M&S outlet' page. Got a couple of real bargains for a friends youngster. A Water Slide and a Water Catterpillar. many more bargains on there - have a look, some are 85% off, mainly the discontinued lines.

I'm doing a 'santa bag' for her 2yr old instead of giving her a Christmas bonus. Thought of that bubble thing, a roll of wallpaper for hand/feet painting but has anyone got any other good ideas for other presents (got to be cheap). He's two next April but quite bright, an outdoor sort, tough, Dad's a rugby player. The reason for asking is my two offspring are now in their 40's and I'm well out of touch with 2yr olds.[/COLOR]

Thanks. Just have OH present to get and then sorted. just need to think about xmas food now.
Looking for bargains anywhere i can :hello:
