  • Evening all.

So, the clotted cream did not work out, I have now figured out why, the receipe is 4 cups of cream, which makes 2 cups of cc, I have been using a 300ml carton, yesterday 8 hours made it boiling point Pmsl and today wasn't as bad, but i only need to do it for 2 hours, I am going to get this right eventually, today was progress, I saw a coupon for free cream knocking about, will try and get 2 leaving it on for 4 hours, hopefully get 300ml of Clotted cream

Had the Mr w stir fry bits which were all reduced, noodles, pepper stir fry and then 2 chicken breast in basil, used some of that flora fry stuff, it was lovely tasted really fresh and nice, will have the left overs tomorrow, no cooking needed, as i still have some haddock and veg left over from yesterday and the smoothie.

Been tucking I.to the 50p kit kats I got the cookies And cream ones today which are yum.

I'm not going to continue with a weekly budget lol

Lynsey meant to say, how cheeky of the shelter.place to be using donations for their tea and basically selling on the donations, what is that about, maybe its a cheap kind of market? LOL dodgy.

I just had to google that descaler to see what it was, says it's phosphate free as though it wants to be seen to be a nice product lol but one reviewer commented it burnt her hand  The ecover descaler is ok for normal levels of scale - though it does build up so quick in London..

Not sure what I've learnt this year, fascinating to read of all the offers etc but then I don't really benefit from what I buy - it's hard to be much more moneysaving than I was, as a veggie into natural foods, apart from not over buying, there's not so many offers around.

and in a not very money saving way one of the pets has just peed on me so I've now put the immersion on for a second shower and the washer/dryer for one pair of jeans... £££ :(

Morning all, sadly no positive news of the Welsh girl (April).

Kirri - you will always be limited to offers/bargains being a veggie (others off the mainstream also), but it's still been great of late, best in ages. Maybe I'm noticing it more now because I'm spending more now, but the offers are much better than a few months ago.

ms_night_ryder - we need to really check out the centre as we don't want people putting in donations for the food we give.
Imagine someone putting even 10p-20p for a tin of Heinz 5 Beanz?? They were free anyway and we would have been better off just donating the coupons.
There were 2 donations tins though, we thought they were just for others to donate, not for the purchase of food given.
The "cookie and cream" Kit Kats were nice, fully agree ............... and cheap.

Breakfast - 2 x Kallo corn cakes with cream cheese. Hubby is having a bacon sandwich.
Spam Fritters later (hope they taste better than they look).
    Tinned pears with ice-cream.

Putting some bread in later also.

  • I tell you a good way to run down your fridge - get a flat tyre! My poor little car has been waiting for a mechanic (guy who used to work with my Dad, he offered to do us favours mechanical wise if we needed him) to come round and fix her up for me. Needless to say we havent been able to do a main shop since the middle of last month!
Outside freezer is still quite full but the indoor one is slowly emptying bit by bit. Its the fridge and cupboards that are starting to look sparse!

    Hi all

I popped to a larger tesco today looking for wellies for the little ones and checked the cash machine and it was giving the £1 off nutrigrain biscuits, I got 11 mini statements all with the coupon on. These are only £1 at the mo so free biscuits. Just tried to find the previous thread about this but either I'm being silly or it's disappeared but thought you might all like to know that they are out there!

    Hth.

Todays mystery package is likely to be cooked plums, now slowly defrosting awaiting its crumble top.

Linsey and everyone else - I'm amazed at all the savings you make on food. I've an awful lot to learn.
The question of next years plans:- I want the freezers to work for their living. I aim to empty each one in turn and then have one for fruit/veg, one for meat and poultry, one for meals/cakes/biscuits/puddings etc I have produced and frozen, but I must label them this time. I will probably have to go in hospital a couple or more times next year so I need a supply of homemade ready meals. Finally the freezer in the fridge - hopefully to be used for opened packages.

That's the ideal plan but at the moment I'm trying to live out of one freezer at a time and aim to put nothing back into it so I can defrost it when it's empty.

Have you put your central heating on yet? I'm siting here frozen with two jumpers and a fleece plus fingerless gloves as my OH has decided to re-route the central heating pipes - something to do with the extension he is building. The woodburner is disconnected at the moment so the water is being heated by electric £££ and I'm having to use the electric cooker again £££.

Caught up on the thread tonight as i had a bug and haven't been on this week. Looks like i missed the kit kats :( Have discovered how yummy the chinese egg noodles from blue dragon are with aldi stir fry sauces. Have got a couple of packets in for quick meals.
Money going to be tight till after xmas now so cupboards and freezer well stocked up. Will try to only shop 2 days a week max :o
Have already got biscuits (cheap from aldi) for xmas and now looking for other cheap treats to put away.

Everyone is doing so well :j
Hoping I can learn a lot and manage to catch some vouchers.
Looking for bargains anywhere i can :hello:
  • Evening all.

I stuck to my word, had smoothie for breakfast, lunch was the fish, veg and I forgot I also bought some parmiente or whatever they are called potatoes from Mr w yesterday, so had that really nice, I have just had a scone these are genesis crafty ones, got.to say they are lovely and every bit worth the 80p reduced price I paid £1.49 full price. Had the last of the stir fry for dinner.

Have taken out a pork shoulder piece to have for dinner.tomorrow, debating if i should take out the tub of cheesey mash or just have rice, will be having.it with the Mr w reduced veg, have taken out 2 lemon and raisin pancakes also by genesis, will have some Mr w reduced Strawberries in it for breakfast and will take out some salmon and watercress parcels for lunch.

I'm hoping bottle green bring bag the 50p coupon thus year, must of had about 10 bottles last year lol.

Morning all, not 100% as we both have streaming eyes, sore throat and cough!! Hope all are well, must be something going around as loads seem to be suffering.
I was up at 5am and ordered the Samsung Galaxy thingy - hope it doesn't get cancelled.

zafiro1984 - yes, we've had the heating on at times for a few weeks now. Not very MSE, but I hate wrapping up in doors just to stay warm. I like the background heat, probably costly this year, but our bills aren't too bad now since we invested in a new and better boiler.

    NSD yesterday. :j

No Lidl today, but will try and get bits later.
Pate on toast for breakfast and we're having a pub lunch (with free pint for hubby).
Probably snack the rest of the day.

Those who want to max their grocery savings, just keep an eye on the coupons threads (coupons and chat) and "elite" thread amongst others. Save all pdf coupons and be quick with the popular ones that may disappear fast (Kit Kat for example) - good luck.
My budget won't allow me to do what the "elite" crowd do ................... but maybe next year. ;)
I really missed out on fleecing Asda. lol

ms_night_ryder - the Bottle Green coupon would be appreciated here also (along with a decent offer).

    Have a great weekend.
