  • Evening all.

Audits ll done and on the way went to morries and got 1 box of the quaker sachets, 5 beans and they had the belvita biscuits on offer £1.34 to pay, on the way home stopped at Mr s for water, got a fruit roll up and a pack of.ridges £1.42 to pay, nothing needed, staying in tomorrow.

Have taken out Mr w salmon grills from freezer for lunch tomorrow and the mash and roast for dinner, easy day of no cooking.

Todays freebies, 2 roll UPS, 2 beans and a Quaker, not bad for very little effort.

Edwardia - Kraft Macaroni cheese - Yum! I think Macaroni cheese is probably in my top 5 favourite dishes - I haven't had the Kraft one for years but I remember loving it! I tend to make my own now but it is badly fattening so I don't do it that often and sometimes I sneak in some cauliflower to keep the pasta content down, which the kids don't like me doing!

I went out for lunch today with the local history group - I have to say it was a bit yuck - well that's not true - it just wasn't to my taste - I ended up having two triangles of ham sandwich and about four potato wedges - not great value for my £5!! I made a coffee and walnut gateaux for it and had a piece of that too.

I haven't really had any tea as I have picked at bits and pieces all afternoon - I could fancy something now, but have got to go and pick up DD from her friend's house so might, just might, get some chippy chips on the way home:o

Freezer is still pretty well stocked - will probably do a roast dinner tomorrow as I have all the stuff in, plus I have my McCain roasties to try that I got with my coupon. Yesterday I made an apple strudel from scratch and it was really really nice - the pastry was lovely and buttery - I only made a small one but there is still half left, so might have a bit of that after my chippy chips!!

Will go and get some more pears tomorrow too.

Was there a £5 aldi voucher in the Mirror this week that I missed?

  • Hey lynsey
yep am hoping it will do me till xmas!! may take some being creative in the lead up (and not including meals out in the budget tho will keep these to a minimum!)
feel like we literally have food everywhere at the minute so definitely doing what it says on this thread for the next couple of months and "eating from the freezers and cupboards" (rather than my usual of "constantly popping to the shops in search for bargains" !!! :rotfl:

    recovering spendaholic
yep there was a mirror voucher think it alternates monthly btwn mirror and mail!

Lynsey and katskorner well done on the bargains especially the juices !

Jane the mac n cheese was as awesome as I remembered and luckily it was on offer at Ocado with 10% off ;) GM ingredients aren't labelled in the USA and the importer had added a label saying May Contain GMO Ingredients which was a bit sobering. OH loved it though so I'm going to bulk buy the new organic Kraft Dinner macaroni cheese from Amazon :) Will probably wait until after Christmas however.

Adding cauliflower is an excellent idea - I won't eat cauli without it either being smothered in home-made cheese sauce or steamed and fried with spices.
  • Kraft has come out with a mac&cheese that has vegetables hidden in the pasta!

The price of a box has tripled in the last year. Even store brand mac&cheese in a box has gone up drastically.

Start stocking up on pasta. The grain crops here have been lousy.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning all.

No visible signs of the mouse at all, maybe it got lucky an escaped??
I'll just leave the trap in place in case he gets daring. lol

    Just toast today for breakfast.
Pizza and oven chips and apple pie with ice-cream

I might go back to Morries later to get some more Green's Cheesecake Mix before the price goes back to 80p on Monday. Hopefully another one of the BIG 4 will follow suit.
I've got enough Wright's Bread Mix to last now.

I might try Sainsbury's also around 3pm for veg stuff and to have a look.
Cheap tea-cakes/hot cross buns would also be welcome.
This weeks meals will be from freezer I hope. I won't be doing Lidl next weekend so this weeks spends should be lower. Having a separate fund will help also as that's been taking some of my budget of late. Not too bothered as I have a little to play with, but it can't continue as the annual budget was set for just us.

    Afternoon all.

Just used the last of the melon, mr w strawberries and blueberries, a bit of ginger and the other half of the canned pears, 2 of the organic frozen yogurt sticks and some ice and made theee best smoothie, genius of me to put the yogurt sticks in, lol.

Thats breakfast done, and also my 5 a day too, lol.

My sainsburys don't seem to be reducing the stuff by much now, before it was 75-85% now its more like 60, saying that, i have been getting great bargains in mr w, but need to keep out, becuse bargains or not, they have these pistachio and raspberry slices and they are sooo yummy, but expensive at £3.99 for 4 smalll slices, but so good, been in twice this week, which is better than the 3 days in a row from last week and i resisted those slices and the onion rings i would normally buy, at least i'm reducing the amount of times and the amount of junk i buy which is good, i now know i can get the beans for 50p so money off, but i will only use 1 of each type in mr w, don't want to alert them to my game, along with the glitchy reduced items, so i will behave.

Whoever was wondering if it is possible to live on a budget of around £12.50, this week i have managed to do just that, with the aid of coupons and glitches, i have had fruit and veg daily and have eaten really well for it, obviously my freezer is still full, next week i am going to monitor my spends and see if i can do the same again, got some jobs to do next week, so will be out and about and able to pass various shops, so can make the best of any deals and coupons available, i think i may try and get another quakers coupon and get some more from morries, paying 50p is a bargain, but the £1 coupon would only let me print one, going to see if it will give me another go lol.

Lynsey, x fingers that Mickey doesn't come back ;)

Ms_Night_Ryder, you are doing so well ! :T:D I can't even manage to get my veg bill to under 12.50 per week. It's weird how veg that farmers do nowt to except feed with manure is more expensive that sprayed stuff

Am finding that ASDA has cheapest organic veg but rarely has any and after that Ocado generally has better prices than Sainsbury's, Tesco and Waitrose.

Not an NSD for me as ordered some Arm & Hammer washing soda (add to detergent all natural and supposedly improves performance by 40%), Jim Beam bourbon whiskey mustard for OH (for Christmas Day evening buffet) and some Old Bay seasoning, from American Sweets.
