Morning all hope the weather is OK

ammonite we must have cross posted thanks for the heads up I will tell OH.

Today may be a NSD depends whether we go to Next to look at fabric samples or not.

The Marks & Spencer silk cushion turned up from Marks & Spencer outlet at Amazon today :D Real pleased, great quality and dirt cheap ;) I'd say it was more bronze than mocha tho.

Breakfast included that Black pudding again.. wonder if it freezes cos Laverstoke Park Farm doing 10% off everything at Ocado during October :D
  • Pork loin sandwiches sound very nice soworried, will have to do that for my OH when we have more £s as he would be chuffed with nice meaty sandwiches for work rather than cheese and onion :p Do you slice it and store it in the fridge?

Nice morning here today, got up just after 8am and have made myself pretty for the day ... not sure what we're doing though! Just had porridge w/ blueberries & honey for breakfast and OH has made himself scrambled eggs (last of the eggs which needed using), toast, beans and fried mushrooms (YS organic) :) For lunch I think we'll be out so going to make up a picnic, and for tea I have some YS baguettes out to defrost and we are going to make pizza toasts on them with passata, cheese, mushrooms & jalapeños - might do some chips in the actifry too.

Hope everyone has a nice day!

It is the £1.99 Lidl weekend half price offer ones. They are lovely for sandwiches. I get two days worth out of it for the four of us so very cheap as well. I keep it wrapped in clingfilm then just slice as we are making them.
I still have 2 more of them in the freezer. :)
    £36/£240
    £5522

Sound lovely - was just thinking of nipping to LIDL for some tuna for my packed lunches this week so might pick some up and follow your lead :T

miss_emmajane your OH must have cast iron stomach to eat cheese and onion cos onions these days are often sooo harsh tasting if not cooked :( If I have to peel onions I wear my contact lenses ;) otherwise floods of tears.

Radio Five Live keeps promoting itself as the Paralympic station but what's on..nowt but bloomin football :(

Looks like I'm being dragged shopping later cos OH wants to get curtain pole, table lamp and order the tub chairs - he went into town this morning and got a fabric sample and I have to say it contrasts perfectly with the linen curtains (La Redoute sale last yr ) Hope to avoid food shopping tho.

    Have a good day xxx

    Hi all

I have been following this thread for a while now because it keeps me motivated to use up what I have got and to find bargains. I am hoping to go through our dry food cupboard this weekend and write a list of what we have got.

I went to Tesco for a change today and got the bargain of the day. I bought 20 twinnings tea bags that was reduced to a £1 and then I had a 50 pence off voucher to go with it, when I got home I noticed that the cashier had scanned the voucer twice so got the tea for free.

Overnight I defrosted a pot of ready made pasta sauce and a portion of what I thought to be pasta sauce and I had planned to add them together. Opening up the portion I realised it was roasted potatoes, chicken and chorizo so instead added the pasta sauce to this and had it with bread rolls. It tasted really good.

Good luck with this challenge everyone.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
    Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j
  • Afternoon all.

Had fish and vegetable fingers for lunch, with the last of the fries, will get some light spiced wedges on monday.

Going to have the leftover peking ribs, with some rice and steamed spinach and brocolli, thinking of putting some salt and garlic powder on, hope it will work.

    Have a nice day all.

Hi Becky, good luck with your inventory. :)

Ms night ryder, be very sparse with the garlic powder. It can be very overpowering. I love ribs but can't justify full price at the minute. I will look out for some YS I think.

Evening all, decorating finished and looks nice.
Wallpaper hung horizontally on a feature wall (bold horizontal stripes).
Graham and Brown (Figaro) - supposed to be olive/gold, but more like cream/olive/khaki.

Becky 2 - welcome to the thread and good luck. Looking forward to reading more of your posts.

No breakfast this morning as decorator turned up early!!
Pasta meal abandoned, so we just had burger in a bun with cheese slices. Hubby had oven chips and a reduced yoghurt, I had a strawberry cream tart.

Had to do Brother's shopping today and spent a few £'s myself, so no more shopping today.

    Did buy:
    Lidl:
    2 x 1kg boxes of boil in the bag rice (half-price weekend offer) @ 59p each = £1.18
Packet of choc digestives = 59p
    Total = £1.77

    Morries:
Pack 4 large large cheese and onion buns (offer) = 75p
    Strawberry cream tarts (half-price offer) = 74p
    Oykos yoghurts (offer) = £1.09
    4 tins Heinz 5 beans @ 84p = £3.36
    Used 4 x 85p beans coupons (minus £3.40)
    Total = £2.54

    Asda:
    Asda 400g mature cheddar (offer) = £2
    4 pints of milk = £1
    Cornish pasty (reduced from £1 to 39p) = 39p
Extra Special yoghurt (reduced) = 27p
    3 carrots = 19p
    Total = £3.85
    Days total = £8.16
    Weeks total = £24.66

Target was £25 this week, so no more shopping tonight.

Week 35 and only next week to be consciously frugal and I can then buy what I want to a degree. I'll work out next week what I'll have as a weekly average spend.

I won't be doing an annual budget challenge next year, it is a long time to be committed, but has been very educational. It totally changes the way you shop and stops you buying too much and vastly reduces waste.
I could only have survived on my budget by "whoopsy" shopping and the use of coupons - that's to have a good decent diet. Most of our eating has been planned around what we had and what we bought cheaply - but we have survived so far.
The help, support and camaraderie has been great also, picked me up on approx 3 occasions when I was down and ready to chuck it all in (way past that stage now though).
A challenge within a budget is worthwhile, but maybe for a shorter period??

I've been invited out tonight (friends Daughter's birthday meal), so easy for myself.
    Hubby can snack. lol

Tesco tomorrow afternoon to look for bargains and hopefully get the L'Oreal wipes.

Took out some Lidl frying steak to make a casserole for tomorrows main meal.

BTW - the person we gave the Heinz 5 beans to liked them and said they are much better than "normal" Heinz baked beans.
