My fridge is looking sparse and it looked full up on Monday :( We seem to get OK.. I seem to get through a humungous amount of vegetables, very quickly.

OH has a big food stash in his filing cabinet and as he's off for a fortnight from Monday so he should have more than enough to last him through September except for bread and cheese.

With him home the freezer will empty out more, for sure.

Last night we demolished a pack of strawberries between us with double cream and the Green & Black's organic chocolate ice cream that was supposed to be for Christmas (1.19 off at Ocado) which was OH's idea.

Tidying up kitchen today I found an Abel & Cole recipe leaflet that shows how to make veggie fritters from leftover veg. I told OH that he's not to chuck left over veg away it's to go in the fridge for fritters. :D

chardonnay - that's a great glitch, too late to pop out now. I wonder if it'll still be on tomorrow??

Jane - toothache (ouch) - hope it's cheap!! Dentists are so expensive!!
Travelodge do get lots of bad reviews, but for £12 (minus 48p cashback), it's probably cheaper than camping ............... and I don't fancy camping in March.
I know what you mean about hotel rooms though, we would never (knowingly) go to what has been a summer 18-30 style hotel - if only the walls could talk.

Edwardia, or anyone - have you ever made cider toffee?? Is it easy?? Do you really need a sugar thermometer??
Thinking of making choc cinder toffee.

  • Thanks for the link Lyndsey, unfortunately it finished a while ago. And of course those cats with Swiss bank accounts don't eat Go Cat :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Jokes aside, we have five plus a stray we feed when he comes around, their budget is bigger than ours. :o
Fortunatley they use their face book accounts and email addresses to contribute to the household budget:D
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

    Morning
Edwardia, Did your OH hurt you when he twisted your arm to eat the icecream?:D

Some YS southern fried chicken has come out for dinner tonight. Also some YS waffles for breakfast, just to have a break from all the cereal. We are down to 8 boxes now.
Lunch will be jacket potatoes with left over curry from dinner last night.

In to the fridge went 4 packets of butter, thankyou for the glitch. :T

I will be shopping today but it should be a very low spend as most of it will be paid with vouchers.

I hope everyone has a low or no spend day. :j

Lynsey - a sugar thermometer takes the guesswork out and you can buy one for under £10, even under £5 if you're lucky. Or you can just trial and error although this can waste ingredients.

Soworried - yeah it was really painful ;) Luvverly ice cream !

Jane - hope yr toothache goes x

NSD for me. Nothing out of the freezer until tonight for weekend. No idea what yet.

Dinner tonight is going to be HM cauliflower cheese using a nice organic Cheddar cheese I found from Lye Cross Farm. Pre-packaged I've had it from Abel & Cole and Ocado, but Sainsbo's deli had it on special offer (might still be).
