  • I am still using stuff up too. Yesterday was my Birthday and the kids made my tea - it was delicious - Jamie Oliver Chicken Pie (from the 30 minute meals), so we have just had leftovers for lunch today. Tonight I am making hm burgers with some mince from freezer and doing sweetcorn (whoopsied the other day to 25p) cobs and oven chips with them.

I am determined to try and keep my grocery spending under £250 for September. I am going to keep every single receipt starting on Thursday and I bet I will be surprised at how much I actually do spend!!

When I was getting the mince out of the freezer earlier I found some pastry that I had made and frozen. It is sweet pastry so might make a manchester tart (even though I don't need the calories!!).

    I've been Money Tipped!
Popped in to my favourite store tonight and got some more Sainsburys specials. lol
Joint of pork loin for £1.99 from almost £9, two packs of nectarines for 19p per pack and some spring onions for 9p - £2.46 spent and still well under the £100 budget and only tomorrow to go.
Got there just too late and some lucky person was walking out with carrier bags full of stuff with reduced stickers on, couldn't help noticing them - well done to that person, hope it was a fellow MSE'er.

Been away today and just had a Pizza Express pizza (sloppy giuseppe), 99p'er..............who really pays £4????????
Making minestrone for tomorrow, bacon buttties for breakfast.

It's difficult to say. What are you spending now? Ther are very dedicated MSEr's who would say you could probably do it on a budget of under £100 but it's probably best if you go over to the grocery challenge thread on the old style board as they give you ideas and advice on setting and keeping to a budget.

    Morning all

Well I had a portion of the lentil and (tinned) carrot soup and the tinned carrots didn't make any difference to the taste - I did seem to be a bit heavy handed with the chilli flakes though...

It only made 2 portions because I only had a few lentils in - need to buy some more (adding to the cupboard unfortunately) but they are handy in soooo many recipes

I've just had a yoghurt with some Sainsbobs summer berries from the freezer - reckon there's another 2 portions in there. Added the bottom dregs out of a box of muesli as a granola type topping - it was too dusty and bitty to have as cereal - the milk would have made it too mushy. Think there's another couple of portions there for another time.

Pulled out the last of a bag of frozen prawns from the freezer - they're defrosting as we speak for a prawn cocktail sandwich at lunch.

Mashed potato out of freezer too to make some fishcakes for dinner with one of the 100s of tins of tuna I seem to have bought so doing nicely I think.

Not shopped since Sunday - which believe me is quite an achievement
Anywhere is within walking distance - if you have the time!!

I've done really well I feel, although I still need to use up more cuts of meat. I plan on making a steak and kidney pie, but just with the pastry on top, rather than a full pie. I've absolutely no idea how to make one though. Ideas would be welcome lol.

Also got lamb, turkey and some chicken quarters to use up but I've got a drawer of space ready to fill with cheap whoopsies. It seems ages since I've done a proper shop, maybe 2 months (been saving and paying for holidays) and I'm looking forward to doing one next week to get my fix.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
