I'm kind of a 'sling it in and see' cook :rotfl:

Don't apologise for that, experimenting encourages creativity. Without it we wouldn't have pavlova, paella, tiramisu, Scotch eggs, banoffee pie, risotto..the list is endless.

    I've been Money Tipped!
NSD on food and that's 2 in a row - I would like one more NSD, hopefully Friday.
    Keeping pennies for Saturday.
Probably pop into Asda tomorrow to use a few coupons and possibly pick up some bread, or I might bake some (1 Wright's mix left).
Found a pack of sliced beef from the deli counter at Xmas and using that tomorrow - hot beef and gravy sandwiches. 3 eggs need using also, so maybe for breakfast??

I'll have to start using the slow-cooker again, just an ornament .............. sadly.

    Hi Caz :)

The packet mix i used said add 3 fl oz of water so i just chucked a slosh in out of the kettle. The tinned tomatoes made the sauce and also the beans as i used baked beans with the sauce as i had no cannellini beans left.

If i was making it normally (without a packet mix)and with drained cannellini beans i'd use a tin of tomatoes and around 1/2 pint of water along with my herbs and spices. I always bulk out the meat with lots of veg and can thicken the sauce up at the end if need be. My lot like lots of sauce to mop up with a slice of bread :D

Sorry i'm not much help, i'm kind of a 'sling it in and see' cook :rotfl:

    K xx

Thank you, that sounds delicious, something I'm definitely going to give a go. I've got better at using my pressure cooker, but seem to have just neglected the lovely slow cooker that a friend gave me!! That will be rectified! :rotfl:

I find I don't use the slow cooker as much in the summer but have it on a lot more in the winter.

I have used an emergency tin of chilli for husband who decided he did want some dinner after football and wasn't prepared to wait until something cooked in the oven. Luckily I have emergency tins in which aren't the best but are very handy for this purpose. Also used three micro-rices and a tin of condensed chicken soup.

Out of the freezer has been 2 of the 99p chicken meals from Morrie's and a home made chicken noodle soup. Also out is a box of mars bar icecreams :o I can say that me, myself and I polished them off in three days. I blame the pregnancy hormones :D:o

Nothing IN but I will need to get some milk today.

Have a good day all - misty here but waiting for it to burn off by lunchtime and be way to hot for me at work :(

Morning, I haven't decided what to pull out yet today. I am going to do the inventory first and see if anything should be used in quick time so to speak. :o

For people with a slow cooker and a sweet tooth. Try putting a tin of condensed milk, 50p at MrT at the moment. In to a jar and put in the slow cooker. Cover the jar with clingfilm and add water to the slow cooker up to the level of the milk. Set to low for 8 hours. This will give you a full jar of the most lovely thick caramel. I spead it on a full tray of home made shortbraed and top with melted chocolate for a cheap huge batch of millionaire shortbread. :j

Soworried you don't need luck, that looks doable cos you have a good variety there.

May I ask where the organic falafel came from please ?

Might possibly nose in Lidl today for serrano ham if it doesn't have additives and some more organic Heirloom tomatoes.

I got it from a local store that sells ood or near date stock. I only paid 30p for it as well. :o
It is a shop called Barrys at Consett near Durham.
Our local farm shop sells them as well but that is out of my price range at the moment.
