I'm joining you too. We're moving to a remote Scottish Island shortly and although I realise that I will need a big stock of food on the island, we're limited on what we can take so the plan is to eat the stocks I have, save on my shopping budget because not having to buy much in the way of food, save that money to rebuild the stocks when we get up there.
So tonight it's one of my BOGOF butcher packs of burgers, frozen chips, colesslaw and cherry tomatoes.
For lunch for myself and our little people we will have pasta with melted cheese, tinned fruit.
Also we're off blackberry picking, whatever we can forage there i'll add to frozen fruit to make a nice yummy fruit pie with cream for tonight when DH gets in.0 -
Mornin all (ok....just morning!!
)
Doing well so far - altho I did get some BODOF mince from tescos the other day (working out at about £1.10 per pack for 400g) so lots of chilli in the freezer now , and I spent £10 on 3 bottles of wine from asda 1 for a party and 2 for pressies at some point (but wine isnt food right so wont count?...)
Other than that its freezer and cupboards till payday which means plan for this week is.....
Breakfasts- Cereal/Toast with Jam /Honey
Today -Lunch-hm soup and roll , Dinner Sausages and eggs, pudding gu puddings from finest meal deal
Monday-Lunch -me training lunch at work, OH sausage sandwhichs Dinner - frozen roast dinner for OH me-sandwhiches
Tues- Lunch-soup/roll or tuna or egg mayo sandwhiches Dinner -pizza and garlic bread and salad
Wed Lunch -as Tues Dinner Tuna Pasta Bake
Th Lunch -as Tues Dinner Tuna Pasta Bake
Fri Lunch- as Tues Dinner -Chilli from freezer with rice
Sat Lunch-as Tues Dinner Veg curry
Sun Lunch- as Tues Dinner Sausage casserole and potato wedges (all in freezer)
Then a weeks worth of dinners/lunches along the same lines to use up some of the tins of soup, tuna and tomatos for the week till payday!
Quick question if I may....when it comes to cooking I normally have a 3 day rule ie. if Ive cooked chicken/meat/veg Ill eat it the next day and the 3rd day but usually not past that. For tuna I normally only eat it the day after ..(not sure where Ive got that from!) is there any particular hard and fast rules about how long most food lasts when cooked. eg I cooked some potatos friday nite theyve been in fridge since then could I make them into chips or something today?
will continue reading for inspiration!...0 -
Back on board tomorrow after a weekend away, need to do a stock take before I decide on meals as no idea what's been gobbled since I have been gone! Hopefully sausages hm wedges and beans tomorrow if there are sausages in the freezer stillAnnual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Arghhh OH has informed me the freezer 'sort of broke' over the weekend. He thinks it's fixed and we only lost ice lollies bit will check tomorrow
Edit - freezer seems to be fine! phew.
Have lifted out a whoopsied Chicken and Broccoli lattice to have with cabbage, veg, roast pots and gravy for later.
Breakfast will be fruit from my delivery on Friday and lunch will be either soup or some WW toast from the freezer. We've a lot of bread products in there so want to start using them up in OH's lunch.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Got some cod in breadcrumbs today with home-made chips. Keep the haddock for later.
Took out some Lidl frying steak for tomorrow and going to try my slow cooker I've had for ages. Think I bought it with the Curry's £5 voucher glitch and it's just been sitting there. I normally use a pressure cooker. The frying steak was a little tough, actually pretty tough and I bought 10 packs last time it was on half-price weekend offer - makes nice steak 'n' ale though.

Hi everyone - hope you all had a nice weekend!
Yesterday I did a roast dinner with chicken breasts from the freezer, hm sausage stuffing (sausages from freezer (defrosted) mixed with hm breadcrumbs, chopped onion and some dried sage), hm yorkshire puddings, carrot and swede and peas. Peas were frozen ones from Aldi and were HORRIBLE - they were enormous and tasted really woody and weird - won't buiy them again!
Just had an approved foods order through so now have lots of soups, dog chews, tinned fruits, packet custard, Oasis drinks and assored biscuits. Good value shop and should last ages (as long as the kids don't work out where I've hidden the biscuits!).
Did a meal plan for next 12 days (till payday) and have enough stuff in to be able to do breakfast lunch and dinner each day, although I will have to buy milk and bread so I may go out to Farm Foods later and get some Hovis bread on the 2 for £1.50 deal.
I bought some "Help for Heroes" sausages on Saturday in Sainsburys as they were BOGOF (£2 for 2 packs) and they were really lovely so may get some more and freeze them.
Dinner tonight is another roast type dinner using leftover chicken breasts, leftover carrot and swede, potatoes and another hm yorkshire pudding. lunch today is baked potatoes with tuna, although I am cross because my daughter has just come in and told me that she has had her lunch at her friend's house so now I've got a wasted potato - might make wedges out of it tomorrow!
I hate it when I get an approved foods order - I want to try everything!!!Jane

Sependaholic - i like the help for heroes ham and bacon - didn't realise they did sausages too! Will check them out.
I just spend £16 in waitrose! - lunchbox things for OH which will last till i can be bothered to bake (the weekend probably) and some reduced chorizo style sausages whirls which we will have with jacket potatoes tomorrow. The pork sausages in my freezer can then be used with the hot dog rolls also in the freezer and one night/weekend lunch can do hot dogs.
Going to see if i've enough now to last till payday (16 days!) - i may even bake bread in an attempt to stay out the shops.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

I have been following this thread and I need to join please? I have a two freezers bursting and cupboards and a garage that is now a kitchen cupboard! I am a hoarder and cant resist a bargain!
I have cut down on my shopping trips I used to go weekly every friday and now only pop in for essentials but then always end up with reduced bargains and then squeezing it in to the freezer or cupboards! So I need to be strict with myself and figure if I join it will keep me motivated.
I have even been baking bread in the bread machine to avoid the shops but succumbed to the Lidl mince bargains and then bought a trolley load of other stuff.
I do need to do a stock check on the freezers (although I have got about 8lb of rhubarb in there due to an over active plant in the garden).0
