Oh dear. I've got my mother staying for a week so committed a cardinal sin yesterday due to lack of time and needing to stock up fast. I ordered a Tesco delivery which arrived today. Being a total Lidl/Aldi convert I was shocked at the £95 bill (inc delivery). :eek:The fridge and freezer are full to bursting (as are the cupboards) and I doubt i'll need to buy anything except milk/bread/fresh veg/fruit for a month as I already had a pretty full freezer already. Thats not including the drawer I have filled in OH's freezer!!!

Not spent more than £40 a week in a supermarket since I joined this thread (usually less)so am totally traumatised and have had to have a glass of wine to revive me :)
Not posted for a while but do read the thread regularly. Great motivation from all of you. Well done to those with more willpower than me :T
  • Am restocked now as of yesterday so from now on no grocery spending for at least a week, hopefully more! Have to be extra frugal this month to cover car repairs :(

Today breakfast was via usual fruit n fibre cereal and soy milk, lunch was free - had leftover food at work, oh the glamour! Dinner was via cupboards and freezer - salmon, pasta, pesto that needed using and fresh courgette bought yesterday
I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:

blackandwhitebunny thanks for the Sainsbury's tip. Got to hit local hospital tomorrow early for about 12 blood tests and as the cholesterol one is fasting I will be soo hungry. After that got to go pick up new contact lenses finally in next town and will look in Aldi and Holland & Barrett.

NSD today was lousy weather here too Lip_Stick.

B - the usual fried eggs and mushrooms
L - Cornish lemon sole pan-fried in beef dripping
Snack - bowl of raspberries with clotted cream and double cream
Dinner - none - fasting for blood tests since 1900

Never had cooked with dripping before - expected it to be strong taste and wasn't but it spits a lot so I need to buy a splatterguard pronto ! Morrisons Cornish sole not great - lots of roe, yuck.

    Morning all.

Still no idea what I'm doing for tea today. Breakfast has been cereal, dinner will be a cuppa soup. Might get out some of the pigs in blankets I have, and have beans or veg and gravy with um.

Running out of milk and broke until Wednesday. There's a glimmer of sunshine so the window cleaner might be coming round to take the last of my cash.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Morning everyone, not much to report, removed some mince yesterday so having that tonight with potatoes and vegetables, tomorrow is jacket potatoes so nothing to remove from the stash BUT yesterday I defrosted the freezer. To be honest, I should have waited until it was emptier but bearing in mind on the 10th I'm having a huge meat delivery decided it was now or wait for a looooong time. Only took about 15 minutes so quite pleased with that and everything now fits soooo much better!!! I keep having to resist the urge to open the door to have a look at my handiwork (sad I know!). I can now definitely see where I have made progress so my journey continues.........
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!
  • Off out and will call into morrisons, but hope to spend very little, just some of their saver coleslaw, hoping to just spend a few pounds in total, we shall see.
Edwardia - good luck with the fast and hope the tests are ok tomorrow

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning.

Toasted tea-cake for breakfast and turkey stir fry later.

Need that sweetcorn today and need milk and Bertolli (if still £1).
Trying NOT to buy much for the freezers and NO Lidl visit this weekend which should help. Need to focus this week and next on what IS needed now, rather than what MAY be needed in the future.

    Catch up later.

morning all went to mil yesterday and they had burnt the chicken so off we went to the coast for fish and chips (i acually had lasagne cause i didn't fancy chips) they treated us but we paid £9 for ice cream for everyone :o also nipped into tesco and got some reduced beef shin it was only 54p down from 89p but we use it anyway so seems like a good idea,, got a few reduced yogurts aswell and that was it.

todays plan for dinner is sausage rolls beans and chips, our new sofa's are coming so i need a quick tea so hubby can talke the old one away and the kids will be out of the way, gonna do cheese and ham toasties for lunch, i havent had any breakfast as i'm not feeling 100% kids had jam sandwichs and oranges, ds3 just had a yogurt aswell.

All i should need this week is milk, carrots and mushrooms, gonna do stewed steak with mash one night in my slowcooker, with carrot and turnip mash and then i'll make a pie with the rest for a quick tea over the weekend, then next sunday i will be going to te$co insearch of cheap bread and some yogurts.

Btw my budget os for everything including snacks in school, cleaning stuff, nappies, takeaway ect, but as i stock up so much i do do a monthly total but it's the anual one that matters, i budget £200 a month for all 5 of us, we spent £2600 last year so £200 over but i was still please with that since i prob have more than £200 worth of food in my house lol, at present i have 2 years supply of laundry powder/liquid and fairy, and a good 6 months + of toilert roll, and more than enough smellies to do us til xmas other than the odd deoderant, i won't have an acurate figure for this year as i've lost track the last 2 months with moving and life getting in the way, i plan to drop my budget to £100 a month soon if i keep going so well with whoospies and offers, i've done mock shops online and i can feed us all for £80 (which includes a few bags of crisps and biccys), it's all money in the houssy pot after all and can easily be put back up if i find it to much of a struggle.

i could feed us for alot less but i need alot of fruit and yogurts for the kids, we drink alot of milk aswell but i can get it for 90p for 2litres in several shops so not that bad really, it still acounts for alot of our budget tho, i've started making sauces and puddings uning skimmed milk powder and leaving us the proper milk for cereal and drinking which i do think is saving us abit, gonna start making my own yogurt again soon.

Good Morning MSErs ! (think Robin Williams Good Morning Vietnam) well got to hospital at 0740, to be told system has changed and whereas they used to get a nurse to do fasting bloods before phlebotomists came in, they don't now. So there's me unaware of this, feeling decidely faint after nearly 12 hours without food in front of two nurses who could have stuck me in less time than they took arguing that it wasn't their department.

So I went to my surgery in the hope that I could get someone qualified to stick needles in me to do it before the first patients at 0830. Luckily, I found my GP told him he'd do and he agreed to do them. :T So yes all sorted thanks Save Dosh.

So after a breakfast of eggs and mushrooms I feel human and after much messing around with appts I finally get to pick up my contact lenses yay. Also gives me opportunity to look at Aldi.

Lip_Stick (((Lip_Stick))) been there and my absolute-emergency-nothing-in-the-house dish is a 2 egg omelette stuffed with herbs from garden.

Sunny gonna walk dog and dash catch y'all later xx
