I'm on the anti freezer emptying challenge at the moment...

I think a few of us are doing the same!!!

Lovely to see you back and echo cheerfulness4's post - take care of yourself.

"Veggie Day" number 2 of the week and all sorted - porridge for breakfast, Linda Mc burger in a bun with onions, salad and h/m chips, soup and fruit with ice cream later.

Definitely taking a pork joint out for tomorrow and Sunday and if we finish off a tub of ice cream and an apple crumble, that should get back some space.

No shopping today until late evening as need milk, I'll pay over the odds in Sainsbury's again (£1.18), but hope to get that 18p back several times over with reduced stuff.

    Hi all

went to waitrose last night and had a result! thy had gu puds on bogof AND reduced to 99p so i bought 2 and saved £3.49 which paid for my bread and sausage rolls :)

lifted sausages out the freezer tonight, which will do me tonight and tomorrow, even sunday if OH doesn't fancy them today. Will see if he's off out or not.

Back on the WW big time at the moment so lots of veg and fruit is being eaten here, got a few .49p ready meals and bits in waitrose the other day which will do for lunches at work if i'm stuck for food inspiration.

Need milk and coffee, so will see what waitrose offers are like just before closing tonight.

Morning all and welcome back Kirri. I hope you feel much better soon

My ambition to use up loads from the freezer on my week off have't been too successful cos I've been invited out for dinner twice and DS didn't fancy the stuff I WAS using so sorted out his own tea 3 times (he's 22 and going through a "I'm a man, I can choose what I eat if I buy it" phase ).

Having whoopsied lamb chunks made into a moroccan tagine for tea tonight. Was 1.40'ish reduced from 4.50 in mrT and got 3 packs the other day. My freezer has "must try harder" written all over it...or should have!

OH's 3 freezers (we don't live together) are emptying slowly, but he leaves me to update his content's lists from what he can remember he used, instead of just crossing them out as he uses things up. Drives me potty....lol

You can tell us what went in it. Recipe plse?

    Easy peezy.
8oz dried fruit whizzed in blender if large pieces.
    2oz chopped mixed nuts
    2oz seeds
    4oz porridge oats

Mix together and then it just needs something to make it stick. In this case I pur!ed 3 well over ripe pears and added a squeeze of lemon juice to give it some sharpness. This was quite a lot of liquid and gives a soft bar.

Other things to consider binding it are fruit juice, fruit concentrate with a bit of hot water etc.

    Cook in a preheated oven 180 C for 15- 20 mins.

I like this recipe because there is no sugar or melted butter in it. DS and DD have never complained and all the fruit makes it sweet without being too sweet.

Right now I actually wish I was starting a clean slate with an empty freezer! I only fancy fresh food. My tastes currently are weird and also am much more aware of what I'm putting in my body that will do it good, I'm even off chocolate strangely for me!!! (sure that won't last!!).

Had a banana so far today, SO tired but in so much pain I can't sleep through it till I've had more pain meds and I can't take those until my mum arrives with my shopping today as I've run out of bread for toast as I need to eat first. Might have some yoghurt in the meantime. (am looking forward to weighing myself next week!!)

Last day of the Easter Holiday for me so -

    Porridge for breakfast.
Leave family to make their own sarnies for lunch as I'm off out to a local NT place with a packed lunch.
Bean chilli followed by raspberry jelly tonight. The number of jellies I have managed to stockpile is just embarrassing!

Sounds lovely, thanks for posting the recipe. But I imagine w/o the fat content they won't last for long, so small quantities would work well here.

Morning all and big hug for Kirri ((((((Kirri))))))

Tomorrow off to optician to pick up new contact lenses  Will use the opportunity to nose in an Aldi and an independent health food store.

Will be rummaging in freezer for something that defrosts quickly for dinner. Got my freezer and fridge on the recommended settings but frozen stuff so hard I could a burglar with a red gurnard :rotfl:Takes at least 24 hrs for stuff to defrost.
  • Good morning
Good to see you back Kirri and hope you feel better soon. Your tastebuds going funny is a side effect of anesthetic but they should get back to normal in a day or so.
I've just had two YS croissants with YS chorizo on them for breakfast, they were yum.
Last day of school hols today:( I'm off out with MIL again today - so probably lunch out.
No idea for dinner will have a freezer dive in a minute.
Have taken cat to the vet, She hates me :( will need to live from the stockpile and freezer for weeks to pay the bill.
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

Morning all. Feeling a bit groggy here, ds was at the folks last night so I attacked the wine instead of tonight. Made a decision to not drink for 4 weeks!

Went to York yesterday and managed to avoid the down pours. Had a lovely walk around the shambles. There were a few shops that kept ds' interest, like a gun shop and an armour shop. Visited an old fashioned sweet shop, which was just John Bulls from near Brid (visited the factory a fair few times as a kid) and the prices were ridiculous! £3.50 for a small bag of peanut brittle. Bet the tourists pay it too.

Had dinner at the Brown's cafe. Wasn't anything spectacular. Ds got a kids meal which was fish fingers, chips and beans. 4 fish fingers he got which I thought was too much, plus it was all piled on top of each other so didn't look nice. Soggy bean soaked chips.. hmm.

Went to the Jorvik viking centre which is expensive for what it is, and rather rubbish when I think of the rides at Disney that I was doing less than a month ago. I told ds it was like 'It's a small world' but more smelly. I can go in as many times as I want in a year for the ticket. In theory I could sell it on as I didn't sign it in front of them or anything. Not sure how they check.

I had noodles with szechuan sauce for tea when I got home, which was really nice, esp at 33p for the meal. Thinking of having the lidl lamb shank for tea tonight with mash and veg. Don't know about dinner.

Don't know what I'm going to be up to today. Probably stay in when ds gets back. Don't need to buy anything so hopefully a nsd.

Glad to see you back Kirri. I had visions of you legging it last minute from the hospital, bare foot and flashing your bum in your surgical gown! :D Hope you feel much better very soon. Big hugs!

blackandwhitebunny - hope the cat's better soon.

There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
