I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Sofiaki - I have romantic notions about going to the boulanger every morning & buying everything from the market about France...! Great that you can get approved foods deliveries, they're fantastic, still using up the noodles I got months ago!
Went out for lunch with my brother yesterday which was lovely. Spent more than I thought I would, couldn't resist a merlot
His train was late, so popped into Spar & got some whoopsied muffins, yum.
Made a veggie spag bol today, two portions, so one for today, one for freezer. I was thinking about doing an Asda shop this week, but got a £10 Tesco voucher from valued opinions so tesco it is. Need milk, and going to get some chicken to use my stir fry & curry sauces.0 -
Very quiet today??
Spent £2.04 on biscuits, potatoes, tomatoes and a bag of cooking apples reduced to 34p.
Needed the tomatoes to go with the salad and 79p for 6!!!!
Wish my tomato plants would hurry up.
The bread I made yesterday was by far the best I've made so far, just needs tweaking a little. Probably make some more on Wednesday.
Sofiaki - sorry for guessing Bulgaria wrong, especially when you had given a Paris weather update - I need to up my medication a little........at least!!
Good to see France getting some bargain offers, other EU countries seem to have decent offers especially Spain and Portugal.
Lip_Stick - you're going a way soon aren't you??
Another day closer, hope the weather lasts.
I need some crisps, hope I get some soon!!!
No plans for tomorrow yet, but those prawn rings for £1.25 were a good bargain, wish I had took the lot now.

Evening all
Had risotto for tea. Not a big fan of risotto but it was free. Bit lo for tomorrow. Spent a few quid in Asda as needed sickness pills, a lemon, butter and something to eat for dinner on the journey.
Ds is off to mam's from school tomorrow and with his dad on Wednesday so won't be making him meals. Think I've got some browned off mince in the freezer, may make a chilli for myself.
Sofiaki - fingers crossed the weather holds out! I love Paris, it's my favourite city.
Lynsey - 3 MORE SLEEPS! Not much more to pack now, but I'm a little worried my suitcase will be an inch too big. Won't be taking a case for ds so I'm hoping they'll overlook it! Mam has said she'll give ds £100 to get him something nice which is good of her and dad, and has relieved the pressure off me somewhat. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Morning all
Ds must be tired as he's still in bed. Will drag him out of it in a minute. Loads of ironing to do and think I may need to swap a suitcase again.
Just watching the news about eating red meat. Thinking about it I don't eat a lot of processed meat for main meals. I tend to have red meat more though, compared to white meat. Think I need to up my intake of fish more, especially oily.
Will do that after I come back lol. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Morning.
Lip_Stick - is there a size restriction on your case?? Thought it would just be weight on a coach??
I wish I was going away today rather than 2 weeks time, I can't wait and although not excited as it's just a break, I'm counting the days also this time.
Nothing planned today, but prawns to finish off.
Got over another one of our "hurdles" yesterday (which was great), but hope there isn't a "sting in the tail!!!! (long, long story).
Might make some more bread later, quite enjoying it - wanting to add more bits like seeds etc. rather than just plain bread.

Lyra - I suppose it could be like that, all romantic notions ... not a lot of that in Paris though. We leave that for the tourists
Yeh, Approved Food was discovered through my "need" for Cadbury's flakes. Delivery from a local supermarket starts at €9, so £15 delivery up to 25kg isn't a huge hit at all. Plus the exchange rate goes in my favour (for now), so one happy camper. I curb my Cadbury addiction and am presently fighting against making an order :rotfl:
Lynsey - it's true I didn't quite get the Bulgaria connection, but hey ... why not?
LipStick - Paris is not a bad city to live in, although tourists tend to stick to the same areas which is a pity. Loads more to discover. The local neighbourhoods are very interesting. A market that tourists never discover, and the cheapest, is March! Aligre. Well worth a look. I'm hoping to get back down there once mobility is resumed. Long haul though.
Wel jel of those prawn rings Lynsey. Last night I had fennel and mozarella (half price) salad ... one of my weird and wonderful mixes followed by a yoghurt.
Have a good'un all.0 -
Lynsey - it's true I didn't quite get the Bulgaria connection, but hey ... why not?
Sofiaki - I latched (wrongly) onto the Sofia part (Bulgaria) - if your username had been Pariski, I might have got your location right.
I would like to visit France, never been for years and years. Usually do Spain, Portugal, Greece and the Greek Islands and Cyprus.
Capital cities?? I enjoyed both Prague and Barcelona and Amsterdam to a slightly lesser degree. Most of what I learned and know about Paris is what was learnt at school. lol
Dentist part 2 today and probably hand over the bulk of £204 (£17 so far)!!!
Looked and looked all morning for some dentist coupons, but failed badly!!! :rotfl:

:rotfl: Yes, exactly what I'd be doing if I was on holiday there!Lyra - I suppose it could be like that, all romantic notions ... not a lot of that in Paris though. We leave that for the tourists
A friend said she was going to Tesco yesterday evening & did I want to come, so that worked out quite well. A few good reductions but none that were on my list, so left them be!
Got chicken for stir fries, lamb for curries, milk, toiletries, current buns, apples and peanut butter. Came to £14.36  But handed over my £10 reward from valued opinions & paid only £4.36 :T Lady on the checkout said 'Oh that's good!' hehe.
Already made the curry, so that's 4 portions for the freezer. Going to batch cook the stir fries tomorrow, so my freezer will be v.full. However, got a nice selection of meals to eat, and I will NOT buy anything else!
Tonight am having the last of the veg stir fry I did a while ago, cereal for breakfast & peanut butter sandwiches for lunch....been craving those
So really don't need anything. Got plenty of food, milk, teabags & a lovely friend sent me some dairy free chocolate, so no treats needed either!0 -
I must get stuck into my Valued Opinions surveys. Love the £10 Tescos vouchers!
Did a stir fried with a reduced stir fry pack from tescos but I let it catch on the bottom. That mucked that recipe up. We ate it though.
Pulling the last ( I think) of the reduced braising steak out of the freezer for tea tonight.
Need to inventory it again as I'm not sure what proteins are left.
Want to write a list of bakery reductions too as I'm sure I've stuff I've forgotten and could do with having at the mo.
Lynsey - can I ask - do you use your loyalty cards when you give over a batch of coupons? Don't want MrT blackballing me as it sees me use them everytime I do little shops. :eek:AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Generally yes, I've been told that Tesco don't hand back the coupons but just deduct the amount from invoices??
If I've been a little naughty I normally pay cash and no loyalty card.
Depends if the coupons are just for a named store or not IYSWIM??
PDF coupons can be used over and over, so no problems. Coupon printer ones can be traced.
Never ever been banned......................yet!!
