Hi all, feeling under the weather with a cold. OH had hospital appt today so rest of day off. Boiled eggs for breakfast, fried eggs and chestnut mushrooms(Morrisons) for lunch and OH has a baking tray of home-made swede (Lidl) oven chips in the oven which I will snack on with melted grated Welsh Cheddar cheese (Morrisons offer) on top. So dinner will be veggie and I may have to haul meself to Sainsburys.

    Evening all

Having a rest from ironing. Just making myself chilli with wedges. Lost half a pack of Old El Paso wedges spice I had, had to use some piri piri spice I had lurking in the back of the cupboard that had seen better days.

Edit - turns out the chilli was in fact my Moroccan lamb dish. I had to improvise as didn't fancy that with my spicy wedges so used half a tin of refried beans with a little bit of the lamb. Didn't turn out to bad. Looks like I'm having the lamb again tomorrow though.

brighteyes1987 - just checked and it's about 8 euros a day and I need all the money I can get lol. A £40 shop for less than £20 is great, just leave it to as long as you can I think so you know what you've run out of.

Lynsey - quick, change your name, your dentist might never find you!

Edwardia & katskorner - Hope you feel better soon, ds has a cold which I'm hoping he doesn't pass on to me!

Gailey - crap English food abroad is a pet hate of mine. I love European food, especially Spanish. All that seafood. Yummm! Pee's me off that a lot of our seafood gets sent abroad.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

    I've been Money Tipped!
brighteyes1987 - I never got any prizes or vouchers, only coupons. Missed the 1st 2 days I think and they had disappeared by then!!
Hope you get yours though, nice little treat.

Lip_Stick - any ideas for a new name?? lol
I've asked if he'll take toothpaste in part payment, Oral B of course. ;)

Edwardia - hope you're feeling better.

katskorner - hope you're also feeling better.

Kirri - hopefully I'll find some cheap seeds etc., I was relying on you though. :D

Gailey - well done on weight loss, keep them posts coming - they are fun.

NSD today and probably not spend much if at all tomorrow, though milk is needed.
Never made bread and away quite a bit tomorrow, so maybe have to buy some!!
Took some more teacakes out for breakfast, a pack of 6 leaves a nice gap to fill.
Waiting until the weekend for veg and might pop into Aldi to get some stuff (39p) and Lidl for cheap carrots.

Those prawns were lovely just heated in a little garlic oil - mad I never cleared the lot!!

    1 MORE SLEEP TO GO!

This time tomorrow I'll be just about getting on the coach.. if I get there on time. :D Mind you, it's still an extra day til I get to venture into one of the parks. No point in getting excited about what will probably be a horrendous journey lol.

Hoping I won't spend anything today. Need to go into town to get my euros sometime today. No idea what I'll be having for meals, soup for dinner perhaps with the rest of the Moroccan lamb, and re-fried beans somewhere.

Lynsey...hmm.. name change..Queenie Couper? Those prawns sounds lush. A lot of time, the simplest things taste the best.

Lip_Stick - 1 more day to go!! WOW
Time has gone quick since you started your countdown, this year is flying in!!
Prawns are nice simply done in garlic oil and wouldn't mind doing the same again, but only 2 prawn rings left and keeping for Easter. Got some jumbo prawns in a bag though, so could take a few out.

Toasted teacake in a mo and away for a "surprise".......hope it's pleasant and NOT as bad as it might be!!

I'll have to have a wee look in the freezers to see what we can have tonight, possibly just fish with peas and sweetcorn. Apple crumble and custard for "afters" as some of you lot say. lol
We normally say "puddings" up here, but love hearing "afters"!

Find out later what my local Lidl meat offer will be, but not too bothered if it's a rubbish one as nothing needed for freezers, just fruit and veg and bread really. Getting low on tins (apart from tomatoes) and need to look out for Branston beans etc.

Have a nice day....................we are hoping for one.

I'm not as thorough as finding bargains lol - the one and only time I had a Tesco online order they were a good price - I rarely go anywhere near a Tesco though as it's further out. Only other place I found good for seeds was a shop selling things loose in Sussex!

Kirri... there you go, you don't come on here and you get into bad ways tut tut. :p

I know! I had a milkman order this morning because they gave you a free box of chocs if spending over £12, my fridge is heaving now and I feel guilty!!

Have a good holiday, all this talk of holidays is making me want one now!!

My 1st trip to france was vegetarian and they thourght that was odd.

My pet hate on holidays in europe is cafes selling crap british food like english breckfast and chips and people not discovering the real restaurants of the country they visit.Watched man in costas other week and all the ex pats were shopping in iceland!

Think jaimie oliver said as percentage of income british people spend less of their income on food that europeans.
We also have big obesity problem, got diet book french women dont get fat and the french do have more restrained eating habits and guess in paris a lot of exercise!

I found anywhere in Europe difficult as a veggie, Austria/Germany being the worst.

I don't think anwhere else seems to have such an obesity problem and large scale crap food as the UK though saying that! It's one reason I love travel, the food options and markets and fresh food always seem better.

Well done on the weightloss! Last time I got made redundant my waist went down to 25"! This time out of work though I had such a huge stash of chocolate and other food that hasn't happened yet!!!!

I need to get back on track, I've far too much food again :( hopefully nothing will get wasted though, I am just having to eat a lot more veg per meal which is no bad thing.

Great idea, might try there first (not Sussex though!!). Not too sure if Home Bargains or B&M stores will stock any seeds/grains.
When do you mix the grains with the bread Kirri, is it when neading??
Or do you put them in at the start with flour, yeast etc??
Obviously poppy seeds etc, sprinkled on top is when formed.
I think garlic salt would be ok added at the start and other ground spices and herbs for herby bread.

As much as I hate Tesco they do have a nice wholefoods section! They did a good price organic olive oil too.
I put them in after about 15 mins - my machine beeps then to add anything, it does have an auto seed dispenser but it's easier just to add them in the top. I think the only reason they say not to put them in at the start is so they don't get crushed up, but I don't really think they would.
Have never experimented with spices/herbs, maybe I should try.
