^ good luck for the MOT. Not got a car at the moment, as live in an area where I can either walk to most places or get a bus, but remember well the anxiety about getting the car through the MOT!

Went to tesco today to get some dairy free spread and more milk. Treated myself to some whoopsied cherries & a can of ginger beer but didn't get anything else. Jacket potato with spagehetti hoops & cheese for lunch/dinner. My stash of spaghetti hoops from approved foods is finally going down :rotfl:

I know I'm going to come across as a bit of a cow but was shocked at the young woman in front of me. She had two bags full of shopping & it had come to £40  I think I'd have a heart attack if I spent so much on so little.

Must admit if I was working and back to 'normal' shopping and buying what I wanted, I'd probably spend £40 on 2 bags if I was in Waitrose with their nice food! I never seem to get an awful lot of food for my £40 Ocado min orders! Was so close to getting a free delivery slot and 20% off voucher in one go last night but the slot went, pfft, the slots change all the time when you refresh or clear cookies, probably have to wait another week now.

Good luck with the MOT Lynsey, hope you got a deal on booking it :D Got mine soon too, dreading it, worse than going to the dr myself really. My fave place charges less if I book it online. Am having a nightmare on massively increased insurance quotes too being on JSA.. so unfair.

NSD for me! £14.93 spent so far in Feb on both food and veg, mainly because I have no money to spend lol, all going on bloody car bills.

Breakfast - usual toast and marmite
Lunch - Quorn beef and allotment shallot sandwich and orange juice
Dinner - will be cheese omelette and allotment pink fir potato wedges and the last bit of the mayo before the date is up (still have 1 spare jar I bought by accident though).

OH stayed over in London last night so he'll be home tonight wanting something meaty no doubt. I've defrosted some mince from Lidl so he can do spag bog without the spag :D The mince isn't as good as the veal mince from Waitrose but Lidl mince beats many others and ALL of that frozen extruded looking stuff. Instead of spaghetti, we serve it on a nice pile of sliced runner beans/green beans mmm. I've given up buying chunks of parmigiano reggiano parmesan though as even in the fridge, wrapped in clingfilm and in an airtight box it goes mouldy ! I tend to slice Mozzarella over it now.

    Breakfast - yogurt
Lunch - boiled eggs (usually I have eggs for breakfast) I lurve eggs and if I had a bigger garden I'd have chickens :)

Definitely not me then.................................I'm not a "young woman". ;)
My brother spends silly amounts on silly things, silly to me anyway. He's single and spends more per week than we probably spend in a month - well 3 weeks anyway and there are 2 of us!! He just picks up what he wants, though does look at prices sometimes and we have got him using a few coupons on top of his Tesco WYS vouchers. He mainly shops at Sainsburys and we pick stuff up in Lidl and Morries - lorra, lorra shopping for a single person!!

1 steak pie, 1 corned beef pasty and 1 turkey and bacon pasty - all gone now and I did eventually do the Jamie Oliver hot cross bun pudding with last tin of custard, so now custardless.

My Lidl offer is not as hoped for (it's pork chop), so little spent there at the weekend on food, though getting some stout for hubby.

Maybe those fishfingers will go tomorror. lol I've still got 2 packs to use!

Not a biscuit in the house and no puddings (apart form Xmas pudding) and no ice cream left - this is the lowest I've been in ages and the lack of spending much be catching up!!
Hoping for a under £20 spend this week and not a penny spent so far, but maybe later.

  • Hi all, can I join please???

I have been reading through with interest and as i'm now officially skint :( I dont really have any other option but to use up my overloaded cupboards/freezer.
I'm pretty sure I can manage for at least 2 weeks with the exception of milk & fresh fruit, I have plenty of veg in the freezer.
It's just me and dd who is 6, I do get paid weekly (I know very rare these days lol) on a Friday but this week and next week I have some unexpected costs so I will prob have around £10 each week for food.
Thanks to the use of coupons I am as well stocked as any supermarket for washing powder, softner, fairy, flash, toothpaste etc so no need to spend anything there.
I'm sure I can do this but I need some encouragment from all you experts please!!
    Thanks
    BE xx

    My NSD's are over!!

Popped into Sainsburys and nothing really reduced and stuff that was wasn't that cheap. I had a little look around the freezers to see what was reduced and loads of bits at half-price and then BINGO - prawn rings reduced from £5 down to £1.25, only bought 2 but they had plenty. Decided to check the shelves and spotted another bargain clearance item - Calypso Jubbly Orange Ice Lollies (10 pack) for only 37p down from £1.47 - got 2 boxes of those for the "kids". :o
These lollies are being re-packaged to boxes of 8, hence the clearance - Sainsburys don't mess about though when clearing things!!
So £3.24 spent tonight and that's my total spend for the week so far. Prawn rings will do nicely for Good Friday - well sorted for that day!!

Non budget items - popped into Asda 1st and luck was on my side and "bought" another 2 Dettol handwash machines for free. lol Also bought hubby 2 shaving oils for 50p (thread somewhere) and used a 50p off coupon for a Dettol aerosol - 50p - lots of stuff for £1.50.

Welcome BE and nice to see another couponer.

Edwardia you might find that the clingfilm is why its going mouldy. I keep mine wrapped in greasproof loose in the fridge and it lasts for absolute ages.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who inspects other's trollies in the SM and thinks 'I wouldn't pay that for that, good grief, didn't they check the price etc etc':rotfl:
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

^ place where I get my veg parmesan says to wrap in greaseproof and then also in an airtight box to stop it going hard as well.
Edwardia - as there's just me eating it, I usually put it in the fridge for a week or two to use but then before it goes mouldy I grate the rest and just use it straight out the freezer, taste isn't quite as strong but saves throwing it.

B&WB - I nose at what others are getting as well though despite what I used to spend (and may partly spend again when working!) - the other day I saw the person behind me had 4 ready meal lamb shanks at £3 each and that was the offer price! seemed a lot for a boxed slightly unreal meat meal probably quite small and full of preservatives and just a bit of gravy!

Welcome BE, you'll be in like minded company on here!!

Had to laugh at this, the rise of the 'professional shopper' ;) watch out, Morries are probably watching and reading..

Toast to start with, pancakes to use rest of soya milk up for later.

omg lettuce soup, delicious. There are many options but mine was
    lettuce
    onion
    potato
    carrot
    stock
    seasoning
    butter

fry all the ingredients in the butter then add to pan to simmer. When tender blend or push through sieve. This tastes nothing like lettuce, more along the lines of pea and ham. I think its the best one soup I have ever made.
