Thank you for the cheese tips !! I have some greaseproof paper somewhere.

Spring cleaning atm and discovered a pack of 15 foil containers with lids bought from Lidl last year so made OH asparagus and walnut risotto, to use up asparagus and last of walnuts from Christmas ! Was a bad person and had a few spoonfuls myself and that's probably messed up my blood sugar grr..

Worked out (finally) that NSD = Non-shopping day and just worked out that I've done none for 7 days and that OH has only been to Tesco Express once this week for cheese rolls.

Maman called and asked what I want for my (big) birthday next month. I replied quick as a flash, a new body and a toyboy. :D She offered me a week's holiday anywhere I want to go, and while I like the idea of Morocco or Oman, being accompanied by my mother just wouldn't be the same !

Before the risotto I'd lost some weight since quitting milk in tea. All my trousers are so loose now I can pull them over my hips. I had problem hanging onto trousers and lab yesterday.

IF OH gets home reasonable hour we've got lamb meatballs from freezer (ASDA special offer) and I'll do a Middle Easternish sauce.
  • Evening all, thanks for the welcomes :)

Toast for breakfast, dd had cereal (we've got 6 boxes on the go lol)
Hot cross bun & banana for lunch
Pasta, sauce (jar type :o), sausage and cheese all mixed up for dinner, was yummy and a portion left over for lunch 2moro.
DD had creme egg ice-cream for dessert, this is amazing stuff but as I'm so skint I didn't have any so it will last dd longer.
Usually I would've just binned the pasta so hoping I'm getting to grips with this.

Usually I don't have a lunch due to the hours I work so I do save money there :rotfl: but I'm on annual leave this week and I can't go without lunch when I'm not busy lol

    'ello all

Just had a gorgeous tea. My lamb 'concoction' turned out lovely. Nice and exotic tasting. Served it with couscous. Had enough leftover for 3 meals which will go in the freezer. Ended up having a cheese and salad cream sandwich for dinner.

No plans for meals tomorrow, pasta bake with philly maybe, or sausages and mash.

Lynsey - Glad your car passed, that's one less expense on your mind eh.

I'm a wee bit glad also. :D (phew!!!!).
Had visions of a £500+ day after this mornings episode!!
God knows how much it would have cost for Bentley brakes. :rotfl:

Went to Sainsburys, but not what I was after.
Did get a few things at a fraction of cost though.

    Milk - full price - £1.18. :(
Prawn ring £5 down to £1.25 (another one).
    Teacakes £1 pack (3 packs) for 10p each - 30p
Mini rolls £1.49 down to 10p.
Kingsmill wholemeal loaf £1.25 down to 10p (birds will be happy).

Loads of 10p stuff on bakery shelf, but freezers filling up now.

Total spend - £2.93 + £2.95 this morning = £5.88 and loads and loads for that.

    Morning.

gailey - thanks for that post, made me smile - I bet you don't stick to that meal plan though. lol
Get that hubby to pack the cigs in. Morries have some 50p fruit and veg offers and check your Lidl meat offer.
Getting that car through the MOT was a bonus - 12 months "grace"!! Have to see what finances are like and maybe time to get rid.

Took some 10p pate out (had since last Sept.), so pate on toast for breakfast.
Probably bacon, eggs and beans for lunch and not too sure about later.
Trying not to spend today and that'll give just over £10 to spend tomorrow - might make some calzone pizzas for a treat, just need a little ham and mushrooms.

Got some more free tickets for the "Dogs", so free snack and drink!
No betting this time though, just take the "freebies".

    Morning all.

Getting my hair done today so there's £30 + tip I'd rather not spend but have to. Feel a bit skint at the moment, as I need to buy fresh things but don't want to as a) saving up for my trip and b) will be away so won't use much of it. Realised I have a bill for the middle of the month, and mother's day to pay for so I'll only have about £250 for disney which I hope will be enough.

Need to buy milk, maybe get some eggs from Home Bargains. Was in Asda the other day and was shocked at the tomatoes. The only cherry ones I could see were £1.20!

Have sausages out the freezer so may have sausages, egg and beans, or with mash and veg for tea. Getting my hair done at 11:30 so will have a late breakfast and skip lunch I think.

I spent a fortune yesterday (well for me anyway!) - £13.50 at Aldi, followed by £18 at a big supermarket. I suppose I could have saved £2.50 at Aldi if I hadn't bought 2 jars of pesto and one of mint sauce, all the fruit and veggies I bought were very reasonable though.

Food these days is just ridiculously over-priced, esp supermarket fruit and veg. Tomatoes in particular, I realise they are out of season but....! Have friends over for dinner this eve, eight of us in total. I am making pizza using storecupboard bread flour and oilive oil, but bought a load of fresh spinach, mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, chillies and cheese to top with. Am serving with a cherry tomato and olive couscous salad, and a big potato salad, followed by an orange and lemon trifle which I made last night. Soft drinks only on the agenda so I bought coke, juice and lemonade, as well as mayonnaise, cake cream and custard...none of which I would usually sling into my basket, all these things add up but we should have a really good night, hopefully w/o a load of leftovers. Will make do for next week with storecupboard and freezer ingredients.
