  • Kirri- I wish I lived near your allotment as I love jerusalem artichokes - the soup is lovely!

Had a very busy day today as my friend asked me to make 6 large gateaux for a do she was having. Just dropped them off now. As well as baking all day i am in the middle of a recruitment for a client so had to keep going on the computer to e-mail stuff!

Was too busy to cook today so for tea i just shoved jacket potatoes in the oven and then cooked 4 rashers of bacon and a leek in a little butter and then added flour milk and cheese to make a cheese sauce. When the potatoes were done I scooped out the centres and mashed them with the cheesy saucy bacon mixture and put them back in the skins and into the oven to brown and crisp. It was really nice and everyone ate it!

no shopping today but I have loads of stuff in. I was so annoyed with myself for buying all those yoghurts yesterday and not checking the dates (4 March) - we'll never eat them all.

i had some cream cheese frosting left over from one of the cakes (the carrot one) so I mixed it with some coconut and a tin of evap and froze it in a tupperware. It has made a lovely ice cream!

just flicking through the TV and James Martin is making a beef dripping cake - [STRIKE]he[/STRIKE] it looks yummy!

Yes, that is the Alan Sugar way! :T

Seriously Kirri, you need to borrow someone's wheelbarrow and make a fortune with the next batch. When I was vegan I went for a meal in Mayfair one evening, and was served Jerusalem artichoke soup as they didn't know what else to make me... the aphrodisiac quality worked (either that or the wine goggles :D) but didn't last long as the bloat kicked in :(. Go for it, and make sure you charge a competitive price.

You were right first time. Well done on making the gateaux...you must be very organised and have a big kitchen. Did you take any pictures of your creations? And out of interest, how did you transport them?

ETA: I often eat out of date yoghurt, on the basis that it is fermented milk anyway and my fridge keeps things very cold. The latest I have eaten them is 28 days after the BBE with no ill effect (if they are bubbly, throw them away).

^ Lol yes, not sure about aphrodisiac qualities, with the stomach cramps I actually felt ill last time! I'd only eat them when I have a day at home after! Nice taste though.

I will have to investigate the soup with 3 comments about it now :D

You can make yoghurt cake with flavoured yoghurt, although you may have done enough baking recently!

    Evening all

Today was a glorious day. Got back from picking ds up and played a bit of footy in the communal garden. Then one of the neighbours grandkids brought a dog in... a big huge rottweiler. The neighbour said it was ok, and it was as daft as a brush, and had to be trained as it would wag it's tail at strangers at the door. So now when they said attack it would. I decided to take ds in, didn't want to risk it.

Forgot to take sausages out of the freezer so ended up having chicken goujons with mash and baked beans for tea. Cooked a few more of the goujons so ds can take some for his pack up.

Nipped into home bargains to get some choccy for us both, spent a few quid on that and biscuits for ds' dinners.

Freezer looks as though there's a little bit of space in it. Not sure what to have tomorrow, maybe have a fresh pizza from Asda. I have some mince in the freezer but I'm unsure if it's savoury mince or chillie.

Morning all, another fine looking day here. I have a dentist appointment later for a filling so I think it's going to get rather dark and cloudy as my dentist is a bit of a butcher!

Really fancy getting a fresh pizza for tea tonight but I'm skint until Tuesday! My own fault for buying crap all the time. May have beef burgers instead. I'll have soup for dinner.

quintwins - are jacket pots syn-free or can you have syn-free chips?

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning.
Picked my brother up from the ferry port and popped into Tesco first.
Got 2 Lurpak for £2 - only food spend.
Got some more stuff with the SSM coupons and managed to get sub-total of £13.42 down to £4.22 using 8 SSM coupons and the Lurpak multi-buy. Not many Tesco coupons left now and I'll miss them, it's been fun and I've been in Tesco more this last week and a half than I normally go in 3 months!!
BTW - a lot of Tesco cleaning stuff offers ends this Sunday.
Tried Asda on way home for handwash thingys, but none in stock - I think they have got wise and no more stocking of the shelves!!
I'll have to get 2 from Superdrug ..................... I won't be beaten. lol

Toasted hot cross bun for breakfast and home-made minestrone for lunch. Used up some veg that needed using and chopped it all up and will try some sort of rissole type of thing with it (just carrots, swede, potatoes, onion, peas and sweetcorn) - might add a little ground coriander and cumin.

Spend for week so far on food stuff has only been about a tenner, but that will easily double tomorrow when I hit Lidl.
Diced chicken breasts, milk and eggs needed. Veg needs restocking a bit, well carrots anyway.

    Morning guys.

    bit tired today.

not sure the not buying much is working with hubbu.

I brought reduced stuff in spar wed nite 5loaves of bread at 8p, reduced chicken, bacon so if whoopsie and make meals its justfiied.

had spent £25 earlier in week mainly on reductions .

yesterday had to go swindon to pick up a buggy.
not very mse but stopped at motorway services as baby was crying.
was hungry so said treat hubby to a burger,
popped into simply food and came out with 2full carrierbags for £20 mostly reduced got bit carried away but never see reduced in local marks guess they dont get much footfall for actual meals as people stop for quikck bite or snack or like us on hols take car packed with stuff for journey and shop at local supermarket when there.
sent hubby to co-op for 5things she spent £20 but that did included baby food, toddler pullups , sadly not many reductions..

so will continie trying to eb as frugal as I can until 15th on food and same in march get stricter but do so love whoopsie hunting.

ps did i mention said burger meal in burger king services was £6.70
got my revenge helped myself to 15 sachets of ketchup!
Goes nicely with sachet stockpile from hubbys hotel at work other day!
    anyone sle stockpile sachets?
