I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

No budget as such for toiletries and have possibly a years supply of most things now down to coupons and glitches last year. Top up only on top offers and any glitches and freebies.
Booze, believe it or not, but I hardly drink alcohol now, just the odd glass of wine etc and an odd drink on holidays - no budget for that, but we don't go out as much now. Hubby decided to drop his hours to enable a better quality of life and part of the trade off was to stop wasting money in pubs - £3+ per pint has put both of us off - he does drink at home possibly 5 nights per week, but is only a small drinker anyway.
We do have bar meals now and again and use Groupon for 1 meal per month. Not been out as much this year, but down to Winter.
Eating out is NOT part of budget, but only a small part anyway.
Things like fish and chips to bring home would be included, a rare occasion now though, only a few times per year.
Household?? Are you talking about cleaning things?? If so, as above, possibly a years supply and just top up as above.
Savings this year will probably be spent on a holiday, maybe Xmas abroad??

I've just been and got my 30p UK swede (thanks to Lynsey for the tip off). Will keep for later in the week and have it pureed then put in the oven with cheese on top and pumpkin seeds. Also got some nice looking organic celery on the reduced counter (the pets will have the top leafy part and I will use the rest in a satay) and needed 1 x kitchen towel on offer. The 30p fruit was coming from some strange places - Austria and Belgium, never seen apples and pears from there before!
Lunch - as the pumpkin was so big and took so long to cut, I gave up on having that for lunch and had a hot roll out of the oven with cheese with a bag of crisps I found down the back of the crockery cupboard yesterday. Got enough pumpkin for 4 batches (almost a month's worth of lunches!) but no way I can get that in the freezer - going to make 2 batches later and then think about what to do with the rest of the chopped pumpkin, may leave it in the fridge and make another 2 batches in a few days. Seems quite watery compared to the butternut I roasted the other day though, hope it comes out ok, going to bulk with lentils and onions anyway. Got to hook out the rest of the seeds in a bit, will dry them and use in bread
Won't now have the romanesco tonight as will be having soup if I get up and finish it off!0 -
Hi guys, me again.
I am having toad in the hole for dinner tonight, with broccoli and sweetcorn. All of this is from the cupboard/freezer.
There is actually some space on my cupboards and freezer now, for the first time in months!
I shoudnt need to get any cleaning stuff/washing powder at all for a good few months now, but will need to get some bin liners from Lidl at some point. went rooting through the cupboard under the sink today nd found 2 more big bottles of fairy washing liquid and some lenor fabric conditioner that i bought whilst it was on offer ages ago too.0 -
DInner tonight - fish casserole from freezer courtesy of Iceland via Bargain foods so dead cheap and really nice! Adding some new pots and broccoli.
Kids are getting finest chipolata sausages that I bought reduced and froze with frozen mash pots and broccoli and carrots.
very cheap dinner tonight
nipped to the shops and spent a grand total of £1.48 on potato rosti's (on offer and fancied them but didn't need for tonight) and a pack of value yorkshire puddings to go with the sausages - kids were very happy! So just adding to cupboard / freezer stocks a touch but lets face it, yorkshires need to go with sausages and mash..3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Labradors are complete gluttons. They pretend they can't hear you when you call them, but rustle a sweet paper or open the cupboard you keep the dog food and suddenly the dawg is there, trying to look cute to get food. I don't ever leave food around, I know it would disappear. My mother's Cocker spaniel was small and we didn't think he would get up on the table but he did and ate half a chocolate cake !
Tomorrow we're having roasted langoustines as s atarter (£3 per box, frozen ones from Morrisons) followed by Gressingham duck legs, again from the freezer (special offer Waitrose and Morrisons). I might be nice and make OH chocolate mousse but he's been overspending so he's in the doghouse so maybe I won't. His overspending on self = no card, roses or Taittinger for me and he'll have to make it up to me on my birthday.0 -
Hi everyone.
Hope all are well. Had a really awful Saturday night and haven't felt very chatty since so haven't paid a visit. At least bramble's naughty dog has made me chuckle.
Decided to cook the creamy chicken plait thing which was taking a fair bit of freezer space. Had that for tea and there's enough for ds' lunch too.
No idea what I'm having tomorrow. Might either make haggis or use some of the stuffing and bacon parcel things from xmas with mash and veggis.
Had a small spend of £2.86 on bread, skimmed and whole milk and two fruit bars by delmonte from Home Bargain at 10p each. Wasn't sure if I'd like them but they are quite nice. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
He normally wouldn't take things off the side but today temptation got the better of him!!
I need to get savoury rice and salsa for dinner tomorrow, decided to use the leftover wraps for Mexican chicken wraps tomorrow. And have defrosted a bacon and leek reduced quiche for 3 lunches this week.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
