I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge
Comments

Then theres the snacks and treats
crips
biscuits
chocs
cakes
pop/juice
cereals
dont seem to last 5mins
That's some of the expensive areas of little value, something I limit now and really do think of as treats.
Harder for you though having a family, especially if they are used to these "treats".
1 big chest freezer, now I know how you stashed all those buns. lol
Catch up later.

^ I've cut all those out the budget now too, unless I make something myself - harder with kids these days but we never really had all that growing up years ago, was always a rare treat or for a Sunday!
Btw seen a few freezers being given away on Freecycle this week - just a thought if anyone does want to expand!0 -

I would struggle to eliminate the treats naturaklly do about a week before payday last week or so been light on treats.
treats usually
value
on offer
or reduced
or not brought.
hubbys enjoyed the 19p reduced trifles from spar.
kids value choc mouse and value choc buttons
reduced cones 65 p and value icecream
reduced xmas chocs
on offer or value crisps
value angel delight gone up from 10p to 15p sainsburys makes 2small pots.
when i say poundshops meant value shops too.
poundstrecher had 6pack crisps 89p
chilli flakes 79p
oxo 79p for 12
but another pounshop been to had 24pack oxo £1 or 2things like branded biscuits for £1 which makes better value than sainsburys /tesco value lines.
eldest likes cereal bars in lunch
box unless they on offer in big 4 then piundshops best bet wish had recipie to make them myself.
last time in farmfoods got 2 for 2 oxo so 36cubes for £2.50
iceream 4pack sprinklles just £1 Amazing deal not seen cheaper
they also had fancy pepper and salt £1 same as £1shop.

Hi everyone!
Sorry i havent been around since the start of the thread...things have been hectic!
BUT i have managed to eat from the cupboards etc.
I wrote down a list of everything i had and stuck it to the outside of the cupboards, so i can see in an instant what i have.
So far, i have worked out that i have the necessary foods for the following meals:
Chilli con carne
cottage pie and veg
tuna pasta bake
sausage casserole and veg
chow mein
sweet and sour
lasagna & Garlic bread
korma & nann bread
Toad in the hole
chicken Fajitas
Spag bol
Roast chicken
Pizza and salad
Fish cakes, rice and veg
Fish pie
Pan fried curried cod.
I am sure i can get more from whats in the cupboards/freezer, but thats a good starting point.0 -
Back from brothers shopping and I bought a 30p pack of baking potatoes (1.5kg) and a medium sized swede. The swedes varied in size from very small to medium, still some decent ones there for 30p. Be careful with the baking potatoes, right next to the packs of 4 for 60p, easy to make an error!! Bought 2 bottles of pop for £1 as Xmas cans and J2o have vanished. On the look out now for cheap pop - don't drink loads though.
Spent £1.60 and popped into B&M's to get hubby some more drink (Grimbergen) for 69p and he was going to stock up - sadly they only had 2 bottles left (unlucky, lol). Bought myself another 2 bags of Phileas Fogg crisps at 49p each and another 4 packs of 10p nuts to nibble on -£1.38 spent there, so £2.98 in total so far. Not too sure if I'll get a NSD this week as we are popping out quite a bit and I'm sure to get a few things, so hoping for just little spends.
Out for a meal on Thursday, courtesy of Groupon, so that will save cooking and a little money. Try M&S Outlet shop then to see if I can use those £15 vouchers.

whats the coupons for lynsey? .
It's for any Kikkoman products, 1 x 50p coupon per month.
Soy Sauce is one, not too sure what else they do - normally pretty expensive though.
I just wanted the free calendar and it's a good one - highly recommended.

No budget as such for toiletries and have possibly a years supply of most things now down to coupons and glitches last year. Top up only on top offers and any glitches and freebies.
Booze, believe it or not, but I hardly drink alcohol now, just the odd glass of wine etc and an odd drink on holidays - no budget for that, but we don't go out as much now. Hubby decided to drop his hours to enable a better quality of life and part of the trade off was to stop wasting money in pubs - £3+ per pint has put both of us off - he does drink at home possibly 5 nights per week, but is only a small drinker anyway.
We do have bar meals now and again and use Groupon for 1 meal per month. Not been out as much this year, but down to Winter.
Eating out is NOT part of budget, but only a small part anyway.
Things like fish and chips to bring home would be included, a rare occasion now though, only a few times per year.
Household?? Are you talking about cleaning things?? If so, as above, possibly a years supply and just top up as above.
Savings this year will probably be spent on a holiday, maybe Xmas abroad??
